People who have changed their practice area, how did you go about it?
I also had a look at the video. Honestly, it's hilarious. The kid is mouthing off trendy buzzwords like "brahmanical force", "militant resistance", etc. Just some kid who read a few articles by left-wing intellectuals and thinks it's cool to regurgitate that lingo.
Both the university and the BJP brigade should have ignored this. These kids are harmless. This RSG is just a fad.
I have no love for NKC. He is like any other self-serving VC. But do you have anything solid against him? Wishy washy will not do.
Thank you.
Not sure if RB will make the cut. NKC is anti-RB, especially so because the state Law Dept got RB to head an inquiry/audit, which caused problems for NKC. While the university has stopped uploading EC/FC/AC records, please check/do RTI and you will find mention of it in the EC records. You can even RTI the Law and Judicial Dept of GoWB. NUJS archives may also have a copy of the public notice issued by the RB headed inquiry committee for submissions before the committee. NKC "complied slowly" and had it put up on NUJS website (only) for an extrenely limited duration. Still, quite a few aggrieved distance education students among others made in-person submissions. Others submitted stuff online.
But as with other EC-directed inquiries, NKC received help from AG and certain regime friendly judges to bury this inquiry as well. Many whisper that NKC used his influence to scuttle RB's chances as VC for NLU Meg and possibly Tripura as well.
The SJA has been hollowed out and student leadership is woefully absent. SJA is more likely to remain a place holder for admin acolytes. Students will always have differences etc. But something as basic as ensuring admin transparency shouldn't have been difficult to maintain. How did SJA 2020 and successors mess up instead of building up on the crucial victories of their predecessors?
NKC and Co know that SJA is ineffectual. Faculty are a divided and self-serving lot. AG and Co have other equations at play. So NKC is likely to continue till 2026 and like many other VCs, he will try to get one his acolytes gets installed as a VC or ensure that someone worse takes over. That's how PIB happened.
History is set to repeat again.

Hungary's first female president resigned after a controversial pardon she granted in a pedophilia case threatened to taint Prime Minister Viktor Orban months before local and European elections. Katalin Novak, a rare woman in high office in Hungary after Orban tapped her for the largely ceremonial role in 2022, announced she was quitting in a televised speech on Saturday. Novak last year pardoned the deputy director of a children's home who had coerced children to withdraw testimonies against his boss, who had sexually abused them. Her speedy resignation, just over a week after the first report of her clemency emerged, may limit the political damage to Orban ahead of European Parliament and municipal polls.

TNNLU and Christ has similar opportunities. But in Christ you have be exceptionally good to make a mark for yourself. Sastra doesn't have any opportunity or value or even has any brand value. TNNLU has more caste reservations than any other NLU. Even then it's doing well.
If you want to litigate within Tamil Nadu, then Sastra or even any local government law college is good. Nobody outside Tamil Nadu knows what's SASTRa.
NLU tag always helps. Even if it's from lower NLU. Because people recognize you in the industry across the country.
And TNNLU is not a lower NLU. It has grown consistently. Now it's as good as NUALS, slightly below NLUO Cuttack. It has beaten many peers.
Student quality in Christ should be slightly better than TNNLU. Christ is also costlier. Avoid SASTRA.
Want a fancy NLU tag? TNNLU
Want a diverse better quality experience? Christ.
I am a 2nd year law student and just want to skill up myself along with looking an opportunity to earn. I hve come across some of the courses( on contract drafting and freelancing) which seems good to take but their prices are very high for me. So I am really confused is it worth it? and the claims which they are making are genuine or not?
plzz give your honest reviews...
Also, COP is mandatory otherwise your bar council enrollment will be cancelled in 2 years.
The annual incomes are likely to be in this range:
1. Shroff family and Zia: 50 cr each
2. Ajay, Bahram, Haigreve, Luthra, Saraf, Akshay, etc.: around 20 cr each
3. Senior partners (non-name and non-managing): around 8-12 cr each
4. Partners with 20+ PQE: around 4 - 6 cr each
5. Partners with 15+ PQE: around 1 - 3 cr each
PS: There are other important issues too in legal fraternity. Not everything will the admin do for you. You need to make your own way by putting in effort instead of just kvetching about admin.
Hope all is well at your end. I am from a Tier - II, NLU in 2025 batch. I have secured a callback at a boutique corporate law firm (bordering between tier 3 and tier 2 from chambers rankings) for July.
I just wanted to get an idea of how colleges - GNLU, RMLNLU, RGNUL, NLUO, HNLU are doing in terms of PPOs? both at tier-1 and tier-2. How many people have got PPOs? Have people completed their callbacks? Are they on assessment? Even a number of potential people who are on track to get PPOs will give me a good idea!
Do you think June or July will be too late for me?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
Chambers would be better if what OP is describing is true, rare to find such seniors
Kudos to Dhruv for being so accessible and being one of the few last sources of relatively independent fact based explanatory sources of media.
Even I had no idea that people are like this in law firms. Did my 3 year LLB post under graduation and met the most insecure, dumb, toxic and worst people in the legal industry including Tier 1 law firms.
So take care of yourself. There is always a life outside work and people who care about you.
