But todayโs news is that the party itself may effectively cease to exist, because 58 out of 80 MLAs have formed a breakaway TMC faction. Some influential Muslim leaders are among them. In that case, the original TMC is heading towards a certain death.
So what will MG do now? Continue to be on board a sinking ship till her RS term ends in 2032? Join the breakaway faction? Or join the Congress or some other party?
However, to choose to be a member of a party or to stand in RS elections from the party she did has to be one of the most stupid things one can do. One should just not stand for elections rather than get a ticket from a party like TMC. Very sad she did this. TMC for all purposes is finished in Bengal. MB still has an aura and a fan base but that will do nothing. People who voluntarily supported the party should seriously instrospect.
The problem with people in Delhi is that they have no idea of the reality in Bengal. They believe the nonsense that Rajdeep Sardesai, Ravish Kumar and other Delhi journalists say about Mamata being some sort of Mother Teresa. MG too fell for this propaganda.
That way, someone like Sanjoy Ghose (who is more aware of the state) was smart enough not to join the TMC. He can now plausibly say that he always a Congress supporter rather than TMC, then join the Congress without any criticism or stain on his record.

Multiple high-level sources within Trinamool said at least nine Lok Sabha and three Rajya Sabha members had already expressed their โextreme eagernessโ for negotiations. This newspaper has learned that in addition to โdisgruntledโ MPs who appeared to be bound for the BJP, at least two Trinamool Lok Sabha members are said to be trying to gain entry to the Congress, having initiated back-channel conversations with Rahul Gandhiโs โemissariesโ.

Fully agree and support. We don't Mahua or Menaka in our party. Their party broke the Congress in Bengal and tortured our workers. Let them join BJP. We don't care.

First, in 2023, her decision to represent the RSS in the Supreme Court drew widespread criticism. Appearing alongside Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, she opposed the Tamil Nadu governmentโs refusal to grant permission to the RSS to conduct route marches in the State. Justice V. Ramasubramanian, who was heading the two-judge Bench, was reportedly caught by surprise and remarked, โI thought you were appearing for the other side.โ ...
It is also worth noting that Guruswamy possesses significant social and economic capital. As one of the countryโs leading advocates, she had the agency to decline a brief for an organisation whose core ideology stands in direct opposition to the queer liberation she represents.
In another instance, when the Telangana government decided to auction 400 acres of forested land adjacent to the University of Hyderabad for the construction of IT parks, Dr. Guruswamyโs role again proved controversial...
Defending the Stateโs stance in the Telangana High Court, Guruswamy backed the government and submitted a preliminary report on behalf of the police, alleging that the case was being distorted through fake news which, she argued, was โbeing used to break up the social fabric". She sided with the State against a grassroots environmental struggle led by students....
Beyond the individual, one must also examine the Trinamool Congress, the party that nominated and successfully elected Guruswamy to the Rajya Sabha. ...

MG must be secretly celebrating that the BJP won. ๐
