This pregnant person language makes pregnancy seem like an Illness that could afflict anyone at random. It makes it seem like this is not about women at all. The fact that we don’t have as much research into pain during pregnancy or the fact that women have been dying on the birthing bed for
Millennia - because they’re women with female bodies who have never received adequate attention from the medical industry including doctors and scientists - all that gets erased. You’re just a pregnant person - as if it could have just as easily been possible for your partner with a penis to be pregnant.
You’re not a mother anymore - you’re a birthing parent - what are you after you’ve given birth ? You could be anyone really - just someone peripherally linked to the baby- just a parent like an uncle or aunt who might take their niece in. Not the woman who grew the baby in her womb for nine months and pushed the baby out risking her own life to do it. All of that is dirty womanly body things we don’t want to acknowledge. And acknowledging the reality of womens bodies also makes it very tough to argue that poor women should rent their wombs out to rich people. The womb is just a hotel room - a reproductive technology. It’s not a part of her body. And she’s not the mother - she’s just a surrogate- like an agent - she barely has anything to do with creating that new person
It’s all profoundly anti women this speech. When you’re calling men the “ejaculating parent” then you can say it isn’t. But no one would think of reducing men to their parts no ?
And for what ? For “non binary” NLOGs and “trans men” who have so rejected their own female bodies as to ▮▮▮ and compel the speech of others - but oddly enough giving birth to a baby - something that’s only been done by females with female bodies - that doesn’t trigger their dysphoria ?
Or for “trans girls” who think women are just some idea in their head - make up and dresses and wanting men- for whom acknowledging the material reality of womens bodies would cause envy and would expose the lies they build their lives on?
There was a time we didn’t hurt women to cater to mentally ill people or people who do not choose to live in material reality. What a shame.
Whatever else - history will remember DYC as a coward who repeated lies and bullied women and refused to acknowledge them as a sex class. The Cass review has already turned the tide in England and people are waking up to this gender mania- won’t be too long until word spreads.

The RW is mocking this video. Instead of paying attention to such trolls, I will strengthen what Rahul ji said using the example of CLAT. In fact, it would have been better for Rahul ji to use the CLAT as an example than the IIT-JEE.
Now, let's look at CLAT:
1. The paper tests your knowledge of English vocabulary and grammar
2. The paper tests your ability to solve logical puzzles
3. The paper tests your ability to solve maths problems
4. The paper tests your GK .
Re point 1, good knowledge of English vocabulary and grammar is not a prerequisite to success in the legal profession. The majority of litigation takes place in Hindi in the trial court. In the HC and SC, although proceedings take place in English, you need a simple vocabulary and grammar to make your point in 99% of the cases. Thus, a proper CLAT exam would test your knowledge of Hindi vocabulary and grammar. If this happens, Dalits will actually top, because they go to Hindi-medium schools while Upper Castes go to English-medium schools and are weak in Hindi. The present CLAT has an Upper Caste bias because it assumes students want to argue in fancy English in courts. Such elite students don't belong in NLUs. Such elite students can instead go to Jindal Law School and go to US or UK after that.
Re point 2, solving logical puzzles again has zero relevance for studying law. The majority of legal matters are simple matters where no logical problem solving is needed: bail applications, registration of marriage, registration of property etc. This section should be removed from CLAT. Dalits suffer in CLAT because in their schools they are not taught logical reasoning.
Re point 3, same thing: Algebra or Geometry have zero relevance in law and should be scrapped. If you want to test addition or division skills (which may sometimes be used in legal matters) it is still pointless because we use a calculator in real life. So Dalits suffer in CLAT because you ask useless maths questions.
Re GK, this is the most useless section. It is also filled with questions for elite class people. Why should a law student know the name of the President of France? The CLAT paper should instead ask students about customs in villages, or farming practices. These are more relevant. If you do this, then Dalits will top, because Upper Caste city boys do not know such things.
Hence, to reinforce Rahul ji's point, the concept of merit is flawed. If you remove English, maths, logical reasoning and elite GK from CLAT, and instead test Hindi and non-elite GK relevant to India, then Dalits will top CLAT and Upper Castes will fail.
1. Make sure you are on time and last to go;
2. Keep taking work which is assessable try to avoid hardcore clerical work, if you do get it finish it off ASAP so you can get quality work again.
3. Make a proper in-depth note of each work you do, not just a single line, this will help your associates in giving you feedback.
4. Always ask for feedback, for every work you do whenever you see that person free, ask for a feedback, and ask doubts when getting work (not ones you can google pls).
5. There are always a few people who will make your life miserable avoid them as much as possible.
6. Avoid taking work from the same person, try to take work from a partner at least once however small or stupid it is.
They'll remember you even if you make their life 1% easier.
- Birthing parent, instead of mother
- Partner, instead of husband or wife
- Sibling, instead of brother or sister

TIMES OF INDIA: Trouble began in the premier law university last week when two senior professors, Prof. G S Bajpai and Associate professor Dr Moin Mustazar were 'removed' by the executive council for allegedly awarding marks to three Ph D students without evaluating their answer sheets. The professors, however, alleged the action against them was taken in an arbitrary manner, without following the established principles of natural justice.

Trilegal also has some partners with really good work as well (Arjun Ghose and Kosturi Ghosh etc.) and KCO has a strong presence.
AZB Bangalore has had a lot of attrition at the partner level recently, but still decent with Srinath etc.
SAM has a growing presence in Bangalore with some really good corporate partners. But it’s a much smaller presence than what is listed above.
JSA and Indus also have decent and strong offices in Bangalore.
The above is purely listed based on work quality and not basis the toxicity and work hours.

Make sure the place you select has AC. Otherwise you will die of heat in the summer.
Firms like LKS say that there is no vacancy.
More than half of my senior batch is unemployed/pursuing masters or other careers. I am not even sure if opting for law (knowing full well that I am from a low-income background with no lawyers willing to help) was a good option.
Please suggest a way out of this victim mentality. I am wasting a lot of time pointing fingers, rather than interning and honing my skills.
And FYI, average package is calculated of only those people who got placement (which is a significantly lower percentage).
There are so many students who got misled by this report and made the unfortunate decision to join this college.
Can someone who interviewed be interested to share how it went?
All these threads make me wonders where pursuing DT will be wise move or not. I should perhaps start reading the ICAI final DT module
It’s not worth the effort and aggravation, certainly not when you’re 10 years (atleast) older than any of your “peers”.
and how is the office, work culture?

They have a system called "Factor System". Your monthly salary is not fixed.
The compensation that your contract says, a percentage portion of it is dependent on monthly recoveries. So suppose your salary is 1 lakh, you may only get 80,000 in a month and rest 20000 will depend on how much you were actually able to collect (credited with the firm) in that month out of your expected monthly collection. If you manage 100% only then you get that 20000 but if you dont, you never see that money.
Also they keep that target so high that barring 1 or 2 teams (cyclically) no one meets that collection.
So as a thumb rule, everyone has to discount their on-paper compensation by 20-50%. Yeah that variable percentage of 'factor' keeps increasing with increase in level. Though they dont charge factor system on first years, but its upto them to decide. Also its depressing when you burn the midnight oil to churn out deliverables (you will need to) and then you dont even get your full pay coz the client has not made the payment yet. Oh you may think that we should just charge advance billing. Guess what, seniors hate to do that coz clients are so old and that would be insulting to ask.
Therefore it is expected that apart from being a lawyer in a big firm, you have to be a collection agent. You are expected to call and remind clients to make payments. In the politest of manners, again and again. Every week you would have to allocate some hours for it. Time that could be spent on doing actual work.
And they only tell you all this on the date of joining, when you are too late to make any informed decision.
In my view, the factor system is the most nauseating thing that exists here and only here. I have not come to know of any other firm that does this. Firms usually keep the monthly compensation fixed and only year-end bonuses depend on actual collections (which makes total sense).
So look before you leap guys.
This should help https://www.legallyindia.com/convos/topic/166008-retainer-fee-vs-employment
I dont know how to answer the avoidable team question coz if you are in the main teams, they have most politics, but you get to learn by sheer quantity of work you are expected to bill. In the lesser billing teams, life is chiller but moving laterally becomes difficult coz no one in industry treats you as an experienced asset.
Oh btw, firings happen regularly. In higher billing team (if you can't keep up with pace) as well as in lower billing team (if they feel you are not doing anyting).
Didnt expect this much traction. I guess people do care about honest feedback.
Is it disbursed on the 1st day of joining?
PS: If anyone wants to know how/why I felt excluded, I'll say only this: try to imagine navigating the city, either on foot or by public transport, either on your own or in company, if (1) you were to be completely blind; and (2) you have Cynophobia (have dog/cat phobia) (hint, Bangalore has a street dog problem, whatever its other virtues, also think about street/public transport accessibility).

I used to stay alone, it was a non-negotiable, in my hometown I had my own room, and it was just my grandma and parents. So I took up living in an SRA, I didn't have any furniture, zilch. I used to have one thin mattress, no gas connection, no fridge, no other appliances, 2 plastic plates, 1 bucket. No almirah, Used to live out of 2 suitcases and a laundry bag. I used to hand wash my clothes and iron them. It was a fuck all living situation. I moved out soon to Delhi after 2 years of living that way. Rent was almost half of my pay.
The other major expenses included, taxis, alcohol and cigarettes and food. There were days I had spare change by the end of the month.
I then started obsessively tracking my expenses, it helped me bring in control a lot of my wasteful expenses like swiggy and faasos, taxis and so on. Eventually helped me to build a bit of saving as well. But at the cost of almost no going out with friends, no vacations, no splurging, no entertainment like OTT and so on.
You will mostly be focusing on due diligence and proof-reading. It helps to be thorough with the Companies Act, ICDR, LODR. You can also pull out and refer to DRHPs, RHPs, Prospectus online and that will help you understand how it works.
As a query to teams working specifically on cap markets - why is it that pagination takes so long? Is there a particular way of going about it that takes hours?
People are waiting on offer letters after confirmations. Help with news on this please.
Anyone who’s actively hiring, I know JSA is.
Can you please moderate this??!
The only difference between law and finance is which one do you prefer more, letters vs numbers. Rest almost all is same, work life balance, nepotism etc. If working hours are the only reason to shift then something like marketing makes more sense.
Not wanting to sound negative but realistically I don't think it is possible to shift. Those who have done it have got an MBA first or have done the CFA in law school and then joined finance. I don't understand if you have no knowledge about the field, what makes you think you can shift and thrive there?
