We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

It is important for me to get noticed by the partners and principal associates for a callback/assesment.
How often should I ask if they need any help? Is it okay to approach the partner?
Metro - 2K
Laundry - 2K
Netflix - 500
Spend rest on food & groceries.
Donโt drink or smoke.
Work hard this year, youโll hopefully get a raise next year. It will only get better from here. But if you quit now, it will get worse from here.
Also a girl looking at you for 5 seconds doesn't mean "hitting on", although I doubt even that happens.
According to this, AM Singhvi had assets worth 650 Crores in 2017. I'm pretty sure both him and Harish Salve would be crossing 1000 Crore mark now. So yes, Indian lawyers do earn thousands of crores, but only the top 0.01%.
Drama queen much?
Think these โintellectualsโ should play the part by conducting themselves in a manner thatโs neutral and above board, and await the outcome of an investigation and trial.
Think we as lawyers should also raise our bar for what defines an intellectual - to the extent of knocking off those who are more than eager to influence public opinion before due process even does its part.
Karke dekh lo.
Aatma ko satisfaction mil jaayega
GPA matters a lot these days. Not absolutely essential, but would solve 90% of your problems.
I appreciate your courage and plans. But I doubt if you can get a corporate law firm job.
However, if litigation is your target then no one can stop you from litigating. But again, if you are considering litigation then make sure that you wont be earning much for first 5-7 years as a litigating lawyer. Consider financial liabilities (Partner, parents , rent , household expenses, kids) at home before jumping to litigation.
I would love to talk more.
Litigating Lawyer,
seriouspen@mail.com
Litigating lawyers ka soch.
We are battling anxiety, stress and exhaustion every freaking day dude. Neend nai aati raat ko.
Therapy bhi costly hai.
Khush reh le thoda bhai. Sab sahi hai.
Email, LI kahi toh college ko baksh do. Pure samaj mei beijjati karwa rkhi hai.
Makes me realize that it is not only Indian Procedural laws that are fucked up . Even other systems are as that bad. In times of email and internet, we are still chasing judgment-debtors, accused and opposite party.
Comments?
I would like to know whether it's worth it to join law school at the age of 32? I come from a science background, have decent academics, and most of my work lies in the impact sector.
I am looking for a career change. And aiming at NLSIU and CLC, Delhi for a three year law degree.
Honest comments/ suggestions please.
I go by the simple rule that on-road-cost of vehicle should be between 20 to 50% of yearly gross salary.
How much are you making? and are you a senior PA?
Can you drop an anonymous email id? I really seek to connect with you and have a quick discussion regarding B&F.
The 3-10 cr packages are doled out for the ones who are always available for their client and its needs 24/7.
No job for non nlus
Bad system
Discrimination from nlus
Very sad
For law hypotheticals:
1. Issues raised
2. Applicable Law and Relevant caselaws
3. Conclusion and judgement
For BA:
No structure. Write whatever you know and try to stretch it into a story. Or is there a structure?
How much does the GPA matter in placements? An average student, with rank in the middle of his batch from a T1 NLU can get placement?
There also has been a rumor, that NLUD did host competitions but made its own students the winners lol. I don't mean to make fun of anyone, just asking if this did happen, or if it is just a rumor.
Don't know what sort of copium NLUD students are on. It was established in 2009. Hard for it to have a strong alumni base.
How do someone from litigation get into these top firms (GCA / B&F / CM ) ?

There are people who have law degree and are billionaires (dollar)
Also By billionaire do you mean a billion dollar or a billion rupee?
Because if it's a billion rupee then by the end of their careers most senior advocates have that much.
Plus a lot of lawyers are politicians and fixers and they have a huge corpus.
And being a partner of a law firm is not a pre requisite to becoming a GC - just look around at hundreds of examples.
Also there are so many companies in India and the article mentions several sectors which are willing to pay these figures.
Not all companies have stock options as part of CTC. And even those who do, most will IPO. See the millionaires Paytm, Zomato, Nykaa, Mamaearth have made.
I have a lot of reasons to be optimistic for lawyers in India over the next 40-50 years.
