TNNLU's first batch passed in 2018 however, MNLU NAGPUR's first batch passed in 2021 only. Hence, TNNLU has a bigger alumni base. Though NLU Nagpur's graduates are also working/worked in/at Tier 1 and Tier 2 firms like SAM, AZB, Trilegal, Khaitan, JSA, Desai & Diwanji, Pathak & Associates, Bharucha etc. Further, NLU Nagpur's alumni have/are pursued/

Further, NLU Nagpur's graduates are also pursuing/ have pursued BCL/ LLM from Oxford, Cambridge, Queen Mary and Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.

An absolute horrendous view. How is 3 years of difference in the establishment year making the alumni base wider. Hardly makes any sense. You've got to give credit where it is due. The Government of Tamil Nadu as well as the Madras High court has been very proactive in developing the institute. No one's claiming it's a Harvard, but it's a decent enough institute to pursue your dreams. There are multiple online trolls hating on TNNLU, attacking domicile reservation and giving a false perception to the community. At the end of the day, the results what the university has been producing can't be altered. It is evident that TNNLU has surpassed some of its older competitors like DSNLU, NLU Assam and CNLU.

The student crowd and the facilities are comparable to NLU-O and NUALS. At the end of the day, it's just clear that TNNLU is a much better university than the MNLU's.

Lol, an institute to pursue your dreams? What a joke! People would benefit more from studying in their local law college, save the money and use it to upskill themselves. These lower rung NLUs are a joke and drain on society. TNNLU in particular is all of domicile and other reservation, so only a handful meritorious students can be found there at best.

The batch’24 topper still deserves some credit for his hard work. But his junior batches and their toppers aren’t that impressive. Decent but not brilliant. Especially after the batch of 26 the mediocrity really creeps through. And overall NUSRL didn’t benefit much from the new VC. Time for reflection.

To be honest, TNNLU is one of the NON-Toxic places to be in, nobody is biased and the system here is so strict that there is no place for biased scoring, all the committees (Big shout out to LAC, ADRC and MCC)are doing a pretty good job and everyone here gets a fair opportunity in all senses.

TNNLU will even further climb up the ladder -

1. Tamil Nadu is a wealthy industrial state with global reach - Chennai is an Industrial behemoth and it's companies do business across the world. Most students in TNNLU would easily get jobs in Chennai.

Tons of legal jobs in Chennai with relatively low competition. Jobs in Chennai doesn't have national competition which cities like Bangalore/Mumbai has because of the language barrier. More legal jobs will come in Chennai. Chennai has a lot of scope for expansion of its legal market.

2. Lack of quality law schools in Tamil Nadu - most of them are not good, colleges where students are not well versed in English. There is no Symbiosis, Jindal/Private likes. Saveetha and VIT can't match up to other private law schools in the country.

So if any corporation or law firm in Chennai wants to hire - they have only few options - TNNLU, Dr. Ambedkar and Sastra. Employers do have the NLU bias which again helps TNNLU.

3. Money, Government Support - Tamil Nadu government largesse. 150 crore? No big deal for Tamil Nadu government.

4. Very humble students - I have colleagues from TNNLU. Especially tamilians they are very friendly, progressive and hardworking. Never came across arrogant or flashy kids. I would happily hire from TNNLU/DSNLU than Jindal or Top NLU where I have to tolerate arrogant behavior.

I have personally seen TNNLU kids, won't say they are the best when it comes to talking or even presentation, but their work is pretty neat. Also, they are indeed very humble. I think it has to do with the culture back there too.

I have seen kids from DSNLU too and it is fair to say that TNNLU students fare much better. DSNLU is also heavily ridden with reservations, but I have seen the pathetic batch quality and poor performance in internships barring a few kids. I remember some co-interns from DSNLU who actually left a bad impression because of their conduct, constant roaming around, failure to maintain courtroom decorum, poorly dressed etc. all this in a judicial internship lol.

TN genuinely does not have quality law schools at all. A city like Chennai has VIT (V new), Saveeta which is still fine and a few other colleges like Ambedkar, SOEL etc that barely make a mark (Used to have a lot of hooliganism, very little academic inclination etc. but it is better now).

There is this huge language problem that I noticed in TN, where a majority of these kids are not able to speak English fluently nor do they have the exposure.

TNNLU on the other hand may have a lot of reservations etc. but still has kids that actually cleared CLAT and do have decent exposure. I won't say they are pretty great when it comes to advocacy and even communication but their work submitted in internships is pretty decent and consistent.

What about SAI University? That's got some impressive faculty from what I could see. I was also told that Shiv Nadar will open a law university too at Chennai. A couple of my batchmates currently teaching at various NLUs have been approached for positions, with lucrative offers.

May fair well considering they do have funding and hiring capability. Law schools in TN lack good faculty and crowd in general. Law as a field is considered to be taken by the rowdy crowd and those not interested in pursuing sciences. Also, the competition at Madras HC is relatively lesser when it comes to getting internships and jobs.
