Maybe people who mugg up stuff for โฎโฎโฎ years is not something firms are looking for?
Maybe firms are looking for people with soft skills too?
Maybe develop that rather than cribbing about it here?
You'll find a decent balance between corporate lawyers at T1s, litigators, bureaucrats and judiciary, although links in foreign firms are a bit lacking. They're generally receptive. Good mooting culture within the uni as well, you can find helpful guides from within the base.
I personally believe there are two sides of the story. Certain Jindal students have a reputation for being very entitled, arrogant and disrespectful to their teachers, who they look down upon for not being as rich as them. I think we should hear the Chief Proctorโs version too.
Lastly, it is hypocritical for ultra-rich Jindal students to take up the cause of workers rights. If they are genuinely committed, they should leave Jindal and join a government college. Stop cosplaying as Marxists.
Selected through vacant seat should I take admission or not right now doing bcom as i didn't expect to get call from Any college my rank was around 2800
Also, a big slap to Sudhir Krishnaswamy, who was telling the India Today conclave that skill development does not matter and Law schools should focus on theoretical principles and forget the job market. Will he clothe and feed law grads then?
Also, the advice to do an MBA is well taken, but there too jobs are limited.
Also Business is about to pick up nicely only these law firms struggling with over hiring are presenting a glooming picture. Just ride out the wave or maybe ring up some company for a in house gig in the interim.
I have been asked to do a presentation for my Assessment Internship and was wondering if you can help me in deciding a topic for the presentation. Till now I have 3 topics:
1. Open Access
2. AI in Law
3. Related Party Transactions
I feel none of these topics are helpful. If possible can you suggest to me something to make my presenation on? Thanks.
In a novel step, each lawyer has been told in their retainer letter as to how much they stand to make at different performance levels (below expectation (โBEโ), meets expectation (โMEโ) and exceeds expectation (โEEโ)), in addition to the fixed retainer (โFRโ). I am mentioning numbers for A1, A2, and A3 levels below but please note that these numbers are lawyer specific and depend on their previous yearโs rating as well. All figures in lakhs and pre-TDS.
A1 - 18 FR + [2.85 (BE) / 3.35 (ME) / 4 (EE)].
A2 - 21 FR + [3.57 (BE) / 4.2 (ME) / 5 (EE)].
A3 - 25.5 FR + [4.97 (BE) / 5.85 (ME) / 7 (EE)].
These increased bands are applicable with retrospective effect from 1 April 2023 so everyone who received arrears yesterday got a nice surprise.
PS - I am not aware of SA level pay and not in a position to source these either.
Why did they all of a sudden go ahead with the decision? Any idea?
I'm a second wave feminist who wants women to burn bras and destroy gender roles- but this analysis is just so silly and stupid. Western clothes are just as patriarchal and regressive. Look at how women dress in hollywood movies! Its all catering to such male gaze! Dont start with how women actually wear high heels and live in pain for themselves- to feel good about themselves. What makes a person think that high heels would make them happy? If it was not the idea of oneself conforming to a terrible stereotype of woman?
I'll tell you what else- real feminism should go beyond clothes. If this is your activism youre a waste of space and a not really a feminist at all. Nearly all of my teachers through out law school and k-12 dressed in sarees and bindis. Almost all of them were fiercely feminist and taught me how to be my own woman. The point of feminism is that we dont want to be judged on our clothes . Women are not less serious or capable because they wear indian clothes.
High time that students should write to the Chancellor on this threatening by the Registrar.
The Registrar's appointment is itself questionable as it doesn't follows UGC Guidelines.
Time for the us to unite and raise our voice.
Is there any chance that CAM, SAM, KCO, and the like follow suit? Else it is a huge disappointment for all the A0s that opted for other firms during day 0.
The gist is that the Chief Proctor, Prof Sridhar Dabiru Patnaik, has suspended students for distributing a leftist magazine attacking Modi. It's obvious that this de facto ban has been carried out in the context of the 2024 elections. There is talk that elite law schools like NLUs and Jindal may become flashpoints in 2024. The is just a small preview of what's to come.

any opinion will be of great help to me as a first-year student of law. :)
With the new salary hikes announced by Trilegal today, it has yet again become the best paymaster! Whether other firms will follow suit?
Fixed pay 16.5 + bonus 3L.
There is guaranteed 100 percent bonus for A0s. Makes trilegal the highest paymaster in Tier 1 firms by far.
Where certain reps of our College RCC based on propped up placement figures of 2023 batch, had gone on to proclaim that at the end of the 2024 recruitment drive, there will be leftover jobs; they have recently released a live G-Spreadsheet Form containing data which shows that apart from a T-2 firm which has already concluded its drive, only 3 more companies may participate in the recruitment drive this semester. Moreover, apart from paltry emails indicating interest in participation in the recruitment drive in the next semester, there are LITERALLY no firms or inhouse participating in the recruitment drive.
However, this may have had little to no impact on the College RCC which continues to operate in denial, high-handedness, shrouded in petty politics and without compunction.
So yeah, gloomy is as gloomy gets.

the scenes would have been far far worse had we come after nls, nalsar and nujs
The managing partner seems to stuff his own coffers at the expense of everyone elseโs bonuses.
Especially considering the juniors have been promised that their bonuses will be credited into their account for the past 3 months.
I appreciate Javed Akhtar for being an independent liberal. I am however concerned with the interviewer's inherent bias/ tilt against the present dispensation and faith - which he makes obscenely obvious in the phrasing of his questions to Akhthar. Whatever happened to him (Karan Thapar)? What happened to the man who dared to challenge the interviewee with intelligent questions (instead of calling friendly guests whose sentences he is found completing, like a propagandist)?
SAM
The RICC members and their affiliates are now discussing this thread on the batch group and are asking everyone to report the comments as it portrays them negatively.
โGuys, we all (as a batch) should report these comments put there. If all of us do, it will definitely be taken down.โ
What is this? Communist Party of China? You canโt suppress the truth. Mod please be aware of such false alarms. They ruined our placements and now they want to perpetuate this toxic culture by not letting anyone know about their misgiving.
It would have been easily anticipated looking at the PPOs the class of 2024 received and should have strategised accordingly. Looking at the hiring freeze and the overall recruitment climate it would have been a prudent move to schedule Day-Z post NLS and should have approached alternate firms.
Just look at this:

2. One night in the lock up and heavy fine?
3. Chop off their โฎโฎโฎ?
Suggestions?
There is a specific notification by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs allowing this - you can google it.
There is no continuing obligation of Indian citizenship for the Sanad or entitlement to practice in Indian courts. Neither in the act nor in the rules.
Further, if you are OCI (as well as PIO) then by virtue of a gazette notification (issued more than a decade back) you are equal to Indian citizen for the purposes of Advocates Act.
In your case the latter is likely to apply, assuming that you would be registered as an OCI.
So chill and apply for your US citizenship. The Indian lawyers using 'Qualified in India' are doing so legally.
Indus, S/CAM, KCO people please answer
