Slow today for some reason, probably because I am, like everyone else, in the library. Midsems in less than a week.
A3 looking to pivot
Besides, except for a few law firms, all chamber practioners experience this constant flux. Just get used to it. You can pay them 1L and ain't going to cut it with these gen z kids.
For the work they churn out and their ethics, they ain't worth a dime. They can't draft caveats, applications. Go on and on about constitution and corporate laws. Well, they can suck on that knowledge.
What matters is your college and batch rank, period. Be from a top college in the 20s or from a GLC in top 3, and you're in. Nobody has time to check for one month "internships" at other firms where the only work done is basic research and shit. Moots and other stuff, nobody absolutely gives a freaking damn, just be good in academics. Experience works when you start working as an associate, where your academics start mattering lesser and lesser, when your PQE takes over.
Pay wise, it is definitely a tier 3 firm.
While the HR does follow up based on you actually reminding them every week. The team rarely cares and takes their sweet time. This could take months but not in a week for sure. The partner approving it takes the most time cuz they are busy for their client work and hardly even look at the millions of CVs that probably make it
Also, to lawyers who have transitioned from India to UK, does having SQE help? Almost all of the India qualified lawyers who have settled abroad seem to have been associates at the traditional T1 law firms before they shifted borders. Does the legacy of the T1 firms play a big role (decisive factor) in such lateral shifts?
P.S. - A1 at a no name firm.
They will find someone who will pay them 1.2 lakhs 6 months later and switch :)
Even tier 2 law firms can't retain talent - Tier 1 poaches them
This is the reality for competent people
Incompetent people - their reality is different
We can have the discussion thereafter
Self-made, is first gen himself.
Lol re depo kids - like I said briefed him and had one of them assisting him on most of my matters - this junior/nepo kid was brilliant with his research and sent compilations at 3/4am.
Don't think you can fault RR for hiring - his choice who he takes but I am sure all of them are hard workers.
12-15 Tier 1 internships
publications in HLJ, Oxford, Yale, Indcorplaw, Berkley law review etc
Top 3 of the batch rn all 5 years
recommendations from VC, Tier - partners, Senior Advocates and Modjii
CEO Dad
Judge Uncle
blah blah blah
UP has even fewer law firm work than WB, even with its 60 years of decline. Gujarat, sure - GIFT City is all the rage, but genuine question again: how big is the GIFT City uptake from foreign companies, compared to other SEZs?
Where do scientists get money to do their research if not these big companies ? Who pays people to make movies and books if they cannot sell tickets and copies ?
Itβs one thing to argue that scientific literature and culture should be accessible to all - another to argue no one should have rights over things they make. Get a library card.
Fair, NLUO is doing good with placements. Batches post 2017 especially post 22 are in good places, good chunk of placement.
WE GET IT!
I've been in firms for 4 years now and it generally accepted that especially for placements, NLUO is the best t2 NLU, better numbers than RML, HNLU, RG and better reputation in firms. But why is the PR still going? Why is each batch of NLUO just making placards of their placement and flowing it around. Please stop the agenda, we get it.
So, go out and work for yourselves.
Worry about yourself troll.
(It's a genuine question, plz don't spread hate)
Try to apply for both if you get the opportunity!
Also the fact that monetary support is still very less in NLUs hence a lot of students prefer research papers.
job tags are as good as dogs' names
My internship committee is incompetent and I'm a first gen so I've absolutely zero clue regarding this. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.
(As per the recently sent engagement letter)
We still don't know how the journal is securing such internships for the students.
Morally, I don't think so.
As it is that the students from private colleges are at a disadvantage of securing corporate internships and if someone's money or contacts can level the playing field between a student between a Student from NLU and a private College then they should use it.
Jab ghee seedhi ungli se na nikle toh ungli tedhi kar leni chahiye!
Whether the students are deserving or not, it's on the firm to decide by way of callbacks and PPO, we are no one to say.
Now that my notice period is about to end, I just wanted to know as to how to go about drafting an experience letter/ what to include in it and how to frame it basically.
In addition to this, what other documents or details should I take from my current Firm?
Since this is my first time doing this, would appreciate any help or guidance regarding the same.
Looking forward to your responses at the earliest, since time is of the essence ( I guess)?
Thank you:)
PS- Please feature this @mods as I think this topic has not been covered earlier and will help many people who plan to switch/ leave their current workplace now that the new financial year has begun.

Free plane tickets for official visits(Idk about family but I think there also exists a thing where we can go to vacation with family where plane tickets will be provided by Government but again not sure about family visit but Surely you are not going to take vacation of more than 1 week and you are gonna think about cases in your court there also lol)
No transfers like executive and you are the boss your own court and independent to take decisions.
You get many connections with eminent people like docs and all and you can help your family members in the city due to those connections be it hospital related or other. If you are honest and hardworking then you will be making more connections in Higher courts or can work in HC.
But these benefits come with a lot of hard work as you come from court and then read files and cases then again go to court next day and do it all day. You are sometimes so immersed in court files that you forget you also have personal work so its not easy to be a judge( you can be lazy guy who just write sht judgements but you are gonna get your repute down. Judges like these exists tbh)
NOTE- these benefits may also depends on the ranks of judges but I think these are mostly applicable to all judges
