1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.

There is simply no merit in indus PPO. (source: Interned there 1m5 years back in corp team)
I think it's high time for a course correction. We need to reorient the syllabus towards the job market and placements. The college should divide the whole programme into 3-4 broad clusters (e.g. Financial Law, Tech Law, Litigation and Dispute Resolution) and offer a broad basket of courses under each cluster. We can form a set of industry partners for each cluster and invite them to give lectures. That way, students will be "industry ready", in B-school jargon.
It seems to me that we are suffering because of faculty politics. The influential lobby of human rights professors want to corner all the funding/resources and do not want to cede control to the commercial law professors.
I sincerely hope the JGLS faculty and admin read my comment.
Although I do laud his initiative for bringing the Supreme Court technologically up to speed.
I am in the third year of a tier 1 NLU, and am confirmed to intern next month in the CM team at IndusLaw. When can I expect a PPO? After doing callbacks till 4th year, 5th year?
Though I agree the brand value of college does matter, and NLUO doesn't have that good of a brand value, your hardwork and dedication will pay. Among the people who have been placed, everyone of them was hardworking. Some worked hard to get good batch ranks and then took interview at college placements, some worked hard during their internships and bagged the PPO.
If you think your college is the only thing that will land you a corp job, you're highly mistaken. The college has little to no role to play. And imagine the current market conditions in 2027 as well, where T-1 NLUs find it hard to place their pupils, you can't expect your college to place you. You are on your own. Work hard, play your cards right, you will be placed.
Back in 2019, when I too had to make a choice whether to settle with NLUO or give another shot to CLAT, I somehow settled with NLUO. Though I sometimes regret it, I don't think I have missed on anything which I could have done at a T-1 NLU.
At the end, it's your choice. But think wisely whether you want to waste a year. Cheers!
'cultured' code for will not do an Udham
'bro and sis in oxford' code for if you dont give admission has other options, also family is progressive and allows female education
you have to remember the letter was written in 1935
▮▮▮. We’re going to do justice by her by ensuring that this doesn’t get repeated ever because, you my friend, may not know, but I surely know for a fact that there may be many more like her contemplating such thoughts. It’s ironical that we act only after it’s too late.
The bad is that a lot of older professors are not in touch with the times when it comes to relevance of course material, and have a lackadaisical attitude. In class learning might be better in NLUJ but I don't think that's a given, or really super relevant if you're looking into corporates because most people learn things on their own, during internships. No point commenting on BSCLLB until that batch graduates.
Seriously, people thinking this is an uncommon thing, "nAmE oNe iNciDenT!" are either reaallly out of touch and probably need to reconsider a lot of things in life, or are just trolling. In either case, don't warrant the response of a serious discussion.
Why are you practicing law then, my friend, why not take a loan and run an oil refinery? The returns are crazy.
Take a look:https://www.barandbench.com/news/harminder-chawla-assumes-the-role-of-managing-partner-at-luthra-and-luthra-law-offices-india
For Atlas to get its 27 lawyer firm to join L&L is no small task. The democratization has started again after burning fingers with Mohit Saraf.
Don’t want to identify my batch, but you know what we did back in the day, how we went about it and uska anjaam kya tha. It'll be callous of me to pass judgment here on what you guys should do but yaha ek dusre pe keechad uthane ka koi fayda nahi hai. We lost one of our own, please be there for each other and come together as a student community (however you think appropriate) instead of publicly fighting like this.
To her friends, loved ones and anyone who needs to see this,
I know you must be grieving. She was a brilliant brilliant girl. Wont pretend to know what was going on in her mind, but I know what those five years are like. You are never alone, please reach out to someone if you are feeling lonely. I promise you that life after is easy and breezy.
To R,
Request you to either lock this thread or put in a trigger warning. Thank you.
@R: Any way that thread can be made sticky?
1. The campus may be small, but it is right in the middle of the city with all the amenities that a metro city can provide, at relatively low cost that is the hallmark of Kolkata.
2. You probably belong to the first batch of a new law school and hence cannot see any senior. NUJS on the other hand has caring seniors from all years, a student and faculty mentorship system, alumni who regularly help students through talks, credit courses, internship assistance and at the time of placement.
3. All the resources that are necessary to study law and become great at it are available. If you are seeking AC living rooms or swimming pools, then you can live in some of the 5-star hotels that are nearby, instead of the hostel.
4. You display all the indicators of a bully and ragger yourself. At NUJS, none of that takes place. If you don't wish to do something, no senior can ever force you to do it. There is zero tolerance for ragging and alumni faculty who regularly encourage students to come to them for any reason whatever.
If you are frustrated, seek professional help for yourself. Don't mislead others.
These things can be discussed at a later stage. Not at this time when everyone is grieving on the loss of a friend or a batchmate.
Literally disappointed at the act of these people.
I am thinking of learning about Mergers and Acquisition/ Due diligence processes. But I don't want to pay money for blah-blah courses on M&A etc. Is here any good book or free source on the internet where I can gain in-depth knowledge about the same?
P.S My reason for asking this question is that I want to work in tier-1 law firms in M&A team.
PS: The post may or may not be ironic.
Only NLS Bangalore is great for LLB 3 year program in Bengaluru.
Delhi University, BHU, GLC Mumbai etc are other good option.
Jindal Global Law School if you can afford the cost.
Kian will not do that for sure, given he receives funding from the PR managers of these big firms and VCs to hide threads and moderate some comments maliciously, who would not like a more efficient and transparent reporting system.
Look at Satya Nadella.
Look at Shantanu Narayen Haas MBA.
Or does it depend more on leadership and funding? Case in point JGLS?
These are mostly internal groups and you’ll have to know someone to get into the groups. All the best!
Be that as it may, here are a couple of things that I wanted to share.

A few cons of using Semaglutide-
1. very expensive injections unless you are using some underground lab
2. Makes you prone to diabetes in long term
3. Fucks up your Hormonal profile esp T-levels
4. You will most likely gain weight back after you stop using it.
Has he visited other NLUs as often?
2. Focus on delivering quality work
3. Keep things simple and deliver as instructed
4. Keep your mentor in the loop about your work and desire to join the firm
5. Don't stress out too much, a lot depends on the HR, vacancies, etc
Such appointments (including that of elevation as Justiceship from Bar) are handed out solely on basis of connections to "legacy chambers". Hence appointment is not a big surprise.
Nevertheless, Kanu also cracked AOR. His competency is unquestionable. I just wanted to highlight how appointments work in Litigation circle.
Wish him good luck in future also.
I am practising under a civil lawyer in district court. I am completed my L.LB (3 years) from evening college and college did not have any events, or internship cells.
I am graduate from batch of 2020. I have been working since then.
I m frustrated with low/no pay under a litigating senior and also in litigation in general. Cases are pending for really long time. Our judiciary is also not very well read and brilliant.
Hence, for financial reasons and to save my soul (and life) I want to jump into Gen Corp and M&A.
Could you kindly take sometime to guide & write down a plan to scale our careers in your field for candidates/professionals like me and similary situated in life? Do cold messaging on linkedin works? I have had no success. Could you write out an actionable plan please? Is there a way to contact you and speak for few minutes?
Best wishes,
user-01
I was nearly bald and have completed 6 months on these meds. It been very good progress but what you have right now you can at least maintain that and maybe a good recovery too. Recovery is rare. I was norwood 5(fyi)
2. Do these for at least 1-2 years, its slow process but it is worth it, i meantime save for transplant and after 2 years see if you need transplant or some minor touchup.
3. Start early the biggest regret i have is i didnt start early i waited 7-8 years. I Had such a good hair, i looked so well i used to get so many dates and hookups then, didnt have to remember guys name even and after sometime used to forget what they lookedlike. But this baldness trumped all that. I am better now, still a shadow of my earlier self but still far better. I am doing good too as guys have again started flirting with me. But i tend not to go for good looking dudes now i have realized what i want in my partner(looks will be secondary now). You can accept yourself too, i mean there's no harm in accepting baldness, bald dudes are insanely hot. You will be much more confident than guys balding as it is a lifelong fight there's no cure for baldness only you can delay by 10-15-20 years.
4. Joint r/tressless, was lurker here and this community finally gave me courage to try fin. Remeber only 2percent people get sides. You will have to take meds as long as you want your hair.
If you accept your baldness there is r/bald community it is really positive community. And also follow baldcafe on youtube.
What are their plans? No merger control happening - their PR team is actually useless - learn from AZB on how to report deals . But laurels sung in favour during the townfall. Put your humans first!
So the way they structure the 4 rounds is that - they don’t just pit you against your own classmates, they also pit you against students from other colleges by holding GDs together for people from different colleges.
The rounds went on for over 3-4 months. After every round, the number of applicants would be reduced by Bharucha. After a gruelling 4 round interview, only 2 people from my college were left who had cleared all rounds. Bharucha finally offered them a job, but by that time they had found a job elsewhere in better paying firms.
The way I see it - their 4 round interview really helps them find the best candidates, but then the question becomes - can they afford the best ?
Bharucha HR won, but at what cost?
I hope this email finds you well, although as a student of Batch 2023 I understand that the circumstances you are facing are anything but favorable. I am writing to express my deep concern and distress regarding the recent tragedy involving the loss of a student's life in Batch 2024. It is with a heavy heart that I address this matter, seeking both clarity and assurance that the school is taking all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future. This email is not the collective opinion of Batch 2023 hence would urge my batchmates to echo this (if they deem fit).
The news of the student's suicide has left our entire community in shock and sorrow. However, I was personally of the opinion that this not is an accurate hour to politicise the matter but some or the other way the address of the very "Hon'ble" Vice Chancellor reflects his insensitivity and that of the administration. The concoction of theories of suicide by stating that she was not under depression due to her academic and financial record is purely astonishing. At the time instead of taking accountability and mourn the loss the VC had the audacity to boast about the reputation of the university in his tenure and facts about inviting CJI for convocation at this sad hour and how the university has risen to prominence, demands criticism. This is not expected from the Vice Chancellor of a so-called "premiere" university. As a student I am ashamed to be a part of this institution and have no desire to attend the "convocation" that comes at the cost of garnering support and sympathy at these sensitive times.
I dont know as to what triggered the deceased to take such a harsh step but I myself had felt suicidal and distressed at some point in that place due to the turn of events that happened with me and our batch including multiple hostel suspensions. The Dean of student welfare who was crying so heavily yesterday didn't for a second realise that the same incident could have happened with anyone owing to the regressive steps of the administration that stranded their own students at the mercy of their fate. The person who threatened to ruin the career of students was awarded the post of ▮▮▮. The ▮▮▮ wardens had the audacity to question the choices of girls at the hostel by making shameless comments during our time. Not to forget the comment about hallucinating when a girl saw a naked man in the balcony of the girls hostel. The administration has always tried to suppress the matters that were concerned in favour of students starting from events and other cultural activities that eases pressure in that remote place thereby improving the mental health of students.
I would not hesitate in saying that a substantial role of attribution in destroying the mental health of students by denigrating them at all levels. Problems of students were not heard at all. Policy of arbitrary in-timings. The voices of students were muzzled at every point by threatening them. The ▮▮▮ of ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮- ▮▮▮ in our final semester brazenly boasted his authority of how influentially sound he is in the university, that he can destroy the career of students from our batch and mocking a student in front of the entire class for not depositing fees (even when the same was done).
The Vice Chancellor didn't feel the need to bid our batch a healthy farewell or capture a group photograph but in turn our batch was fortunate enough to be rewarded with another insensitive email on our final day at university. The arbitrary fines levied, proctor notices and depriving toppers of their medals are some incidents that you should introspect. Let me take this opportunity by saying that it was not us the students but the present HNLU administration that has "desecrated" the place for which "shame" is a much more positive word. The present incident could have also happened in our batch given the heights of insensitivity, intolerance and bias of administration by stooping to such low levels.
I am writing this with very pain and anguish given the recent loss of a person whom I know personally. With this communication my intent is to not play the blame game on you but I wanted to remind you that as a reputed academician and administrators of an institution the accountability and responsibility on you ought to be fixed. Please note that there is an absence of a conducive environment among stakeholders.
I have no hesitation in recognising the substantial work done by the Vice Chancellor for the betterment of the university but frankly saying that an institution that does not work for creating a better environment for students (the most significant stakeholder) other than academics is a failed institute and wont reap any results in future.
As an alumni I request the administration with folded hands to not denigrate students any further. This incident is a black hole in the history of the university. Please act responsibly as you should, and for god's sake don't suppress this matter as you have done earlier.
Please act responsibly. May the Departed Soul Rest in peace!
PS: The dictatorial nature of administration has forced me to mark my grievance from a parody account.
Regards-
Concerned alum from Batch 18
All five of you very well know how the administration has treated students in the past—both recent and far. I needn’t remind you the case of one of your own batchmates who has been recently kicked out of the university. So SPEAK OUT before it’s too late.
I request you with folded hands. PLEASE. THIS NEEDS TO COME OUT!
As for the celebs using it, I don't see any problem. The medical consensus is that ozy is safe to use as long as the correct dosage is administered to patient and the dose is administered correctly, which is solved by having an injection system similar to epipens (epinephrine autoinjection)
Don't know whether it will pick up in india as market is not keen towards disposable autoinjectors. Here is where Novo nordisk and and Pfizer's current trials to make semaglutide orally administerable comes into play. Pfizer will be the first to launch a high cost oral variant in India.
If any law firm employee is using the drug, I hope they have consulted with their physician.
I agree that it is possible to replicate, but LLM training is easier said then done, if these guys capitalize on their first mover advantage and train it further using user data and keep subscription fees low, they can capture the market.
