We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Comp me itna kaam nahi hai and most teams are relatively stable.
In my new job, which is predominantly a disputes firm, I have felt a bit insecure when I get into any disputes related work. Especially when disputes lawyers say IP/Corporate lawyers aren't "real" lawyers, lol. I hate courts and the dispute resolution system in India which my boss has acknowledged and the most I do in terms of disputes apart from TMs is replying to/drafting a legal notice regularly.
I am getting good offers from corp law firms / in house folks but it always plays in the back of mind that I have 0 lower court experience and very little high court experience. Only TM and MSME tribunals.
Will this harm me in the long run and should I mandatorily do 1 year of only disputes despite hating it? I particularly hate the law of admissions and denials.
My boss (in a PE firm) is at least 10-20x wealthier than the average successful law firm partner and he drives around in cars which won't be considered fancy. We have several domestic individual LPs whose net worth will be in the hundrers of crores and then also don't all drive around in fancy cars, some do and other don't, some also stay in flats - 3 BHKs in societies where you wouldn't expect someone that wealthy staying. I am also friends with a few senior advocates; and some drive German cars and others don't - and these guys would be earning in many times what a successful law firm partner, who is at least a couple of standard deviations away from the mean, would be earning.
No one gives a shit - certainly not your clients and certainly not most professional acquaintances.
That apart, if you don't retire even after 15 crs in savings, then you must really like the job. Because money wise that 15cr is sufficient capital (middle class) once you invest it, even for metro living.
Do some FIRE research.
Trilegal does pay around that ballpark, though you will be considered to be an employee, and won't have a retainer. (Basically bahaut tax katega. [I work here now])
Solomon & Co is inadvisable to go to as an A1 because they need someone to do basically everything for them. You need to be at least an A3 to take on that role. (I rejected an offer from them for the same reason)
Argus is decent but again, you will be considered to be an employee. The culture is easy going, and Aarti is fun to work with. (Been invited to join them a few times)
Business is synonyms of risk.
2. There is a very small banking and finance team (▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ refuses to do banking mandates anymore, and they have hired ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮, to take over the reins ▮▮▮) ▮▮▮. There is little to no work at times, but when there's work, it's raining work.
3. Pay - decent.
4. Culture - BAD. ▮▮▮
As someone who used to work there, I can tell you that K Law is not a place to start your career at. It's best for lawyers who have given up on their drive and zest for the law but want to take it slow now.

- Only one famine has happened in India since 1947, while over fifty famines killing millions of people occurred in just one or two centuries of British rule.
- India's share of the global GDP in 1947 was 4%, now it is significantly more.
- There is now a proper English-speaking middle class of crores of people in India, who contribute both to high-skilled immigrants to the West as well as leading scientists and academicians within India.
- Even though India is still poor, with an unenviable level of human rights, the poverty levels and experience of the aam admi is incredibly better and higher than it was during British rule. A disadvantaged Indian today has a much better chance of doing well in life and accessing justice than he did 100 years back.
There are many more reasons, but these are some of the key ones.
- Gaza ICJ case
- SC case on electoral bonds
- Trump fraud cases
- Affirmative action in US and reservation in India
- UCC
- CAA
- Gyanvapi case
- Newsclick case
- Free speech
- Censorship of JGLS students
- Trans rights
- The continuing saga that can be variously referred to as Mahuagate, Adanigate, Hiranandanigate, Dehadraigate, Shardulgate, JonesDaygate, GopalShanksgate, Pinakigate and Henrygate
etc.
So should we confine LI to NLU and law-firm related news and goss only? This is particularly relevant as we are approaching election season. The other option is to convert LI into a message board site and have different boards: one on NLUs, one for law aspirants, one for law firms, one for luxury gear and one for general legal topics.
Thoughts???
No one gives a fuck.
Secondly, buy it if you want to drive it and enjoy the experience.
Don't waste your time worrying out the approval of people around you.
M&A; PE/VC are your run of the mill transactions.
Maybe funds practice (AIF) is still somewhat niche, but PE/VC is as competitive and mainstream as it gets
Introspect on what you can do.
Jindal is one of the best faculty employers in India.
Positive
Good salary, higher than UGC pay scale.
Minimum teaching hours (8 hours per week)
Ample time and funding.for research, travel grants etc better than any private uni in the country
Housing, transport, food on campus, health center, sports, other facilities.
No unnecessary attendance rules - punch in,.punch out like most private universities
Disadvantages
Location is rural Haryana. Sonipat small town nearby. Delhi is away.
If having school going kids, no top class schools in Sonipat like Delhi or Noida/Gurgaon.
If aged parents, no Max, Apollo or high quality hospital in the city.
Rest all fine.
Needs to be discussed because the present discourse in NLUs and JGLS is only focused on criticising Israel and does not criticise Hamas. We see certain student societies even glorify Hamas by calling them”freedom fighters”.
Is it a partner specific thing or the entire culture at the gurgaon office is like that?
JSW-1
Anyhow, how is it even remotely relevant to our lives in India?
Millions of Indians died for our independence. You insult them all.
You must apologise for this kind of thought. Shameful.
Way better than mnlu nagpur you rightly left.
If you want to go abroad, foreign LLM etc choose Jindal. If want to study and work in India, symbiosis is better.

IIM Rohtak is substandard and a disgrace for IIM brand.
It should focus on management. Law is not your cup of tea.
NCR and most north india - Hindi
Chennai - Tamil
Bangalore - Kannad
Mumbai - Hindi and some Marathi slang
Ahmedabad - Hindi with some Gujarati slang
You must be able to read, write and speak these languages. Otherwise you will depend on external counsel and you will be blind during title verifications.
How is it relevant to this platform?
Legally India was better than many of its peers in UK and US a decade ago. Better than roll on Friday, American lawyer magazines.
Now it's garbage. If old Kian saw the sorry state of affairs. He would burn it down.
Honestly Modi shouldn’t worry, coz the data will show that all parties are funded by big business houses ▮▮▮

In any case, it’s pointless seeking to cast blame when young lives have been tragically lost. We need positive solutions like:
- Compulsory airbags
- More speed bumps
- Regular breathalyser tests on roads
👏👏👏👏👏
Fantastic achievement to become the first NLU student to be on Shark Tank and make such a big impact. And, of course, another feather in Law School’s cap. But there are two things I find interesting:
1. He is from the masters course (MBL). There is a tendency to overlook the MBL, but it also attract excellent students and is a great course at an affordable price. The MBL course is especially interesting because it caters to non-law students. Sudhir can really make this a star course. In fact, I am told that even the iPleaders course at NUJS, which was modelled on the MBL, earned NUJS a lot of money and attracted good students.
2. During the show, Aman dismissively asked him why he was studying law. Gaurang explained why law is important. I was disappointed with Aman’s attitude. How can such a big businessman not appreciate the importance of law? Very sad that lawyers are not considered important and MBAs are prized, when many NLU students can outdo IIM students.

These mentioned roads don't have apartments only bunglows and some rare penthouses
Health facilities are great
Getting an apartment for rent might turn out to be a challenge but it is worth it .
Areas like cp , Khan market are less than 25 minutes away . There is 200 acre forest(bonta)
Kamla nagar , du , old delhi are 2 minutes away . Civil lines is away from the hustle of South Delhi, a peaceful location with the best aqi in delhi. There is the building+exchange building) with luxury restaurants and bakeries.
Moreover civil lines offers more comfort for less than half the price compared to areas like safdarjung and GK
( As I have maths in 12th).How are the prospects of law as career , is it really good especially corporate law.( I am the first gen) I got to know about CLAT recently only, I don't have any pure passion for either of the courses to be honest.
Pls help!
No college sports fest.
Whether JAG will continue to be maverick in the political arena remains to be seen. The record of judges as politicians is very poor. Then again those judges were not exactly paragons of virtue who were "corrupted" during their political innings.
Then again, "the Sagardighi" model was a spectacular failure. That MLA is now with the ruling party.
On his own JAG can do little. Given the state of politics, BJP is the only party that can give him the bandwidth. But what will be the Faustian bargain?
the conduct of judges during Emergency isn't the only blot. What about Bhopal Gas tragedy?
This is it.
The rumours about faculty departures and zero increments have left me with some questions about the current state of affairs at Jindal. As someone who's eager to contribute to and grow within the academic community, it's important to me to understand the university's stance on faculty welfare and support. Any leads?
These sum up the situation !
