I'm interested in banking area as a whole!
From my knowledge there is not enough tax work in law firms besides Vaish in Delhi and Vaish pays peanuts. All the other big law firms do have a tax practice but they dont have enough work. They basically do Tax Due dilligence, EPF advisory, PMLA and Black money act. Maybe Try Dhruva consultants. They are a 100% tax firm.
Just go with your own thing man. Will be much better off in the long run.
Take the time to read it. Find details below:
Caroline Morris and Cian Murphy, Getting a PhD in Law (Hart 2011). Obviously, this is a slightly old book and discusses a very different context from India, but I feel the nuance it goes into in terms of supervisor vs. university etc is worth looking at.
I am looking to intern at a Cap Marks Team this October, but I am not in the fag end of my law school to look for bigger names, and cant go to mumbai for personal reasons, any recommendations on T3 Cap Marks firms?
Honestly some GC team recs are also appreciated :))
And the thing is, every associate was supposed to go on with a regular working day on the morning they heard of her demise while coming to office. every bbody was made to work the entire day, โฎโฎโฎ
Iโm a qualified Company Secretary and a Lawyer from a state university. I was fortunate to secure an assessment internship at a law firm, which later converted into a full-time role.
However, over the past 5 months, there has been significant attrition in the firm - almost everyone who joined with me has moved on. While I understand that movement is a part of the profession, the current environment has started to feel increasingly challenging (lack of seniors, micro-management, detrimental policies, etc) and I find myself a bit demotivated.
Iโve been actively exploring opportunities and have been cold-emailing HRs and Partners, but havenโt had much success so far. I also feel hesitant about resigning without another offer in hand, given practical constraints.
I understand that these things take time, but I would really appreciate any guidance, suggestions, or leads that anyone could offer.
Thank you in advance!
On a separate note, do some digging you'll find people shifting from KLA to BLC but not a single case of the opposite happening.
This is the best and simplest piece of advice I received from an Associate, which stuck with me.
Instead of approaching tasks academically, trying to show off unnecessary skills, always keep in mind this ultimate goal and be efficient rather than flamboyant in your work, and your senior will greatly appreciate you for it and keep you in his good books.
Also, be cheerful and interactive with the team at large. At the end of the day, they're not just looking for a topper to join the team and not collaborate; they're essentially deciding whether you're a person they want to sit next to for the next couple of years through long nights and difficult moments who can handle the stress.
All the very best!
Can someone from CAM please describe the nature and extent to which Legora is being used in the transactional practice areas?
Is it really being implemented wholly for documentation and research or is it still just a buzzword for PR?
Also, if yes, what's your review of it, is it helpful and do you think this will affect hiring for upcoming batches?
Thanks!
YOUR HEALTH, YOUR KID AND YOUR PEACE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY MATTER OR ANY WORK.
REQUEST YOU TO PRIORTISE WHAT MATTERS MORE. PLEASE STOP STRESSING, THAT IS THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO AT THIS CRUCIAL TIME OF YOUR LIFE.

Of all the pressures law school already has, its genuinely not reasonable to have such strict attendence policies. I hope the SC passes an order stopping this. There have been many instances where even genuine reasons for lack of attendnece have not been met. A student told the UG chair (โฎโฎโฎ) that they were suicidal and her response was "everyone is suicidal lately". I have given up hope
Hi, I did a 4 month internship with KCO, my call back was extended and the feedback was positive however I wasnโt told when Iโll have the interview scheduled. Any information is appreciated. Thank you:)
Also, people who are good at heart donโt lose control in anger and assault people. โฎโฎโฎ
Heard in CB they've made a few Associate Partners/Partner & a Senior Partner! Can anybody confirm?
What I was not prepared for was the sheer volume of work and the environment. The stress is honestly unimaginable. The workload never seems to end, timelines are constantly unreasonable, and there is zero regard for personal boundaries. What makes it harder is that most of the pressure comes from โseniorsโ who, in reality, have lesser PQE than me. Work is routinely dumped without context, accountability is pushed downhill, and when something goes wrong, it feels like Iโm the first person to be thrown under the bus.
Thereโs a constant sense that people are waiting for you to slip up. There is no room to pause, reflect, or even breathe. My personal life is practically nonโexistent at this point, my health has deteriorated significantly, and I find myself constantly anxious and exhausted. Iโve reached a stage where coping with this level of toxicity feels increasingly difficult.
To the seniors and peers on this forum who have spent much longer in this profession, especially in disputes: how do you manage this? Is this something one simply learns to live with, or does it get better with time? At what point do you decide that the cost is too high?
Would really appreciate any honest perspectives or advice.
TLDR: HOW TO LIVE A LIFE WHILE WORKING IN A LAW FIRM?
Iโm a 2024 LL.B. graduate currently trying to move into data privacy roles. I have around 10 months of experience in US pre-employment compliance (background verification and health screen vetting typa work), but Iโve been trying to pivot into privacy for a while now. Iโm currently between roles, so using this time to upskill and figure out the right entry point.
Over the past few months, Iโve tried to build some practical understanding. worked on things like DPIAs, RoPA, basic gap assessments, privacy policies, and have been reading up on GDPR and the DPDP Act and collecting certs. Still very early stage, but trying to make the shift properly now.
Iโve been seeing a lot about Tsaaro Consulting and their career change / apprenticeship-type roles, so wanted to ask people here whoโve been through it or are in similar roles:
- 1. What actually helps in getting shortlisted for these roles?
- 2. How much do certifications vs practical work/portfolio matter at entry level?
- 3. Is the exposure there genuinely useful for moving ahead in privacy, or is it more surface-level?
- 4. Are there any other entry-level options for a privacy fresher?
Would really appreciate honest inputs, especially from people who started from a similar position.
Thanks!
Now i wanted to know whether if i am able to crack the latter 2 should i join either, or wait this year for nlsiu next year?
[N.B. there are only 22 oprn seats for me, & competition is huge, may 2-2.5k].
My understanding is that wasting another year is not optimal since it would go waste, rather it is better to get in an NLU and work as hard as possible from day 1 itself.
My assumptions for corporate law firm/in-house jobs are somewhat stable in the sense i researched a lot, but i concur that i need to know a lot many things for even coming to a conclusion for pursuing one.
I am naturally inclined to academia, otherwise.
Please advise and give genuine advises please , not like there are no scope for 3 year llb, tier 3 colleges are scam, or go to DU, BHU (which i cant since they wont provide hostels, & i'm not from these cities). Please give genuine practical advises.
Thank you!

The contents of the communication are not only disappointing but deeply troubling. The attempt to rationalize administrative inaction under the guise of โfeasibilityโ and โlegal constraintsโ is both unconvincing and evasive. It is entirely reasonable to ask: what exactly is considered unfeasible? Is it the basic academic autonomy of allowing students to choose their honours papers? Is it the recruitment of qualified subject experts? Or is it the provision of fundamental infrastructure and amenities expected from a residential university?
Students have repeatedly witnessed arbitrary and regressive decisions that undermine both academic growth and professional preparedness. The removal of attendance considerations for moot participation, the lack of serious engagement with placement concerns, and the absence of a supportive academic environment reflect a systemic disregard for student priorities.
The administrationโs portrayal of meetings as consultative platforms is misleading. In reality, these spaces offer little room for genuine dialogue. Students are either not given the opportunity to speak or are ignored when they do. More concerning is the reported conduct during the last meeting, where the SBA President, upon raising structural concerns and suggesting administrative reshuffling, was met not with reasoned discussion but with hostility and remarks that can only be described as intimidatory.
With the recent disclosure of documents, policy proposals and communications by the student president, the question of accountability has become clearer. Students have consistently acted in good faith, submitting proposals with the genuine intent of constructive implementation. The administrationโs continued inaction reflects not constraints, but a lack of responsiveness and commitment to student welfare.
Further, the presence of double standards and instances of inappropriate personal remarks directed at students raise serious concerns about professionalism and institutional ethics.
The situation demands urgent and meaningful reform. It is imperative that those in positions of authority are held accountable, and that structural changes are considered to restore trust, transparency, and academic integrity. The future and legacy of the institution depend on the willingness to acknowledge failures and undertake comprehensive corrective measures.
These people are not rightists or leftists, they are SELF-ists.

This evening Mamata will call a press conference. I feel there is a strong likelihood of a petition before the Supreme Court, with Kapil Sibal arguing.
โฎโฎโฎ.
CATEGORY ONE: Ministers and AG:
These ones are out immediately.
1. Biman Banerjee, WB Assembly Speaker and TMC MLA
2. Bratya Basu, WB Education Minister and TMC MLA (now ex-MLA: lost his seat)
3. Moloy Ghatak, WB Law Minister and TMC MLA (now ex-MLA:also lost).. his removal is big as he was the one pushing for a campus in his constituency Asansol)
4. Chandrima Bhattacharya, WB Industries Minister and TMC MLA (now ex-MLA, also lost).
5. Kishore Datta, Advocate General (pre-Covid the SJA openly clashed with him and criticised him in a letter: shared on LI at that time)
Itโs very likely that Swapan Dasgupta will be included, as one of the major ministers (Education Minister, most likely). Possibly Sanjeev Sanyal as Finance Minister, if he is parachuted from Delhi.
The next AG could be a certain NLSIU alum from the older batches who is close to the BJP (not sharing the name now). Or perhaps an older and highly distinguished Senior Advocate, who was not part of the TMC ecosystem (not sharing the name, but his area is mostly commercial law).
CATEGORY TWO: Supposed legal โluminariesโ
These ones will be out soon after:
6. Kalyan Banerjee, TMC MP
7. Sanjay Basu, founder of Aquilaw and right-hand man of Abhishek Banerjee
8. Ashok Kumar Deb, WB Bar Council Chairman and TMC MLA
9. Justice (retd) Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya, Chairman, State Human Rights Commission
10. Sandipan Ganguly, Senior Advocate close to the TMC regime
11. Ratnanko Banerji, Senior Advocate close to the TMC regime
In the past, legends like Justice Ruma Pal, KK Venugopal, Gopal Subramanyam, Dipankar Gupta were on the GC. What the BJP could do is appoint high-profile senior counsels of national stature who are part of the BJP ecosystem, like Harish Salve, Mahesh Jethmalani, ASG Vikramjeet Banerji, Pinky Anand, Aman Lekhi etc. Or even the Attorney General and Solicitor General. Another option would be retired SC judges close to the BJP: there are several. An ultimate troll move would be to appoint J Sai Deepak. ๐ฎ
CATEGORY THREE: Academics
12. Surya Prakash, NLIU VC
13. Poonam Saxena, former VC, NLUJ
My money would be on Raj Kumar of JGLS, since he is now firmly pro-BJP. Alternatively, they may simply invite tier 1 NLU VCs.
Those who will stay on are ex-officio national appointees, like the UGC Chairman, BCI Chairman and IIM Calcutta Director.

Where does this leave Menaka? No way sheโs getting a second term as RS MP, given that the seats will be reduced and allocated to the heavyweights who lost in the election, including Mamata herself? So will she be satisfied being a one-term MP, or will she join another party?
Fox & Mandal: Loses a huge chunk of their work as well.
KCO: Maybe benefits?
CAM: Maybe benefits and opens a Kolkata office?
The minute you feel the puppet strings and manipulation - vacate the scene. I got some lazy apologies later. Most of them are cowards.
While the team offers a strong mix of enforcement and merger-related work, the allocation of such work has increasingly become location-centric. At the same time, a minority section of resources has been carrying a disproportionately high workload, leaving little room for personal time. There is a clear need for prompt hiring, along with a broader internal recalibration to address these concerns.
then they have some weird things going on in the office - apparently, a lot of litigation against the partner. might want to skip.
Regards,
AZB, Delhi
Iโve only done internships in litigation and policy till now, and I havenโt had any corporate law firm experience. The thing is, I donโt even see myself going into corporate law long-term, but I still want to try it out at least once at a good firm, just to be sure and not regret it later.
I genuinely feel like Iโm a hardworking person. If someone gives me work, I take it seriously and try to do it properly. Itโs just that my grades donโt reflect that at all, which makes things harder.
Right now I feel a bit lost and behind compared to others, but I also feel like itโs not too late to fix things if I start now. I just donโt know where or how to apply with this kind of profile.
Would really appreciate any advice or guidance.
People are just going crazy - reasonableness is the least of what is expected.
I suffered through the same but it is awful experience and scars you! Imagine you are loyal to him and doing his work.
Second These guys achieved great things in few years and because of achievement of there the bar is set for achievement is so high I can't achieve in my life time form this my insecurities arise
Last my father told my mother that i am defective piece in my family after my 10th that I overheard.
Give most of your time to academics now, put in an extra effort in project making, go through your university PYQs, its never too late.
2. I will personally admit, on the VC's behalf, that he probably could not do as much as he would have liked either in constitutional law or law and philosophy. But that's because being a full time university administrator, while also teaching, is hard. In the western universities it is possible to continue a research career in his position equivalent, (a) because VCs don't teach in those places (I know this first-hand, having been to one such); and (b) the nonsense of Indian higher-ed (VCs having to deal with politicians who aren't even sixth class pass) isn't there in many societies outside of India. Building the type of Humboldtian-style research culture he aims for takes time and his record may, if looked at objectively from what an Ivy/RG counterpart's CV might look like, is very possibly underwhelming. That's because Indian universities' teaching loads (including those at NLS) are higher compared to counterparts elsewhere in the world. Can you produce the research output of a George Letsas while having the teaching and other loads of a standard Indian academia contract?
3. The PhD supervisor of a person is a very important connection of theirs to "name-drop" (read: simple mention) in connection to them. Why should Paul Craig's supervision of Sudhir be irrelevant compared to the fact Joseph Raz did DPhil (same final degree as Krishnaswamy under craig) under supervision of HLA Hart? Why would all obituaries of Raz (a 1000 times better academic than anybody at any Indian law school), including the London Times one, mention supervision of him under Hart and those defending Sudhir not his being supervised by Paul Craig? Supposedly, Raz's life and CV were now indicating that the fact he studied under Hart was no longer relevant, but evidently, those who actually matter didn't seem to think so. So you are holding Sudhir to a standard - that too, a double standard - that even Raz is not held to. Considering the miserable state of Indian legal education (well below 6/10 on a 10 point scale), we should be dancing for joy at the mere fact that an ex Paul Craig student was attracted back to our country to serve as a legal educator. And you are not doing anything to raise that base standard, may I just note. As he himself has said, during his time, there was a "distinct sense" that NLSIU kind of law schools were not really on the "higher education map" in India, let alone abroad. Sudhir has not only made sure beyond any scope for reasonable doubt that it is very much on the Indian map, but has also put it on the map globally. Just because you are attending some law college that opened its doors yesterday whose position is such that it is attracting NLSIU BALLB top rankers without LLM or PhD or work ex as teachers and you are having wet dreams in which its name overtakes NLS's doesn't mean anything to me, frankly.
Sorry, we don't want anything to do with her.
- MG: Not getting a Rajya Sabha seat for her second term, since seats for the TMC will be scarce and they will probably give it to people from Bengal and mass leaders. Her only realistic option (if she wishes for a second term) is to switch to the Congress.
- NUJS: GC and EC dominated by TMC ministers, MPs, MLAs and various TMC sympathisers. All out. Complete whitewash. Replaced by BJP ecosystem.
JGLS 2028 here, specifically targeting competition law and Delhi-based (not looking to move to Mumbai unless absolutely necessary).
Here's my internship lineup so far:
- Trilegal Delhi (disputes team, was sitting next to the competition team; thats why im now interested in competition law and i took an elective on competition law in mergers control)
- CCI โ June
- JSA Delhi โ July(rn m&a team ill have to change for comp again which one is better nishaโs or vaibhavโs? one associate who left jsa said vaibhavโs for better ppo chances)
- Khaitan Delhi โ December
A few things I want to understand better:
1. I've heard JSA has a three-internship policy before they even consider you for a PPO โ is this still true for the Delhi competition team specifically, or has that changed?
2. Khaitan Delhi โ multiple people have told me they don't really give PPOs in Delhi (especially competition), and that most of the team actually sits in Noida anyway. Is this accurate? Should I even be pushing for a PPO there or just treat it as a learning internship?
3. Is Chandhiok & Mahajan worth seriously targeting for a competition PPO? It seems like the strongest Delhi-native competition boutique but I don't see much discussion about their intern-to-hire conversion rate.
4. SAM Delhi competition team โ how contact-dependent is it really to even get in?
5. AZB noida competition team โ how contact-dependent is it really to even get in?
6. Is staying in Delhi for competition law a viable long-term call, or is Mumbai just unavoidable if you want to grow in this practice area? (Mumbai cost of living is a genuine concern for me as a fresher.)
Would really appreciate inputs from people who've actually interned in competition teams in Delhi specifically not just general firm gyaan. Thanks!
