Keep applying via forms. Follow the LRs on LinkedIn. They usually put out calls for internship applications. Draft a compelling Cover Letter, highlighting 3 things: 1. Why a SC Judicial Internship 2. Why you intend to intern with the particular HMJ concerned and lastly 3. How you could contribute to the Office, alongside a 2-pager CV. Try to highlight your research experience and litigation experience, if any.

It is imperative that you apply to as many Judicial Chambers as you can to maximise your chances.

Intriguingly, I happened to study at a T-1000 law school in West Bengal (located at some obscure corner of the wide wide world xd) yet I converted 2 Judicial Chambers, including a Collegium Judge. I did have extensive HC exposure though, with multiple judicial internships at the HC level,and I had worked as a long-term intern/trainee under the tutelage of a doyen of the Criminal Bar at Cal HC, so I did possess relevant experience.

I wish to shift my practice area to commercial litigation, wcc, ADR, preferably in Delhi. I have some experience in appearing before tribunals and courts.

I wish to shift to T1/T2 firm, preferably a place where the salary is not in peanuts + get mix of both the worlds (before diving deep into the galaxy of IDT (hole 🕳️)

What do you think, who can be an expert of an industry who's inception was just a few years ago? The complexity of this technology which exists, the grey area which the industry operates in needs a lot of research on the legal side. The type of relationship which platform-users have when the assests are beholded as an agent by platform or otherwise in decentralized wallets(WEB 3) which is another research aspect as to its legality which involves whether defi lending should be allowed?

Inshort, not even Big Law partners can be experts at this moment but all of them are in a race to potray themselves to be crypto experts before the industry gets legally recognised and regulations come in akin to VARA of Dubai in India(Might take years for that to happen).

Finally, more legal work in the industry is on the products side and requirements of regulatory checks with stock trading industry for the new initiatives in the trading activites of VDA's.

Hello everyone, I'm a third year law student and I'm very confused about my future. I am not from an NLU or a good well known private college, I'm from a decent state University and I'm anxious after this 3yr practice rule. Initially the plan was to clear judiciary and I was working hard to prepare for that, but I can't afford to do litigation for 3yr now because I come from a middle class family and I need to earn money to sustain my family. I had big dreams but unfortunately I could not clear clat, not that I haven't work hard it's just that it wasn't written in my destiny. Now I feel like a failure again because my "college name" can never guarantee me a placement. I have approached a lot of people via email & linkedin for corporate internships but most of them either said no or didn't respond. And I've been doing this for the past 2 yrs.

I don't know what am I going to do. Can you all suggest me other alternatives or just help me out in any way possible?

My main question is: If you were an Indian law fresher/graduate done with the enrolment process, planning the next 2 years specifically to build the strongest possible SQE2 exemption application, which firms/practice groups in Chennai or elsewhere in India would you target, and what kind of work would you make sure to get?

Would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has actually gone through the SRA qualified-lawyer/SQE exemption process, or knows someone who has.

hey! for me, it was mostly related to the work i did when i was working with them which was mentioned in the CV. have a fair idea of what you have worked in conceptually, and principally why and how that fits in the context of what the team is trying to do. for instance, if it is an RE project, why is that project important, how it leads to impact for different stakeholders (maybe a client) etc.

also be clear about bare minimum processes, compliances, clearances and make sure to go through the electricity act, its important sections and electricity rules. best of luck!

There are 4 partners in the corporate practice - Rohan Shah, Navomi, Adil, and Vivek Pareek. They don't have separate teams and use a common pool of associates. There is no single partner who leads the practice, but Bikash Jhawar sort of oversees the team. Quality of work is decent, and pay is around the T1 level. I have heard that the team has good wlb.

In litigation (if you already have a house in Bombay), you'll def learn and build a solid foundation in Bombay, whose Bar is much more professional than Delhi. However, do note that virtually all chambers in Bombay have a principal of pupillage and won't pay you in the initial phase at all.

do both, apply for associate positions, Ik someone who did that, got an assessment instead and just got his confirmation last friday, there are few firms where you cant intern after graduation, kco for example does not let one intern, but firms like trilegal have no rule against it, good luck :)

How important are these “compatibility/team fit” grounds? As someone junior who is perfectly fine with doing good work and working extra long hours when needed why are some teams/personalities in law firms so obsessed with this? If everyone is getting their work done and is pleasant why the need for this additional layer to be kept around by the team? I’m not the original poster but curious

Would you say British administration was efficient? In many ways, it was. They created infrastructure that has lasted almost 2 centuries, unlike bridges that don't manage to survive a single rain. However efficient was the administration, it wasn't "us" ruling ourselves. The decision making primarily was done by the Brits.

Boss is a workaholic and is good at what he does, but he also wants his junior to be a workaholic - like expecting to be available round the clock, working even when you are sick, pulling all nighters, leaving office late, coming to the office on weekends, etc.

I msan this will fuck my health and is not sustainable in long term. I will face a cognitive decline if I put pressure on myself like this (the workload is wierd due to the lack of structure in place).

Is this the norm everywhere? I don't shy away from work but it cannot be to an extent where it becomes unsustainable. Not to mention an environment like this won't allow anyone the opportunity to build a client book.

Should have joined there when I had the chance . Instead after not cracking a T1/T2 NLU, I joined a sarkari college at my hometown where 99% have not even heard about law firms.

Hi everyone. I am a final year student from a Non-NLU with an atypical graduation schedule. My college also has strict attendance requirement and I would be only able to intern after my graduation in December. I have done few internships at Tier 1 and Tier 2 law firms including a callback.

I aim to work in a GC team at a Tier 1 / Tier 2 law firm (although Capmarks will also do). What's your advice for me. Should I do paralegalships/ assessment internships after graduation to build more credibility and try to convert it into an A0 position? Or should I just apply as an associate directly after graduation?

Are software engineering careers the only ones with good scope right now, or are there other high-paying, future-proof careers—especially in law, such as data privacy, AI governance, cybersecurity GRC, legal tech, compliance, and regulatory roles—that offer strong opportunities abroad? Rn everybody is choosing Cs and getting job and all are saying law has no scope and I'm doomed that studying law has no effect and I have started losing the interest in studying law.
