IMO thatβs the tier 2 ranking after the Big 3.
If my Tier 1 colleagues understood this, they would have left the job long back.
Let them live in their bubble.
Ok, but I see everyone in law firm circles refer to employees and colleagues as βgirlsβ. Honestly, itβs weird if I am to refer to my batchmates and college juniors (or few years senior) as βladiesβ instead of βgirlsβ. I would never refer to Zia Mody or Pallavi Shroff as βgirlsβ, but why not people in my age group? Even my mom refers to her college friends as βgirlsβ.

Or maybe I missed the latest amendment
As a lawyer if you are denied an RTI response what should you do?
It was crazy that SC even entertained it
Ask any SC lawyer how difficult it is to appeal a HC judgment so late in the day
If Tushar Mehta didnβt intervene personally it would never get heard
The question is how did someone influence the SG himself to pick up such a dead matter with very little consequence
And why
What is the point now
Its over
Courses are even UGC recognized now
You are not that important
Only thing they care about is how to sweep it under the carpet with minimal damage to their own reputation
The idea was that as UGC frames regulations proper approvals will be taken
But the university needed the money to pay 7th pay commission scales as per PIB so that everyone involved gave a go ahead
Hardly they knew one day a bull in a china shop will come and allege illegalities and corruption using his position as SJA prez
Once such allegations are made everyone treated the programs as radioactive, no sage advice was going to save NUJS
Everyone just wanted to be see distancing themselves from an alleged wrong doing
It took years to prove what was the case in the court because nobody in decision making positions wanted to be seen as complicit
What is pending:
1. Enforcement of arbitration orders
2. Enforcement of HC decision
At this point iPleaders care about getting its money
Students about getting their certificates and university just wants to delay everything by keeping litigation alive
Basically NKC trying to pass on the parcel to the next admin after him
I hope that gives you some clarity

Interestingly, I haven't come across an NLU grad on the show as yet. Only people from less prestigious law schools like Symbi, Amity, GLC etc. is that because NLU grads are too obsessed with law firms, while non-NLU grads don't get cushy jobs and look to hustle by going towards other careers? I also know of a GLC grad who started a beauty business. In the end, won't a successful business earn you more money than a law firm partnership? And another advantage is that you are your own boss? So should NLU students think about entrepreneurship more?
For NLU Delhi, this plus a knowledge of law is required. They ask questions from Torts, Constitution, Criminal law, contracts etc. Prepare for NLU Delhi same way you do for UGC NET, but at a smaller level.
Mediocre and substandard education since day one led by a VC who doesn't deserve to be an assistant professor in any good institution.
Remove the VC.
Add new young faculty preferably graduates of top NLUs.
That's only way to save this place.
Massive student protest recommended.
And he advised to apply to UGC and launch courses anyway- this was back in 2012 and 2014
NUJS applied to UGC, NUJS registrar at the time personally met UGC officers in delhi along with some faculty members
But as I said, consensus at the time was that while UGC came up with a framework, universities can launch online courses if their state legislature allowed them to do so
This is how every IIT, IIM, and well ranked central universities launched their online courses
Of course, when there is allegations of scam, illegality, potential court cases, nobody wants to take chances
This is why litigation continued for 4-5 years - its easy to keep postponing the inevitable rather than paying the dues upfront
But it is getting harder by the day to avoid the bill
iPleaders has communicated many times that they have done their part and furnished evidence before court to that extent
There is inexplicable hold up from the university side, it has failed to implement the order of HC when almost 2 years have passed
You will also remember why ROC used to be part of P5 in the UNSC before the US for its own interests shed ROC and brought in PRC. Ofc, India stupidly supported without getting anything substantive. Not that it would have got much then. Look at ROC, its "protector" not only had it vacated from UNSC but from the UN itself!
Alum who enjoys NUJS Goss :p
The parents and students have demanded that the authorities look into the matter and take appropriate steps to resolve the issue. Students have alleged that they have to shell out a substantial amount while taking admission in the National Law University towards hostel and mess facilities.
Law students/alum answer, aspirants please refrain.
Please don't be a misandrist and assume that a man is ALWAYS on the wrong side. You know why women are not convicted for sexual offences and harrasment because there is no law in this country for it, except POCSO. that too safeguard men till a particular age only.
And I am pretty sure that all people know that Universities always tries to supress the matter.
Secondly, if PIB and Co (including you) were so confident that there is no requirement for UGC approval, why didn't you clearly state that in the admission forms. Why do it much later when the NLS-UGC tussle rattled you?
Also when NUJS suddenly banned these courses in mid-2018 based on a "misleading" petition of the SJA, why didn't the EC listen to your colleague who was not only an EC member but also the head of distance education department? Even SAK was there. Both had ample opportunity to speak up (and they were actually heard out in full, repeatedly, by the EC)
Later when your aforementioned colleague and even you were tasked by the EC to respond diligently to queries etc of aggrieved distance education students, why did you all run away? If Lord Taluk was not personally agreeing with your logic, your friends in EC could have taken it up there. Why didn't that happen?
Later when Lord Taluk and Co and later NKC and Co had opportunities to issue clarification, why did it not boldly declare that the courses never needed UGC approval; that UGC Chairperson himself had signed off; also those very same EC had SC and HC judges as well who had signed off - the so-called "NUJS brand'.
What was the need for the litigation to continue long after SJA mischief (that you claim)? Why are you not getting NKC questioned by the EC for needlessly letting this litigation to continue? Add this to the list of complaints you have already made against him in the EC.
The other case is of an ex-AR Admin whose services were terminated by the EC in mid-2019. He was previously suspended in 2013 or 2014 by the EC. Legally India had done extensive reporting then.
1. Working hours - compare this with your litigation working hours
2. Pay - compared to the work you did in litigation
3. Long term goals - too early to see this through
4. Happiness in what you do - soul satisfying work (work is work after sometime - litigation will always be a demanding - or at least 99 percent times, unless you become so good that you can do only a few matters per day and still make a decent living
5. time spent at job - 1 month is really too early, please give yourself 6 months save up, litigation is not going anywhere
5. Intellectual Stimulation - Everyday is boring or there are more boring days than there are normal application of mind days?

How's the work culture and firm, should I even think for it?
- Work only 2 to 3 hours a day. Lots of free time.
-Full WFH gig. Even spent 2 weeks in Goa once and 1 week in Thailand doing this.
- Paid in foreign currency converted to INR: comes to 4 lakhs a month in hand. Earning more than most batchmates.
- Zero rent as working from family home
- Deal only with foreigners who are very professional and considerate
- Doing this for 1.5 years running now very smoothly
Cons:
- WFH is isolating. No office interaction and office chats. Socialising limited to a small circle of friends.
- Feeling a bit left out when I see batchmates at big law firms being featured on Bar & Bench etc
- Not stable like a CAM/SAM job: recession in Western financial markets can lead to termination of my contract. Getting worried at constant Doomsday predictions of a massive global recession
-Stagnant growth: Will never become a partner in a firm and earn 2-3 cr like a CAM/SAM partner if I stick to this. Max can go up to 80 lakhs a year perhaps, when I reach that age.
- Lacks the prestige of saying that I am with CAM or SAM.
- Sometimes face upsetting remarks from society. Neighbours think I donβt do anything because I am at home in t-shirts and shorts and donβt go to court or law firms like a proper lawyer, dressed in a suit. I would never ever consider an arranged marriage, but one random aunty with a daughter came up to my mom and said something like your son does nothing despite being from an NLU. I know so and so NLU lawyer at this court and this law firm who drives a big car and wears Rolex. My mom told this aunty to F herself and mind her own business, but it still feels upsetting.

Then, have a large meal, whatever u can choose but not junk like deep fried or processed!
Like you can choose Chappati with Dal, sabzi! Don't go with rice as these are a good source of carbs which can provide you energy too but can make you sleepy!
In evening, you can choose as light as fruits!
In dinner, have some light things!

I get that the idea of doing good in college wants you to be ready but honestly man, most of aspirants wont get the university you got. Have fun, learn, make mistakes and let it hit you candid. Do not stress out on not being productive, you will have to do that later on.
Honestly, if you have spare time, find a hobby (instrument, sport, art) that will help you when you have a lot going on in your uni days. I thank my self for playing football when all I wanted to do was scream and frown for having the worst possible phase. Read legal fiction, that wont teach much but just enough to stir your curiosity. If you can work a little on attention span and reading that might help.
This inevitably will become a performance based rat race, but until then, celebrate, enjoy and have fun please. People will tell you that you are not from a t1 NLU and you will have to work hard to compete; maybe, but not really, it works out, I eat at the same table as T1 NLU grads and in your terms I wasted my first two years in college just roaming around.
A post doc is by definition done after a phd - Gauri taught for a year or so but thatβs not a terribly new trajectory- people want to explore and see how different jobs suit them and application cycles donβt always align- idk why this is being seen as some failure when itβs obviously not.
Would you think someone doing an llm a couple of years after working is inferior to someone who did it right out of undergrad? Thats silly ! Are you still in law school ? Maybe you donβt understand how academia works ? Or adult life ?
Academia isnβt more school - itβs research and writing and teaching and peoples career trajectories donβt follow a linear path. Literally no one I know in academia has followed some linear path.
Why do young boys think itβs okay to treat women horribly and to treat sex as some transaction rather than affection ? Surely that has something to do with consuming porn since youβve had your own phone?
When there are cultural issues with misogyny itβs not necessarily wrong to look for cultural solutions.
