Isn't this a CTC figure, meaning 7 lakh goes to income tax (and eventually to the pockets of politicians) + 3 lakhs gets cut in various HR jugaadu deductions. So you actually get only 12 lakhs a year? 😢 And if you spend 60K a month on rent, then you have only 5 lakhs or so a year to spend on food + petrol + electricity + dining out + maid's salary + broadband + OTT subscriptions? Won't that leave you with just 2-3 lakhs in savings? 😭 Plus, what if there is peer pressure to buy fancy watches and phones to maintain your status? Won't that mean you save just a lakh a year? 🥺 Finally,
you may have to buy gifts for your girlfriend, which can mean anything from a simple box of chocolates (for Betty-type girls) to a fancy 50K holiday (for Veronica-type girls).
Thoughts?
dont have any law background to back me up ! will have to do everything on my own! just need a recommendation, hope i am not bothering to much
When an offer is made, these top rankholders will have multiple offers, and they'll undoubtedly go for a T1 firm, and these offers would be wasted. I can't decide if it is by design or sheer lack of perspective?
As a T2/T3 firm, of you intend to hire from a T1 NLU, at least try to go beyond the top rank holders and analyse the CV of others who might be equally deserving and more likely to accept instead of wasting offers. Or is it deliberate, where you actually have close to no vacancies and you're well aware that these will be rejected but you do this just to perhaps save face?
(inb4 ad hominem, I'm not a student and haven't been for several years)
I had a terrible CGPA, no mooting record, nor any published papers. I was from a good university though, which I suppose led the firms to open and scroll thorugh my resume.
By following my rule, I managed at least 6 to 7 internships on my own, including in top firms, and I think I got 2 internships from college. I managed to get a call back from the internships that I got from college.
In the hindsight, I should have worked on making my resume look a little more professional (just fancy-fying it), I think that would have helped me a little more.
While I graduated with terrible grades and nothing else to justify my time in college, but I managed to secure a job in a decent law firm by just sending 30/40 emails in one vacation to secure an intership for the next vacation. Remember: internships beget internships.
Critically, when you are interning, be super enthu and be open to learning. But also have fun - you can never have too much fun in your youth.
I honestly would want to work outside the country as well later in life so that is also something.
Means how to use unfair means more effectively? LOL.
STEM and economics like social sciences do have scope for deep research.
NUJS- 2
GLC- 2
HNLU- 2
GNLU -2
NLSIU- 1
IIT Kharagpur- 2
NLIU- 1
Mumbai University- 1
UPES- 1
NALSAR- 1
Amity- 1
SLSP- 1
Note- I couldn't find the alma mater of Dnyanraj Desai - Projects & Project Finance (Mumbai)
Inferences-
1. It is a pleasant surprise to see both the IPR Partners are from IIT Kharagpur. Goes on to show the value of niche selection by colleges.
2. HNLU arguably has the best alumni base among all Tier 2 NLUs by far.
3. No surprises at all with GNLU and NUJS who have been dominating corporate placements by absolute numbers for some time now.
4. Lack of NLS and NALSAR shows that their alumni no longer prefer domestic law firms, instead going abroad or in academia/policy/research.
5. The downward spiral of NLIU continues as it remains a shadow of its former glory. The overall Partner base is still the strongest.
6. NLUD has the worst alumni base amongst all Tier 1 NLUs. They still have a long way to go before calling themselves top three.
7. Good to see colleges like UPES, Amity, Mumbai University which proves that colleges don't matter in the long run! JGLS missing like always even though it is Partnership time for their initial batches. Makes you think.
LOL
Will other firms like SCAM, KCO, JSA, Indus, etc increase their pay bands? Or are they going to see mass exodus because Trilegal is on a hiring frenzy for quite some time now and better salary means more movement of associates.
The truth is that the public genuinely voted for Modi in 2019 and preferred him to Rahul or Mamata or Lalu or Akhilesh as PM. Left-liberals need to find a PM face who is honest, not a nepo kid dynast, has a track record of good leadership, and does not divide and appease vote banks on the basis of caste or religion. Someone like Naveen Patnaik would be a good choice, else an outsider like Narayana Murthy, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Raghuram Rajan, or an ex army general.

Trilegal - 19.5
Saraf - 18.5
Khaitan - on the verge to increase
Rumours are there that all the other firms might follow this.. will Luthra, Indus, Cam, Azb Sam do this?

The value of studying economics properly is not in just one CV point.
Fwiw, some of the stuff written by undergrads at nls is actually quite good. Most of it so far has been Doctrinal research but it’s nothing to sneer at.

2.Funds team is where the actual game is being placed, sorry to say don’t see much of a scope for you with transactions, however given you are from NALSAR, I assume you to be a hardworking chap so maybe some exceptional performances and a genuine referral can get you through.
3. Both my above answers would have given you an idea about the brand value you can derive.
Also on a parting note, all the best with getting the full promised bonus.
I understand it feels empty and impossible, been there done that, was with her for four and a half years, took shit from her, from my family, her family, fucked me up tbh - and she left me for another guy. Not that I blame her, bache thei dono, woh bhi boht toxic aur mai bhi, still it took me three years to move on from her, but when I did move on, I realised how much I missed out on and how I mistreated those who cared for me. Trust me on this, no one is worth a second though after they have left you, you'll only be wasting your time and emotions. Aage badh, chalta hai, hota rahega, rukneka nahi.
Baat rahi batchmates ki, agle saal se majority ki shakal bhi nahi dekhni, temporary insaanon ke liye permanent damage kahe karna baua, khudpe focus karo, aur koi Jawaab nahi hai. Motivation is a scam anyways, just ask yourself do you want to fuck your shit up and slow your life down for a couple of years or process the grief and hurt, move past it, and get on with your life. The answer is pretty simple in my book, is it in yours?
Go to a college where deserving people get jobs.
Am happy to be corrected if someone can provide concrete evidence to refute it.
I need a job urgently, I'm based in Delhi. I don't know where to look as Linkedin jobs are a bust and I am not getting replies to cold emails. Any sort of job, law firm, in-house etc would do as I really need one right now. What should I do?
Trilegal to poach your partner xD
What matters is the knowledge you demonstrate in your interview and your ability to be humble and learn. An student with good Tier 2 internships who has a good grasp of the basics can get hired over someone with just cursory Tier 1 experience .The value of marks depend on the quality of questions and the syllabus.
Again it's not your fault, the hype given to "toppers" during law school ensure most become complacent thinking academia will impress potential recruiters. This is a misconceived notion. Please introspect and all the best! )
Is the RICC actually going to put ▮▮▮ whenever they decide to come to the campus, with stuff like they postponed their day 0 because of them?
Do you all not know that the HRs also coordinate amongst themselves about placements? And if so, then please for the love of God, stop spreading lies and rumors.
Just please stop. It's sickening.
You have single handedly reduced our college to the level of a tier 2 college. Shame!
And this whole thing is a stunt. Everyone reads on the internet these days, no one reads hard copies of magazines. Your magazine is also available online. So why do you have to create a ruckus?
- One-child policy
- Stop all subsidies and spend on economic growth instead
- Tax rich farmers and spend on growth
- Stop reservation and create a free market in jobs

I am sure they would be so proud of themselves after ruining their very own day zero.
This will give us valuable insights into our individual productivity and accordingly we can introspect in our routine thus we can improve, regardless of our roles, whether you're a student, academician, independent practitioner, A0 till the partner.
2. How easy is it to lateral to bigger firms if I join their transactions team, say after 1 PQE?
3. Your general perceptions about the firm's brand value would also be very helpful.
Please don't spam hateful comments, I am looking for genuine advice here.
I am a Cap Markets A1 in a T1. How long do I have to get work experience before I can try for a transfer to foreign law firms? I have heard it is a bit easy for cap markets lawyers to transfer, is this true?
Good luck. :-)
Many associates and SAs from my LinkedIn feed are hopping the boat. Why such a sudden efflux?
