After 5 years of unsuccessful attempts at govt jobs. I am finally switching careers. However I do not know whether I should opt for an MBA or Teaching. Pros of an MBA is money, but no passion. Pros of teaching is passion, but no money. I am having a hard time to decide what to do. I curse myself for taking up law, then I curse myself for going after government jobs, now for the 3rd time I don't want to curse myself. Lol. Any suggestions ? How tough is the entry point going to be especially with the huge gap and no employment history ?

You don't seem to be having either passion or money, so either of the two options will be an upgrade anyway.

How about giving the kid a proper solution than being a sarcastically arrogant nimbwit.

Since you have prepared for government exams, you will have good chances getting accepted in a teaching job. MBA mai, you will need a lot of investments and the market is already bad. There is no certainty that the money would be enormous even after MBA. My advice would be to take a teaching job anywhere. Even in coaching centres. Passionately pursue this space. After some time, explore passive income avenues. Life sorted.

Right now, looking at the scenario of the fees of the top 30 b-schools of the country, it seems that the total cost to complete an MBA would be upwards of 30 lacs. Repayment of this amount would take on average 7-8 years, which adds another 8-10 lacs as interest payment. So it's about 40 lacs of cost. Given your profile of yours, you can expect an average package of 10-12 LPA as CTC. So, in-hand would be 45-60kpm, out of which 25-35k would go in email and you will be left with about 25k or so, which is not a great sum given the high cost of living in the cities nowadays. So, make sure you make a good decision. Also, a corporate job after an MBA is as hectic as any Corporate Law or Litigation Practice under a senior is.

Teaching is low money, not no money. UGC salary for Asst Prof is 1L approx. Go for it if you have passion, we need more passionate teachers.

Starts with 85k gross per month, with around 3.5k increment annually till your 14th year when you make associate. Before that, you will get one extra increment after your 5th and 10th years respectively. After making associate, you will get around 2.3 lakh gross per month. Then again 3.5-4k increment annually. After your 16th year, you will make professor, and your pay will become around 2.8 lakh gross per month, followed by around 4.5k annual increment. After your 26th year, you will get your last promotion, become Senior Professor and get around 3.75 lakh per month with 5k annual increment for the rest of your working life.

Forgot to mention, you can skip the queue in the promotion route by one year for your first promotion due after 5 years. You can get it after 4 years if you have got a PhD by then. Similarly, you may apply for any open Associate Professor position after 8 years and Professor position after 10. The earlier post about 13 and 16 years was about the promotional route.
