Even back in the day when this entire episode played out, my main concern was how damaging this would be to the CCI’s (already questionable) credibility.
It took CCI years to finally get the PNJ issues in check and now they are drowning under the pressure of their own sarkar.
It would regularly send proposals to the commission members, the CCI would act on issues where them saw enough merit. This was the scene about 10 years ago. The present day reality of this sarkari wing is just disappointing.

To avoid hiring, they give 2-3 offers to the top rankers, knowing they would reject and choose an amarchand or khaitan or azb. That way they keep their identity alive.
Infact its better they have backed out, because that genuinely saves the candidates’ time. Because saraf anyways doesn’t come with the intent to hire.
For most of the lot that joined before the pay revision, they were promised during the interview that pay would be given at par with the other associates (that is the new pay) but bonus was forgone.
The firm thinks they're smart about their numbers and increment but they basically are just lying to you.
The increments, bonus and salary is not translucent, forget about transparency.

IP litigation is the real money maker. DHC has a really well established IPD framework. Bombay, Madras and other HCs are catching up. However Bombay does not have a dedicated IPD yet. Bonus point is you get original side civil-commercial litigation exposure at the High Courts, so you can also lateral switch to other fields of litigation later in your career. On the contrary if u choose IP Prosecution it gets real hard to switch areas later cause of the limited exposure.
For ref, Gopal subramaniam charges ~60L per conference per hour or so (though this is from 2 years ago).
Now he is going to impose a $ 100,000 tax on foreign students who want to work in the US. If at all he relaxes it, it will probably only be for STEM grads.
So is this the end of Indian students applying to the US for LLM? The only demographic will be wealthy people who do not wish to work there and who want to come back home, after some exposure abroad. But wouldn’t this demographic rather apply to the UK, where the fees are less? Settle for Oxford/Cambridge instead of Harvard/Yale, or LSE instead of Columbia/Stanford, or KCL/UCL instead of NYU/Chicago? Would that be such a bad thing, given that our laws are closer to the UK? And the UK is a far more welcoming country.
It's smart for them.

And why leave out DYC? In September 2025, Times Higher Education had a bombshell story in the works: A star sociology professor at the University of Cambridge had allegedly plagiarized parts of his Ph.D. thesis and several journal articles. In one of the articles, the borrowed text appeared in quotes from subjects the professor, Jason Arday, claimed to have interviewed himself.
But after Arday enlisted Carter-Ruck, one of the United Kingdom’s leading defamation law firms, to send Times Higher Education a letter, the publication spiked the story, according to three sources who spoke to Retraction Watch.
One of the sources was David Sanders, a biochemist at Purdue University in Indiana, and a sleuth who contributes to the Times Higher Educationon topics related to academic misconduct. He reviewed a 63-page dossier of text comparisons prepared by the publication last year and came back with his own findings. “There is no question that there is extensive plagiarism,” Sanders told us.…
Harris wanted to know if Arday could explain some “puzzling similarities” between sentences in that article and a BMJ Open study from epidemiologist Anjum Memon about mental health services in Black and minority communities. Arday ignored his first email, but when Harris followed up several days later, Arday was blunt. “Instead of spending your time trying to dismantle racism and ableism, you have spent what I assume is hours combing through my work looking for mistakes,” he wrote. Arday told Harris not to contact him again: “Anything further from you will be considered bullying and harassment.”
Harris soon recruited a colleague, Martyn Hammersley, a sociologist at Open University, to review the Social Sciences article himself, and he, too, was concerned. On May 19, 2023, Hammersley sent an email to Hilary Cremin, the Head of the Faculty of Education at Cambridge, and to Rhys Morgan, the university’s Head of Policy, Governance, and Integrity:

And let’s be blunt: a BA from Surrey, MA from St Mary’s and PhD from Liverpool John Moores? Are others with degree from such low-ranked universities hired by them? And being fast-tracked to professorship at such a young age and with much fewer publications than his peers?

I feel we also need transparency on the number of SC/ST/OBC candidates graduating from each NLU. Because privileged upper castes will stand a better chance of being placed. Some NLUs may not be implementing reservation properly, so unfair to compare NLU X with 80% caste reserved candidates with NLU Y with 20% reserved.

That said, if you do good work, i.e., try hard - the attempt should be clear; know what you're talking about; take initiative and gain his confidence - the team is a great place for juniors to learn. As regards pay, he is not stingy with end of year ratings and bonuses. So you can make the top pay band at Trilegal if you prove your worth. Would highly recommend joining as an A1/A2 (if you have thick skin or are willing to develop it).
He tries his best to respect weekends, and also tries his best to push back against unreasonable deadlines (of course, if the client insists, the client insists). Leaves are generally respected as long as work is transitioned properly beforehand.
