SA2, Gurgaon office is wrong
I see IndCorpLaw, IRCCL, and other NLU blogs and journals and frequently try to see where I am going wrong. I have a few publications in journals (which are not very famous or esteemed), and I have a few drafts on which I am constantly working in my free time.
The problem in general is that all I am doing in the name of research is reiterate the same provisions, adding some judgements, past research papers, and some of my personal analysis before concluding that 3β4k word paper. This bothers me, as I'm not really adding anything new to the table. All I do is read and rephrase the descriptive information, add my interpretation, and get done with it.
Now I don't want to pursue academia, but I'm concerned that all I am doing in the name of research is just putting on a facade and not adding anything substantial. If anyone's had similar trouble, I'd like to know your experience and how you improved as a legal writer.
I am from a T3 law college and want to do better in life. Would getting an MBA be a good choice?
NLS: Has geysers in all hostels.
NALSAR: I am sure has better amenities and it would not be possible for you to come from a posh area to NALSAR every day.
NUJS: A 3bhk flat won't cost 45k in Kolkata.
Are you talking about NLUD?
All those placements NLUO shows are from 5 year LLB. People are hostile towards the 3 year LLB.
so, apart from the work and presentation, what else does?

ChatGPT have said GPT4o is a few weeks away from nearly a year now. Clowns are losing all their employees. Itβs a clown fest just scamming investors similar to how big data scammed.
The tech industry runs from one revolutionary tech to another despite having no breakthroughs in the previous tech.
Alternatively, please suggest firms that respect work-life balance?
Please stop assuming stuff. It will help you in the field. To clear the air, I am not a student. Having attempted the course for getting an edge in the recruitment drive at my law school, I left it. after clearing the first stag, upon securing an offer. However, taking up the CS course did result in a good conversation starter in the interview.
thanks.

SOLS and AOR in India.
Assuming both: (a) that one gets admitted to universities that are considered premier/top universities by Indian banks; or (b) one does not get admitted to such universities.
Often times the ones who are most vocal about availability and not taking breaks (PAs, Partners) will be juggling their breaks. Complete switch off is difficult unless you are on a long leave with transition cover or have let everyone know about your limited availability/ weekend travel plans.
In your early years, you can make it easier for yourself by:
- doing work as soon as it is assigned rather then when itβs due, if itβs assigned during reasonable hours
- work sincerely at least 6-7 hours a day, without long breaks, preferably in the morning because things tend to be less likely to be due EOD if they are assigned post 5 pm
- upward management is key, if your supervisor works 8 am - 5 pm you know when you will be expected to be available to discuss, if they work 3 pm - 11 pm it will be different
- with time you will be able to identify client, partner and supervisor patterns. I had a partner who expected acknowledgement emails and confirmation that someone is working on it ASAP, seniors who had no intention of reviewing a draft DD report till 2 weeks later but wanted you to finish the first cut overnight, clients who wanted a memo ASAP but would get around to it in 2-3 days and then keep changing the scope
People come on these platform to share their frustrations, not share how and when do they take their time off.
Please stop it, better focus on writing on some imminent platform and applying for internships and raising the stature of the inst. rather than crying foul.
Prof vijju wont quit untill 2026.
Finances aint your problem, finding ppo/job would be your concern as you pass into 4th/5th.
just stop and show some maturity the administrative officers aint here if you really care then cold mail everyone in the General & Executive council and get things done rather than crying here.
A Bar Bench article could not help professors secured full salary what do you think legally India thread would resolve it .
I get it that NRI-S candidates arenβt as smart as other general candidates at NLUJ. But isnβt this blatant discrimination? They are paying so much more. NLUJ doesnβt give a damn about its NRI candidates tf
Arguably the lengthiest written component as well (6 questions over 6.5 hrs)
Even Harvard and Yale grads have an 80-90% pass rate as first time takers of the California Bar
Secondly, 1 lakh aspirants are for UG and PG combined, around 60k-70k sit for clat. And getting into any random NLU is wayyyy easier when you compare it to a college via LSAT, say, UCLA? And the US law schools also warrant a good GPA. lol, casual equivalent of βNLUs in USAβ. Jfyi, not a single Indian student is joining this yearβs JD colonies. Getting into NLS is tough as hell (even I didnβt make it in my second attempt), but getting into HLS is a different ball game altogether, you have to be the goddess of god mode. Period.
you will need maths to clear the CAT and other such exams.
CLAT UG if want selection in NLS Bangalore
Delhi Judicial Services (Entry Level Judge and not DJ) - 70'000 aspirants for a mere 50 seats. Tougher for General Category students as 60% reservation applies.
Delhi Judicial Services is considered creme la creme of Indian Subordinate Judiciary. In most states Subordinate Judiciary is filled with cesspit people who are incompetent to practice. Delhi Judicial Officers are relatively better, are relatively more knowledgeable.
Delhi Subordinate Judiciary is attractive because of salary, only transfers within city, great infra (by Indian standards) and relative respect (compared to judicial officers in other states)
Delhi Judicial Services advertises 50 vacancies and doesn't fill the same every year. Which makes success rates even less.
Chance of Entry - 1/1400
CLAT India - 1 lakh aspirants for 3000 seats in National Law Universities across the country. Caste Reservations apply here. Different states have different local entrance exams for local government, private colleges.
Chance of success - 1/33
LSAT USA - 1 lakh aspirants. But LSAT conducts admission to all law schools in USA.
There are 40'000 seats which have to be filled through LSAT USA.
Success rate - 1/3 (almost)
Tough for Asians, Whites. Easier for Blacks, Latin Americans. Race based affirmative action.
TOP 14 law schools in USA (Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Northwestern etc) are tougher and require more scores to get in. T14 is the casual equivalent of NLU's in USA. Considered elite. NLU's and T14 Law Schools in USA have equal level of difficulty to get in.
T14 US law schools have 5000 seats.
Success rate - 1/20
Dont confuse LSAT USA with LSAT India. LSAT USA is a tough exam.
LSAT India is a joke of a test and doesn't have any value. Expenses resorts + law schools like JGLS, BITS, Alliance etc use it so they gain legitimacy (Our kids also wrote a tough exam and came here on merit, while reality is bank balance is the only score that matters.
Most of the MBA's work on excel and you need to be good with numbers for that.
So dont be scared of Quant, you have a lot of time. Start working on your quant, eventually you will get. Practice practice practice
Remember there is no mugging up in Quant like in law. It has more do with application of your mind
Corporate culture especially is toxic as hell. Colleagues don't feel like humans but hardwired mindless dummies. Seniors are rude as fuck pure unethical. I dread waking up going to work, no life outside of it. I can't do this for the next 20-30 odd years without getting a few stents and aneursyms. Anything even remotely related to this profession. Litigation equally sucks balls with the shit pay and judiciary is just a rat race. It's like being gangbanged for poor choices. I wish I were good at math during school.. heck even extra curriculars.. to make a career in anything but this line of work.
Or better yet, add me on discord: icecold_21
This goes for everyone who wants to reach out and help each other.
What you have to do while reading a judgment?
1) try to understand the issue
2) understand the matter between the party and the legal issue, if arising
3) the conclusion.
How will this help?
You'll get a hang of the legal language used in the judgments. At some times you won't understand what's happening in it, but even if it's a paragraph you understand, it's an achievement.
Leverage linkedin- lawyers nowadays post various cases and short summaries of important cases or analysis of law. They'll help you over time.
It'll take you over a year gradually to get a hang of it. It won't happen in a day.
You could also try improving your focus while doing a particular thing no matter how much time it takes. Try to set attainable goals for yourself.
Rant over. Trolls stay away. ( Don't want to hear how I'm an entitled brat for not putting up with BS)
I am planning to do MBA after I graduate. My quantitative aptitude is really bad.
and whenever I called them, they never tell any exact date.
I am sick and tired of being like this. I know that most of the lawyers have anxiety issues. My seniors deal with it by yelling on us associates. I am the kind who shuts down. Starts thinking that I am incompetent.
My anxiety failed me in an interview as well. There were easy questions. Which I had a perfect answer in mind and I knew the answer to those. But I couldnβt answer them. Started speaking nonsense. Failed the interview when the JD matched by experience perfectly.
When I was a fresher, I was so confident that I will make it. But now I am soβ¦.
I know my stuff and I love my practice area. But maybe I am not made for law firm.
I'm an incoming A0 in Bangalore and am looking for a PG that is:
- In a 4-5 km range of law firms in central Bangalore (CBD area).
- Near the metro station.
- Has decent food.
If you're an intern or associate who has had a good experience with any PG that falls under the above criteria, please do share about the same.
Thanks a lot!

JGLS will give you the best infra, faculties, research, a good college bg especially for someone looking to get into research, abroad, mix with people who are well off etc. location is a disadvantage.
NMIMS - facilities suck big time. Very few good faculties. You'll have an 80% attendance policy. But the location is gold. Allows you to intern year round, keeps lectures early so that you can work along. Batch siz is huge. Its for people who want to just have a decent college tag and work full time for a job.
I would choose ILS to get a good deal overall. NMIMS for the location and internship opportunities.
A concluding anecdote: (please don't mark trollish). A few years ago, there was a story about Lord Cameron (the former British PM and current Foreign Secretary) that when he was at Oxford, he joined a student club which had one of those strange initiation rituals, this one involving the new male person joining shoving a private body part into the mouth of a dead pig. When I asked a (Oxford graduate) friend a few weeks later what he'd be doing over the weekend, his reply was, 'I'll be going to visit my uni, you know the one which has a student society where the requirement to join is that you can shove your cock in a pig's mouth'.
