On revaluation, it takes time, reval usually takes place after the next trimester has started, so your friend may have to wait a bit longer for that.
If you want to do academia in India - do an llm at nlu or some other college (3L) and then do a PhD.
Foreign llm has no value in the Indian job market. Even in international job market it doesn't have much of value. It's almost impossible or very difficult to get hired as a lawyer in US / UK / EU with a foreign llm of that respective jurisdiction. They prefer native lawyers with JDs. Immigration is difficult. Law is not a skill like nursing or engineering for which foreigners are even considered.
If you are really rich and can comfortably spend 50L to 90L without any loans zero expectations of return on investment. Then go for foreign llm. It can give some exposure if it's a right college. I would say save 70% of that amount. Spend a summer travelling across Europe or north America instead of an llm.
Even at top places like Stanford, NYU, Cambridge. It's pretty much easier to get an LLM than any other degree. LLM is just a cash cow for these colleges and are not job oriented courses.
My primary motive of asking this question can I replace my non nlu with something else that can be seen as sign of intelligence. My college is decent at best

Of course, there are two major exceptions to this. One, if you want to work in academia. Two, if you want to do specialized policy research that requires a specialized LLM area. This goes for any kind of job that requires particular specialization, not just policy, to be fair. But these kinds of jobs are extremely few in number.
So if you're thinking of pursuing corporate law/litigation, no, they are not of much use. However, there are some niche areas apart from academia where they may help, but I'd still say its worth is not even close to the amount of money you put in. Unless you get a scholarship, of course. In which case, enjoy your paid one-year vacation.
Helpful because it gives a good suggestion as to the direction you might want to take in your career. In fact, it gives you a pretty clear roadmap!
Unhelpful because it is a paradigmatic situation of doing the working correctly but still arriving at the wrong answer. Therefore, only 3/5 in my book, I am afraid. At the end of the day, all manner of skills, experiences and abilities can serve as helpful indicators as to how or why you may make a great commercial lawyer to a recruiter. Chess can equally be one of those skills. Indeed, one of my best friends is a trainee at Linklaters London office (also got a TC offer from Clifford Chance) who mentioned having played chess competitively representing her uni on her law firm applications and they were quite impressed by it.
So by all means: develop your skills in a practice area. But do and talk about other things that make you memorable. Loads of folks follow this exact roadmap which this response to which I am responding has suggested. If your application can be the one which follows this roadmap and adds to it by talking about your chess experience and if you have done well, then so much the better for you, I'd have thought... after all, that extra thing is what sets you apart from the others.
NB: I don't play chess so don't understand it and what you might have achieved in it. (Tried to play when I was younger but somehow couldn't take much interest in it.) Therefore, the only thing I'd add is to take this advice I have given with some caution if you haven't done awfully well in chess, and you don't see any prospect of yourself doing so in the future.
I'm particularly interested in differences in deal size, quality and complexity of work, cross-border matters, and overall learning.
If there are any differences between both does it show up more drastically as one becomes more senior, or does it largely even out over time?

These are all campus recruitment figures and not PPOs, apart from this I believe LKS and Tri also handed out assessment internships on day z
Also, do not get carried away by a firm’s marketing machinery. We unfortunately live in a time where visibility is often mistaken for capability, and some people are better at selling the image of good work than actually doing it. So, ignore the noise and examine the content. Speak to former interns, juniors and people who have actually worked with the relevant partner (may be tier 1 firm or tier 3/4 firm - doesn't matter). Ask what work they received and whether the experience matched the public persona.
60 lakh is even unheard of as appearance fees . Gopal charges 25 lakh for single appearance and is charging 60 lakh for conference is not believable.

Is Bombay to Bangalore a good switch?
To avoid hiring, they give 2-3 offers to the top rankers, knowing they would reject and choose an amarchand or khaitan or azb. That way they keep their identity alive.
Infact its better they have backed out, because that genuinely saves the candidates’ time. Because saraf anyways doesn’t come with the intent to hire.
For most of the lot that joined before the pay revision, they were promised during the interview that pay would be given at par with the other associates (that is the new pay) but bonus was forgone.
The firm thinks they're smart about their numbers and increment but they basically are just lying to you.
The increments, bonus and salary is not translucent, forget about transparency.

IP litigation is the real money maker. DHC has a really well established IPD framework. Bombay, Madras and other HCs are catching up. However Bombay does not have a dedicated IPD yet. Bonus point is you get original side civil-commercial litigation exposure at the High Courts, so you can also lateral switch to other fields of litigation later in your career. On the contrary if u choose IP Prosecution it gets real hard to switch areas later cause of the limited exposure.
