Is it possible to move laterally from an Inhouse role to any T1 Law firm, or do they discard your experience?
I guess then you dont come out of your room, last time (this year) when i visited nls campus for trilateral, and everywhere it was either lawskul lawskul/ or nalsar nalsar
1) Vepa P. Sarathi (don't go beyond 6th edition), 2) Cross and Tapper, and 3) Ratanlal and Dhirajlal are good for evidence law. 1) P.S.A. Pillai, and 2) Andrew Ashworth should be good for IPC.
Thanks, that was very helpful. Now, anyone who has first hand knowledge of what was asked, kindly answer.
How sensible is for a fresher to join a bank (not a big 4 bank). Do law firms take lateral from banks? if yes what practice areas would help?
Hi! Could you guys please recommend some good books for the following subjects:

1) Evidence

2) IPC
Bumping this thread, what are the chances now of getting a PPO at CAM cap marks, considering the merger with Lahoty's team?
It was more work than actually doing a real internship. Had to be incredibly meticulous and research thoroughly about my fake internship. But it helped me EOD and I used it to get great internships after which I phased it out of my cv
Watch out, A capital markets team partner at CAM Noida has put in his papers. Moving with entire team πŸ‘€ (guess not everyone's happy with ML's joining, can totally sense the weird tension in the CM team at CAM)
I have been studying at NLS for a few years now and I have not heard anyone use this slogan on campus.
None of the answers above seem even remotely plausible. Does anybody really know why this is the case?
16-17 LPA is a myth . I doubt more than 5-10 students get placed in a year that too from 5 year batch
Wadia is clear - better for CV value for sure and if you are proactive you will get good quality work as an intern (emphasis on being proactive) as they do tend to have a lot of interns.
How to convert an internship into a callback to PPO (Tier 1)
Hate to disagree but the locals are very hostile towards non kannadigas. Writing feom own experience.
AC was supposed to be around 12-14 september. Considering everything has been delayed due to the extension, is it likely to change aswell? What has been the case in previous years?
I've heard of a rejection, could be false wasn't direct information
Also RKL hired dozens of partners after the split with mohit, but couldn't close with his protege! I find it hard to believe.
I'm a Non-NLU grad (fresher) and have an interview with AG sir (Partner - Dispute Resolution). What kind of questions should I expect?
Trilegal Call Backs & PPOs are purely based on the team. Some teams are faster than others. I know someone who got a call back email within a week from completion, whereas, my call back email came after three weeks. It just depends on the team.
Is there any partner at all who has steady and good work in this practice area at the Mumbai office? I understand that overall the Mumbai office has a bad reputation in M&A. However, is there even one good partner?
Anyone who could comment on the team structure, mandates, working hours etc?
I am not able to get a confirmation over there. Could you advice on other teams, like SAM, Tri, JSA etc.
Title explains it. I am a third-year BA LLB student, planning to intern in Delhi in October this year. Any suggestions alongside working conditions will be appreciated!
Of course. He is taking a leak and you're accosting him. You deserved it. Go learn some manners instead of whining about it. You won't get sympathy if yoyre acting like an idiot. Do better.
I wanna apply for a long-term internship/paralegalship at Luthra (Delhi/Mumbai). What is the procedure? Should I directly approach the partner whose team I’m interested in?
To any junior reading this, do learn from the actions of this halfwit of an OP and avoid repeating his oafish and ill mannered behaviour.
you missed the most important part where do I send the internship application?
Next time, try catching him when he's showering!!

The sense of entitlement going around is unbelievable.
This was just a butthurt response to the everpresent chants of "Law school ka baap kaun? NALSAR NALSAR" at every edition of Trilateral.
do an internship with a judge at SC at the end of your third year, make contacts with high flying lawyers there, ask the judge for an informal introduction, unless you get a very strict judge you will be informally introduced to a good lawyer
Hi!

I interned in one of the Corp teams of 3L Bangalore, in June. Reaching out to understand if they've sent out call-back emails etc. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
I believe the title performed sufficiently in communicating the issue.

I also know WHO uses y'all like that in conversations.

I am coming for you... villainous laughter and background thunder
I would like to know hiring scene at JSA competition team. Someone please give some insight.
Any idea how I can get an internship with them? They supposedly only take people who have won moots, is this true?
its true that 2 weeks is for people who get in through contact, but it's ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE that they don't hire people who have gotten through contact. If they like your work, they usually give you an extension (2-3 weeks).
Oh yes, and public law, in addition to the other items mentioned.
You may not be. Other students who promote these courses; of course do.
Join a bank. Gain experience for one year and you’ll be hired by lower tier firms and then eventually vide lateral entry by a firm.
they claim to focus on the global south which seems very niche, their content also looks decent. Is it any good? any thoughts? Is it worth sending my work to them?
thanks a lot much helpful and encouraging than the vile sometimes LI threads comes witg
what? i have found them extra selective. got rejected twice for 2 different submissions, one of which was later accepted in icl
You don’t want to join B&F, Trust me.

In bigger teams, you are just doing mind numbing work with extreme deadlines most of the time. If it’s your first experience of a β€œreal job”, you will end up hating law. Not the best way to start your career.
I sincerely hope you forgot to add β€˜/s’ at the end of whatever you wrote.

If not, then we are collectively glad that you got schooled.
Satadru is a great senior. Knows his shit, his clients love him, is fair and values talent, looks out for juniors.
Ooooohhh. I heard this rumour about this girl from a T-1 NLU who when on to do an LLM from an Ivy League faking her internship experiences on CV. Wonder if that was true. Cause if it was it can take you to good places.
Corp 5 and Corp 3 are better than 99% of the teams in India all things considered. Perfect places to start off working. 1% I've left to not be extremely absolute. But any of these teams you can blindly testify for their culture and work.
All the faculty mentioned above have a Doctoral Degree from good institutions and work experience in academic settings. Now we have 24year old freshly minted LLM grads teaching us now!!!
Who is forcing you to go there? Go somewhere else if you want vocational training.
The Law is the primary tool for economic exploitation and class domination. So fitting to study it in the law school.
Just a correction. BITS for sure is not paying Jindal level salary. I had been offered a job there though I hadn't applied myself and they had offered a salary a few thousands more than the 7th CPC salary that's offered at the NLUs.
Worst State Bar. They have even stopped sending ID cards for provisional registration of 2 years. On the other hand, every other state bar is providing ID Cards for the Provisional Registration also.
Recommendations on good Technology law firms to begin career with in India with salary details?
Agnish is a great guy, can attest the same. He's filed this simply because of being SA at Aquilaw, and has got nothing to do with being a young TMC activist. He's a full time lawyer, and a good one.
I know 3 people who got hired and had done 2 week internships at SAM from my college
I guess my previous internships which made me study procedural laws and NLU tag worked after all. Ended up with a stipend enough to cover travel expenses and some occasional snacks here and there!
I am about to join an AMC that works mainly in AIFs and stressed assets. Can anyone please shed light on how is the work in this profile and what the growth/switch options?
I want to change the month of my call back with the bnf team? what are the odds
Not really, you're an idiot. You were better of just directly calling him up for an internship.
Can someone help me with career options in corporate law? I have completed my LLM degree with business law as my specialisation. I am unaware of roles as I am first gen and really confused. Kindly help if you can. Thank you
Hi, does anyone know what's the process to apply at NSE. Also what's the pay scale and work environment like in legal corporate team?
I taught an elective a while ago- was paid immediately after submitting final results. For every bad story there might be many where there was no issue.
Bhai what else did you expect from him in a washroom while urinating? Seriously you need to learn some manners.
So the thing is 2 week internship is for people who are through Jugaad. They don't hire jugaad people.
Completely agree. If you want to study Karl Marx and Foucault, why are you in a law school??? You should be studying sociology!!!
MODERATE FAST PLEASE ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO SEE IF SOMEONE GOT AN UPDATE OR NOT
They tend to be very detailed with their reviews and feedback. Usually reasonably prompt but does not have an expedited review option for contemporary pieces.
The proper exodus of faculty is represented by people who left for Shiv Nadar and BITS: Shiv Swaminathan, Anuj Bhuwania, Vishwas Devaiah, Ashish Bharadwaj, Neha Tayshete etc.
NUALS Law Journal is great tbh. I have heard that the editorial board always provides great reviews. So regardless of whether you get your piece published, you'll surely get good feedback to improve on.
Point 3 is the main issue at hand. Also point 5. That's never happening.
Agreed! Avoid Corp 2 at all costs. Corp 5 is excellent and if not Corp 5, then go for Corp 3.
20k is the stipend, The interview is chill. Honestly won't advice but you do you
In India, unless it’s a big professional firm, please always call up HR and follow up. People don’t care unless you call them up and chase.

In fact - even after you join your job, you’ll be chasing parties to share documents during DD.
Apply again to T2, T3 law firms. Track law firm partners who are leaving firms to set up practice. Reach out to seniors for vacancies.
How's it going now, three years after this original comment and discussion?
Following Professors have moved from Jindal to NLSIU:

AshritaPrasad KothaAnupama Sharma

Atreyee Majumdar( JSLH)

Balu G Nair

Radhika Chitkara
Well, I may not be too interested in legal theory and just wanna practice the law? Will NLS accept me?
