3rd year at another T1 here, and I've travelled to NUJS a couple of times- for moots and fests, and have a good number of acquaintances there.

People use standardised metrics, such as "infra", "placements", etc to weigh NLUs against each other, but these parameters don't give us the complete picture of life at a particular uni, especially NUJS.

Being effectively SJA run means complete freedom to do anything, anywhere- both on and off campus. I've noticed that noojies in particular are extremely passionate about their college, and do anything to defend it tooth and nail. NUJS has a distinct culture born out of a very unique collective experience. As a result, both students and alumni are very tied to this place, and even within law firms, NUJS alum form a clique amongst themselves. Based on the conversations I've had with both alum and students there, I've noticed that not only are they doing very well for themselves (job, intern, moot, publications), but have extremely fulfilling lives outside this. Qualitatively too, NUJS students seem to be much more street smart- they excel when they have to, and party the rest of the time.

In spite of all the problems the uni faces on a day-to-day basis (be it dogshit infra or non-existent admin), NUJS still consistently outperforms every other law-school in moots, ADRs, job opportunities, and even higher-education. People can hate NUJS all they want, but the place has something that no other law school has.

Err...no. As someone from NUJS, I can tell you that the academic standards of this place don't exist any more. Students barely know anything in any subject. It's been ages since we have won any international moot, it's been over 5 year since a Rhodes scholarship has been won, the number of foreign firm offers has dwindled, so has UPSC performance. Rampant instances of cheating in exams and AI use for projects. Brain farts from admin, multiple cases of POSH, random decisions from incompetent Deans, absentee VC and ineffective SJA, these are the hallmarks of NUJS now.

As a student from NUJS, I can confirm this. There is rampant use of cheating in exams, and that too with generative AI. We all know who they are, and if only the university could afford a functional CCTV system, maybe a few of them could be caught as well, as the invigilators are more or less useless. The rank list is no longer a true reflection of merit, and quite a few times we have had a problem with the "dwindling competence" of the students leaving the ADR and MCS societies apart from now because the rampant corruption that has creeped on there is also quite visible.

As a student at NSLIU, I too can confirm this for us. For the Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing course conducted for Bo'28 between Mar-May 2026, 70% of the score was from a set of seven in-class group handwritten drafting exercises, of which attending any five was mandatory (and if you attended more, the best five were considered, and then the score out of 50 was scaled up to 70). For starters, the same question paper was used for three sections despite one section doing it earlier than the other two (effectively leaking the question for 2/3 of the batch with more than an hour to prepare accordingly, of which much use was in fact made, every single time).

If that wasn't bad enough, professors turned a blind eye when invigilating the exercises, and very often most professors would even leave the classroom for extended periods of time (10 or more minutes). As a result, there was almost no group which did not have at least one member hiding their phone beneath their desk and using generative AI to dictate the text to another member of the group who did the writing. People also used their phones to simply refer to the digital copy of the format for the draft shared earlier by the professors, to replicate the same in the answers. Everyone saw it happen, I myself am eyewitness to many people doing it.

The irony of ironies is that the futility of the evaluation method was repeatedly demonstrated to the relevant authorities (professors in-charge of academic affairs), and it was pointed out to faculty that using the same question/prompt when one section does it first is a bad idea. None of them gave a damn, nothing was changed. It might be delusional of me, but I hope publishing this here brings some attention to this so that such rampant fraud and poor course design is better prevented going forward.

University can afford CCTVs, SJA has been fighting against such installation since ages. If the invigilators start frisking or other measures, the same SJA will be up in arms about violation of constitutional rights. So the students are the ones who are responsible for cheating and complicit in its facilitation.

NUJS students are very active when it comes to posting on social media about Modi, Palestine, Cockroach protests etc. Ask them about corruption and misgovernance at NUJS, then they go quiet.

The SJA is nothing but a vanity project for certain guys to wield power, get prominence, hit on girls etc.

Lol, when it comes to biased alum, every law school has their own. Agree with most of the other points, with the caveat that other than NLSIU, standards really don't exist for NLUs anymore. NUJS is certainly worse than NALSAR and NLUD in every aspect now, be it VC, faculty, students, or infra.

Random UG Program on Forensic Science? Do you forget it is B.Sc. LL.B. and not B.Sc. and we study the syllabus as our BA counterpart. Till last sem we even had common papers for both the batches.

Also get your facts right regarding attendance policy. In my three years here every sem there is a drama regarding attendance and they debar quite a lot of people despite having non functional pathetic erp portal or sometimes no portal to check your attendance at all. Further we only get a total of only 30 days of internship exemption in 4th and 5th year combined. 0 attendance policy and 24x7 internships is utterly misleading. Clown please your facts right before you comment.

No. Academically the best means the place where the faculty and students produced highest scholarship (journal articles and books) in both quality and numbers. Someone can check Elsevier / Scopus database.

NLS, Jindal, DU, IIT KGP, even NLUD and Nalsar must be ahead of NUJS.
