The ultimate truth is that the Adanis and Shroffs in this firm think that they own the asses of those who work for the firm and they forget that outside this institution nobody gives a rat's ass about them and that competition is mushrooming everywhere in Ahmedabad and they need to buck up their game or people will keep walking out.

Has anyone of you here have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)? Please share how you function in what you do. Be it a lawfirm, inhouse, or something which is completely non-law. What kind of systems have you placed so your functioning can fit well in organizations you've worked with? Do use of ADHD meds help you in focussing on law firm work which is often mundane? How do you deal with memory and brain fog? If not purusing law, what have you been doing in your life to make money / which sparks your interests? Do you get anxious because of the amount of work you get in your work and ADHD just worsens it?
Above are just the talking points which you may take a lead with. ADHD is so less talked about in this community despite it being one of the most common mental health issues. Lets talk ADHD among lawyers!
As a result, students are living in cramped conditions and have to rely on lockers kept in the corridors to store their belongings.
Unfortunately, these lockers are flimsy and prone to theft, as they can be easily broken with just one hack of a screwdriver.
I’m planning to create a tier list of Indian law colleges, and I’d like to gather your opinions on my initial draft. Once I’ve gathered feedback, I’ll refine the list and post it here.
S Tier: NLSIU, NLUD
A Tier: NALSAR, NUJS, NLIU
B Tier: JGLS, GNLU, NLUJ, MNLU-M
C Tier: SLS,HNLU, RMLNLU, RGNLU, GLC, CLC
D Tier: NLUAS, NLUO, MNLU-N&A,CNLU, LC-I, ILS, IIM Rohtak’s IPL
E Tier : Every other undergraduate admitting all college in the country.
Questions:
1) Should JGLS be in the A tier, considering the profile of their faculty and their amazing infrastructure (from the perspective of an NLS student)?
2) Is NLIU at the same level as NALSAR and NUJS, or should it be placed in the B tier?
3) Considering its decline in recent years, should ILS even be in the D tier now?
4) What’s your opinion about IIM Rohtak’s IPL? It's quite new, but I've still placed it in the D tier because of the overall brand reputation of IIMs.
Please do share your thoughts and opinions on these questions. Thank you!
His seniors and my super seniors are aware about it but turn a blind eye. I do not know what to do?????
Also in the mean time try and read up on whatever you're claiming to have worked upon. I have done the same and so far it has worked out fine.
After this, once i got a corporate internship then i worked as much as i could and tried to get actual content for my CV and then I just spread it out evenly throughout all my internships and reduced the lies (thus reducing risk of me getting caught in an interview). At this point almost all my lying is over, some minor stolen portion might still be there but now i have been able to get enough corporate internships to get genuine real content for my CV.
I wanted to ask MBs, if there are any here, what are the best capital markets teams you have come across? In terms of quality of work, and professionalism.
What teams have you seen, which don't appear haggard and overworked? What team would you recommend for a 3 PQE Cap Marks lawyer?
Also, other cap marks lawyers, please do chip in. My family is rich, I don't mind the pay, I want a good working environment which respects holidays and vacations. I can slog 25 hours in a day, but I can't tolerate infringement of my vacation time.
My boss made me cancel tickets for a vacation I had planned with my friends to Thailand ( I have changed country for privacy).
I am 3 PQE in a tier 2 law firm, capital markets practice. I had booked a trip with my friends to Thailand, for this weekend + 3 days to celebrate a couple of friends' birthdays and the third one's bachelors all in one shot. It was supposed to be an amazing group trip of amazingly close friends.
All my friends on this trip, barring one, work in T1 firms.
I was supposed to leave on Thursday Evening, this trip is pre planned, and my boss knew about it for the last couple of months. Boss even asked me to get them some souvenir for the office.
Today afternoon the Boss comes and tells me to cancel my trip as we have a filing on Wednesday, and they anticipate another kick off meeting on Thursday.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? HOW IS THIS FAIR? WILL IT ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS?
Students are not babies in diapers who need to be consoled. And even if they did need some "parental guidance" they are hardly at the stage of development where pure empathy would do the job. The job of a university professor is in part to teach that in the professional world- no one wants to be your mommy or daddy- they just want to do their work and get on with it.
17- 18 year olds are not 10 year olds. When a 10 year old tells you he messed up- you can be a little indulgent and treat him kindly and teach him right from wrong and give him a hug. When that same kid is messing up at 18- you know that something has gone wrong in the intervening 8 years. With a more developed brain, the young adult is supposed to be able to think carefully about short-term v long long-term interests, plan his time, and think about the consequences of his actions on other people. Excusing and indulging him then is telling him there are no consequences to his actions. the compassionate, good parent thing to do is to hold him accountable. It will make him a better adult.
You dont read and prepare for class- you will get less out of it than those who do. You cheat in examinations- you will face consequences, you half ass an assignment or a paper- you will get poor grades. Tell me why that is unfair? What exactly prevents any student from being able to do those things? Does that not teach students precisely the kind of professionalism that will be expected from them at work? does that not actually put students' long-term interests in learning the law well and to a high standard over the professors need to be immediately popular?
The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) has urged its member law firms to discourage the mass poaching of lawyers.I
n his letter, Bhasin said,
“SILF has a Code of Conduct which requires certain basic courtesies and consideration on the part of the law firms when permitting or encouraging Partners / Associates of other law firms to join them.”
He added that while it is open to any individual practicing lawyer to leave any law firm and join some other law firm, the former law firm should observe basic courtesy and inform the Managing Partners of the affected law firm regarding the movement of the lawyer in question.
Adv Lalit Bhasin
"What is more serious and damaging is the law firms themselves inducing lawyers of other law firms to join them," says Bhasin in his letter.
He has referred to some recent "disappointing" attempts of poaching, which are undisclosed in the letter.
“This mass poaching ought to be not only discouraged but also discontinued. Proper ethics ought to be observed and SILF should be a role model for good practices which are integrated into our noble profession.”
I absolutely hate the new update. It said all the old features were improved, but without assisted search, I have no use for the website anymore
Next: campaign finance reform, make it illegal for any company to donate funds to a political party. if they want money they can raise it through individual donations. Enforce strict limits on donations. keep this data public. Keep making sure people are looking at that data. Constant Vigilance.
I am 35 years of age and I wish to pursue LLB from NLSIU after appearing for NLSAT
Are there good placements after completion of the course?
What lies ahead ?
Is it prestigious for excellent career opportunities?
Kindly guide.
How to identify what is relevant and what is irrelevant from a host of documents provided for this?

Will the RW trolls use this to target the Left, as has been happening in the US? Or will only LW users be accepted as contributors, as they have a much better record on fake news and hate speech?
TLDR version of chatter about this on X:
Anti-reservationists: They lack merit.
Pro -reservationists: it's coz of the unemployment crisis coz of Modi's handling of economy + biased employers. This only strengthens the case for reservation in private companies.
NLUO:
NLUO beats HNLU in T1 Corp placements, in general firm placements. Average package and number of placements is far greater than HNLU.
I contacted several HRs and have even taken paid results from legal recruiters, everyone stated that firms have preferred candidates from NLUO over various other universities for campus placement and other roles.
HNLU has stronger alumni network and thus that helps them in placements but it in total for every 1 HNLU placement, NLUO would place twice.
NLUO has done better in International Moots in last 5 years. National moot data is too complicated to make any comments.
HNLU:
HNLU students have said to have chiller academics, the new system of NLUO has reduced exams but students state that they are fearful of the administration and nothing comes easy to them. Faculties that take pride in failing students is also a factor. The faculties try to catch students red handed then to become friendly.
NLUO has far reaching locational disadvantage, it has been saved by online meeting era else no firm was stepping to Cuttack. Cuttack stands no chance when it is made to stand against Raipur or even Naya Raipur. For a better life, Raipur offers better chances and places. Cuttack has been told to be small, conservative and people are not very friendly towards the liberalised campus o NLUO.
Take your call.
The pay/ stipend I get is SO bad, that I see absolutely nothing besides money at this moment.
Want to know what makes it even worse for me?
I have taken up close to 75%- 80% of the drafting, I am at office post court hours EVERYDAY, and I don't even complain about it. Why? Because I legit like working.
However shoddy pay has now gotten to me to the point that NOTHING but money can make any difference whatsoever to me now
Or is there any other suitable career options available to have secure career with good money?
Pls share your thoughts.
Did you really not look up the name properly?
> If this is the situation in the top IITs, then how bad are things in the lesser-known IITs in obscure locations? More contextually, how bad are things in the NLUs after students have spent significant amounts (direct costs, plus opportunity costs of taking gap years and education loans) keeping aside the irrational exuberance we see?
> Law schools (including the NLUs) have been raising their fees indiscriminately. In some private law schools, the total cost of 5-year LLB programs will now top ₹70 lacs by the time they graduate in 2029. NLS raised its fee by 25% in one go. Needless to mention, the salaries aren't galloping this way for some who get placed (most wouldn't be placed). At what point will the system break down?

Naturally, these people tend to have a lot of influence in the team & can call the shots on PPOs too — if that's the underlying concern here.
If he gets 200+, EB will come & DYC will bin it...
No respect for boundaries- work or otherwise
Placements is through PPO or college placements if you have batch rank. Neither of colleges can help you with this if you are not helping yourself.
College life in NLUO can be tough with VC, Registrar, Dean(Academics) and Controller of Exams finding different ways to mess up with you. These four offices are arbitrary and sadist, especially RPT, and arm twisting is common thing. You question anything, you will be arm twisted.
We just received an email yesterday that if you don't fill faculty feedback forms, you won't be allowed to sit for exams. When someone tried to question, Dean (Academics) responded that she can get that person's answer sheets and projects evaluated by experts in India and that the person will not pass the exam. Basically, she was hinting that she will fail the person.
This is common thing in NLUO. You raise your voice and you are usually dealt with like this.
It's not only non nlus that get internships through their journals, majority of them are from rmnlu and jindal too. This is not right as they're claiming a position of a deserving candidate of either non-nlu or nlu.
Firms should stop entertaining them.
Get a life!

While Principal Associates are a step below partners and can expect to be evaluated for partnership in due course, the term "counsel" is often ambiguous, when a firm isn't sure what it wants to do. Usually used for new hires, who the firm doesn't want to bet on by making a partner straightaway, but cannot make the person a PA, because the person wouldn't join. So it's more of a lolipop. If you join as counsel, whether or not you make Partner, depends on how your manager perceives your work.
This holds true for almost all law firms, except Trilegal, where Counsel is the term used for PAs elsewhere. Some firms also do not promote PAs to partner, but to a "partner designate", which is again like a "counsel" or (if you like prefer) an escrow. The "designate" bit is misleading, because there is not guarantee that you will be made partner.
If you are being offered a counsel position at a firm, I would suggest that you fight tooth and nail for joining as a partner. Don't go on future promises.
Pros - Independent, Freedom, Oppurtunities, Scopes, Money, customised lifestyles, own boss
Cons - Stressful life, no/limited time for personal or family, day to day unique challenges & competitions, unstable life & career, no reputation/power/status, no kind of security (exception there)
JUDGESSHIP :-
Pros - Stable life & career (pre & post retirement), get enough time to spend with family, reputation/power/status/respects, standard lifestyles (not luxurious), less stressful life, personal &financial security for life
Cons- No freedom/independent, not boss but only subordination pressures, forced to maintain privacy, career growth challenges, rarely have any opportunities, fixed earning & living standards, fear of office politics
Trilegal- good big practice with its own internal issues. Can try if your boat floats
SAM- Tech team is only on paper
CAM- Please avoid the CAM Arun Prabhu team at all costs, they always have a vacancy but are the epitome of derailing your life
AZB has a good mix of media and tech although their leadership is always questionable
Intention isnt to dishearten but to give information
If you are not one these guys, you probably don't have the same pull, so all you can do is compete on the monetary front. If you have non monetary perks such good mentorship, WLB, good work culture and ethics, the junior might be willing to give a little discount on retainer to continue working with you.
Is it because of habits developed in law school? Is it because of stress? Don't they know that smoking is bad for their health and those around them?
Smokers and Non-smokers of law firms please share your opinions
What I want from college - chill academics( easier grading system ), t1 corp placement and good college life
Please help and i hope to not get biased answers, thanks!
