TMT is a broad bucket (abbreviation for Telecom, Media, Tech). The term was created when there was growing sectoral regulation due to advancements in these industries, and existing laws were not sufficient to fully address the issues arising therefrom.
Over a period of time, and in particular, more recently, TMT has been used to cover any upcoming area of law - Fintech, Media and Entertainment, Gaming - essentially anything that may have an interplay with either the T, M, or T. As pointed out above, this primarily includes data privacy, telecom, media, and tech regulations.
Certain TMT teams have specialised focuses - for instance, Harsh Walia at Khaitan & Co specialises in Telecom. Jaideep Reddy from Trilegal and Smita Jha from Khaitan & Co focus on Fintech and Crypto. This does not, however, mean that they do not advise on other areas of law that form part of the broader TMT bucket.
IPR, being a separate field of its own, has separate specialised partners that work in the industry. It is very rare to now see an IP team also advise on general TMT laws. You could argue that the AZB IP teams do broader work than just core IP, and therefore, are TMT teams. However, they continue to be characterized as an IP practice (whose core focus would be trademarks, copyrights, and design prosecution work, along with transactional support to their corporate and M&A teams).
The opportunities are fewer given that the number of partners in the industry are limited. However, if you make it to a Tier 1 practice, the pay is often at par with other corporate teams. Your bonus will directly depend on the amount of work your partner brings, and a function of how well you bill (or appease to your partners). There is differential pay in certain "IP" teams but the pay still exceeds what is paid by pure boutiques.
Main goal is government job but getting afraid seeing so much competition and so much people giving every single exam and unpredictable pattern and all of exams.

Isn't that laughable?
Don't trust the ▮▮▮ in the thread replying yes :)
I don't have a proper list, just going off what I've heard from friends who have been through the process.
I know it's commonly advised to read the law well.
Just curious to know if there's anything that one should be mindful of while making decision about the next boss - like the internet is full of 100s of advice on how to crack the interview but no one tells you what to look for in the prospective boss. How to judge the interviewer as a boss? Especially when this factor is most crucial in deciding where one may land in the future.
My interview is for a mid level position (SA/PA) bracket.
need it now for 2027 batchhh god

Now your turn: show us the official academic record or course documentation establishing Modi’s “Entire Political Science” degree from Gujarat University. Not a press conference, not a certificate displayed by the BJP, but the university record showing that “Entire Political Science” was actually the name of an academic programme.
If you’re asking for proof from the other side, the same standard should apply to you.

2. Delay in decision so much that students don’t remember they asked for it
3. Handle student protest sleeping in VC bungalow waiting for students to get tired and leave
4. Boot lick judges and chief justice to keep the post safe and get second term
5. Small coterie of admin and faculty surround him/her. No system or process for anything
You guys can add more.
Additionally, who takes the second round? What kind of questions do they ask?
Also open to recommendations for other boutique firms or practice areas that offer good learning exposure.
Could you kindly shed some light on the CTC that may be expected (Fixed+ Variable) for a PA role in the KCO IP team, if the move is from a Tier 1 IP to KCO? The work life balance?
Alternatively, can we get access to the backup sheet as a non-editable Excel doc shared via a Drive link for the time being?
@LI team, give your email id in a post and ask the google g to contact you
I am wondering what does this read as? How important are questions in such high-level technical rounds? Should I hold out hopes?
Would love to hear thoughts on this.
Thanks!
:)
Just apply to any and every opportunity you find by tailoring your experience to whatever the vacancy is for. It will be slightly difficult to explain why you're doing an IPR LLM and still applying for a gen corp vacancy, but it'll be ten times harder to even land an interview for a TMT team at any decently paying law firm team with an Indian LLM.
If you're dead set on IPR, then yes, realistically, your best shot is boutique firms and litigation chambers that pay less than 40-50k per month, and hope to work your way upwards from there. It's not an easy journey, but I earnestly wish you the best of luck.

I wanted to know when will KCO send out offer letters and can anyone explain what does 'retainer basis' mean?
Also do we have to do a mandatory internship or will we be directly posted as an A0?
Any insights shall be appreciated!
Which T-2 firms can be considered who are more likely to not discount the experience but will give a pay cut which is better than a discount of experience?
Should T-1 firms in non-T1 cities also be considered?

What exactly is the reward for going above and beyond in litigation? Another 5-10 years of struggle where you barely break even in the hope of making senior advocate after 20 years?
Having explored other practice areas during my internships, and M&A was clearly the best fit, so switching practice areas doesn't feel like the solution.
For those who have been in a similar spot, how did you manage to sustain this work long-term? Did you eventually pivot in-house, move into a non-legal role, or leave the industry entirely? Any advice or perspective would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!
Lender (Kuch clauses hai apni marzi ke, kuch fakt majboori hai),
Borrower (Phir waqt bhi bahut thoda hai)
The counsels in between (Par saare clauses zaroori hai!)
There are dumb kids and smart kids, even among the privileged. And unless you were on the Bertie Wooster level of thick, you would never come to this site to get advice if you really had as much privilege as this person claims to have.
