We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I read this and was truly inspired of how good of a visionary he was. Anybody utilised his product?
(To whosoever started this thread) While great lawyers come from everywhere and there shouldn't be a caste system amongst law school, such comments aren't a good reflection on ILS.
Best Placements - NUJS
Best Litigation/UPSC/Judiciary scene - NLUD
Best Campus - NALSAR
1956 nahi hai yeh sir. Bang average college now.
Secondly, for which is your internship assuming you're batch of 2024 or 2025?

In the US, law is a PG subject, so only possible after 4 years of UG
Your goals matter a lot in choosing the place where you want to study UG law, do you want to settle there? do you want to come back to India? do you want to be a solicitor or a barrister? how much can you spend? etc.
However i agree with jitni abadi utna haq, as long as it translates into separate electorate for everyone. Aakhir every community need to elect their own leaders. Thats where it will lead to eventually, so always trade with caution. There will be hard rigid group identity, in antithesis to modern democracy, at whose core lies individualism.
Hard structured identity will be a stepping stone for another partition like tragedy or blood violence which this nation has evern seen. But i am looking forward to it. Upper caste's future doesnt lie in coexistence.
lala and non lala
That's the least amount of fixing.
This profession is far from noble.
Else, Lage raho munna bhai.... Sweat shops
University of Humboldt is nice as well
Also what about Germany?
NLS/NALSAR/NUJS were, are and always be invincible. Even NLIU and NLUJ are better options than NLUD currently. In terms of placements, all 5 of them definitely beat NLUD single-handedly. And now we have got other reasons to not place NLUD above these five.
Delhi was already not a safe city. Parents also now do not prefer sending their kids in a gas chamber. NLUD can only be a place for rich kids of Delhi and neighbouring areas who are oblivious to suffering of large population of the northern belt.
While having an internship from a Tier1/2 firm does help, what matters at the end of the day is how well you can explain what you researched during the internship. People take interns, who are clear about the points of law and their research interests, from Tier 3 firms more seriously than an intern from Tier 1 firm who is unable to explain what they did during their internship.
The buck should stop with raj- but theyre too busy making money off the students. So instead we have the inmates running the asylum here. Shameful state of affairs.
Thats a vast enough difference that something iffy has gone on for sure. either the former grader or the latter has not done their job. Why do you think it was related to your politics?
commodity bana dia bechari ko!
we will get to know before the winter session of parl if FM goes back to AMU
What do you think?
You are doing this to gain some short-term trade-off, but your core is revolting
I will advise you that you take some time to introspect and find what you really want to do instead of blaming an entire industry as toxic etc
There are people who will thrive in the same environment, let them
Don't put the responsibility on outside factors, it is your responsbility to discover what suits your own constitution
You look at yourself and introspect about what is the environment where you will thrive and find that
Then act with conviction
I wish you all the best :)
Take a bow Shishir. The trolls will find something to snipe at you with, but I hope you write on. So proud that a practicing lawyer wrote it.

Please join hands if you're into the same.
Please, in good faith. Do not turn this into a comparison or toxic thing.
asking as a fresh law graduate contemplating options (mba out of india vs moving out of India in law)
I am nearing 30, and the songs that I used to loathe as a kid, I vibe to them now.
Further, "Better" is subjective. Take for instance Donald Bradman today. A mediocre pacer from a non test cricketing nation today would have given an extremely tough time to him, but he is considered the GOAT because of what he did and when.
Beatles/Rolling Stones revolutionised pop music. Celebrity worship became a thing. Their songs were the call for rebellion for an entire generation (mostly for US & UK), and they became exceptionally famous.
But their kind of music just starting falling into obscurity as newer, more catchier music took hold. Its natural.
They were timeless classics, and tbh some artists like Weeknd will end up becoming timeless classics from this era.
I have been working as a corporate lawyer for 2 years, and of late, i really feel like i'm burnt out. simple tasks take me ages to do. getting out of bed is actually the most difficult part of my day. i feel so detached from the work i've been doing. i feel like i've just been on autopilot watching this year go by. it doesn't help that my team is especially toxic and the distribution of juniors and seniors is just a mess. partner is a controlling micromanager, and i've tried to speak to them about the way things have been going and how i've been feeling, but my words fell upon deaf ears (as i had expected).
Is there anyone here who has any tips, any words of wisdom?
Maybe convince some other Law Firm to let you WFH (I have seen this happen).
Did 4 Tier 1 internships and 2-3 Boutique/ Tier 2 internships across Capital Markets/ General Corporate and B&F but did not get a PPO despite multiple callbacks.
What should be my course from here? Try to do assessments for T2? In such case what could be the better names I should aim in eithe rDelhi or Mumbai which would offer best scope for PPO in any of these above areas of law. After this how should I appear for direct interview for post of A0 or in house, are these direct interview only contact based or is there a correct way like cold emailing partner? Please help
NALSAR's concerns:
a) Infra and funding still superior to most NLUs, but some of the infra is now ageing and more funds are needed to improve hostels and other facilities. Also need for better faculty, especially NLU alumni.
b) An 80% Telangana quota in NALSAR was mooted by the Congress during the previous election. KCR has not implemented any such policy, but as 2024 approaches could that be implemented for votes? Or is NALSAR just too prestigious and famous to be fiddled around with?
Madhya Pradesh (NLIU): Tight fight between BJP and Congress. Whoever wins, there could be a new CM (Kamal Nath for Congress, Scindia for BJP).
a) NLIU has traditionally been apolitical, but a major campus fight erupted last month, during a pro-BJP seminar allegedly involving hate propaganda. Will the return of a BJP government mean more of this? Conversely, will a Congress government put a stop to it?
b) The decline of NLIU in recent years has ben quite sad. Fall in NIRF rankings, fall in prestige and CLAT preference etc. DNLU Jabalpur is also eating away funds that could have gone to NLIU. Will a new government give more funding?
c) Weak faculty, falling infra.
Rajasthan (NLUJ): History of rotating governments and infighting in Congress may give BJP the edge.
NLUJ's concerns:
a) More funding and better faculty needed.
b) Return of BJP may mean culture wars like NLIU
Chhattisgarh (HNLU): Congress strong favourite to return.
a) Current government has done much for HNLU. More funding needed.
Everyone is a victim of the system at one level or another. While someone is dealing with anxiety of having tough bosses, others have the anxiety of losing their job altogether. Not trying to justify any of the sides but just trying to reconcile the fact that everyone is at different points in the same path.
Anyone who has seen either side of the life i.e. as a lawyer in Law Firm and as a CA in industry/mnc/law firm pls comparies the toxicity and WLB.
Do CAs in CA Firms have relaxed life with not so toxic principals?
