They rarely convert paralegal to associate. They torture for 6 months, then ask for extension. This happens with every one. I was a paralegal 3 years back. I had support of a senior associate and associate partner. They didn't convert me. I got a much better job. I should have taken up other offers before. I heard some associates from symbiosis pune too were taken as paralegal and then converted after a year! Cheap labor. There's something I heard that an A3 was tortured and made an A0 with reduction in salary. Terrible place. Don't go for it. Blore 5 year associate becomes a partner. Bombay partners are unbearable. Stay away ๐
I was an intern here and can confirm this. One of the paralegals was told on the last day of her 6 month paralegalship that she should show take more interest and initiative and the firm canโt make her a full time associate as of now and asked her to continue another 6 months as a paralegal.
1. The paralegals in the Mumbai office last year got converted to A0s. You work well, fit into the culture, and they'll convert you.
2. There is a very small banking and finance team (โฎโฎโฎ โฎโฎโฎ refuses to do banking mandates anymore, and they have hired โฎโฎโฎ โฎโฎโฎ โฎโฎโฎ, to take over the reins โฎโฎโฎ) โฎโฎโฎ. There is little to no work at times, but when there's work, it's raining work.
3. Pay - decent.
4. Culture - BAD. โฎโฎโฎ
As someone who used to work there, I can tell you that K Law is not a place to start your career at. It's best for lawyers who have given up on their drive and zest for the law but want to take it slow now.
If you are good and can demonstrate that you can deliver the work for the senior team members, you get hired in any law firm, as they want resources who can service clients and bring more clients and increase business. There is no reason to not get hired, if you are good enough. Any service business would run like this.
