We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

"Only 1 percent of eunuchs are born so, while the rest either pretend to be hijras (eunuch) or have been forced to join the community by abduction and castration, reveals a study by the All-India Hijra Kalyan Sabha (AIHKS)."

Interestingly they haven't done this survey since then have they? why not I would wonder?
I am a Singapore based Indian lawyer..
For peeps at Allen and Overy - it will be more pay but hellish working hours. American firms are worse. Infact I felt US firms are as harsh or worse than most tier 1 shops in India. US firms have very high billing target (even as a fresher associate)
But the good thing is - a massive payhike. US firms pay the highest in the whole world. No European firm comes close to US firms when it comes to pay. US firms also work on the best deals.
But European firms do have far better work life balance. It's not as horrible as US ones. Maybe I am wrong - but a friend in NY told that CAM/AZB and US firms are equally horrible.
There is no Indian tier 1 like yelling or shouting in US firms. But you will pack bags sooner.
But most US deals are done in NY. It has to be seen how this synergy will workout.
According to this logic, if many women are sexually assaulted, we should assume that no woman can consent to sex.
The remaining factors are important but not necessarily considered when we label a firm as a T1 or a T2 or something.
To be clear- no uterus- no shedding of uterine lining- no bleeding- no weakening of body- no periods. Women are real.
I've never heard of anyone being called transphobic for exercising their autonomy over who they want to have sex with. So bizarre. These projections often are.
Please talk to me! I'm so sad that you won't. [also sarcasm since one has to label it]
Just to say I love all the assumptions here and am not surprised that you can't understand irony or sarcasm. I'll leave you to your fearful life, which is perhaps all some people will learn about feminism. Some of us will continue to believe that "no one of us can be free until everybody is free".
Where are all these hundreds and thousands of people? The only transpeople I read about involved in attacks are the ones attacked by people with the kind of prejudice and hatred that's all over this thread.
This is appalling! What's happening to this world!!!?
Mention firm and date
mods please please mark this as featured, there has been a LOT of discussion on corporate salaries lately but nothing solid on litigation yet, please help bump this one
PS: Suggestions regarding online materials related to allied laws like FEMA, Competition Law, Contract Law, IBC, etc is also welcome.
Please tell me whether they give stipend in virtual internship ? and how much?
Can no one from Tri Blr respond?
Don’t expect people to have the money at Day (-1) to buy laptop for official use.
Also, if office expects us to work on laptop, they should give us one.
Please contribute!
I am flexible about when I want to do an LLM, but preferably within the first three years of graduating, mainly because:
- It might be difficult for me to find a correct time for doing my LLM once I am deeper into my career, I would rather do it rn than not do it at all.
- My family (also lawyers) want me to do it within the first three years, mainly for reason #2.
Wrt regular mooting, I meant i have done four moots (all in one field i.e. competition) including ILNU, NLUJ, TNNLU etc. In those I have not one but I have qualified till quarters/octas/semis + best memo etc. I have decent publications with NLUs + an oxford blog, but I will try to improve upon it this year. I also debate so have 2-3 achievements there too.
There was a time when the majority of the work thought that lobotomies were a great thing to do to mentally I’ll people. We stopped doing lobotomies because they did trials and measured outcomes and the truth - the objective material horrible truth came out.
There was a time in history when everyone and their mother believed the sun revolves around the earth. But because of objective material reality- because of experiments done over and over again- we now know that that is not true. People thought the earth was flat until many dudes went all the way around and showed that objectively - materially - it is true that the world is not flat.
It is not simply consensus and power that make a thing true. It’s objective material reality- that yea might take some time to have everyone see the evidence or even develop evidence in scientifically rigorous ways - but it is still a real thing.
You didn’t take the covid vaccine because of consensus and power - you took it because of published research that showed efficacy of those drugs. You don’t think climate change isn’t real because there’s no consensus- it is real because of objective material reality.
You don’t believe in the Christian god or Yahweh or any number of other gods because of consensus. You wait for objective material proof.
Your only exception to all of this - I’m willing to bet - is gender. Because it’s the last acceptable religious movement that refuses to consider material reality so of course you think it’s disinformation. When religious people encounter information that causes cognitive dissonance they blame the devil too. You have shibboleths ( trans women are women. Non binary is valid)- and your rituals ( pronoun games) too.
In this thread you’ve gone from a relatively moderate position of “ that’s not what the evidence says” to “ well if the evidence says that it’s colonialism “ to “ the truth is unknowable anyway - it’s all power and social construction”. All because you have cognitive dissonance.

Our education system is broken, hijacked by generations of academics and jurists who predominantly subscribe to one political and social ideology. This has made it easy for individuals like Sibal and Ramesh to advance their campaign. In exercising its unbridled power, this lobby has overridden the constitution and infused school/college texts with their ideology. A mere campaign to revise and improve the constitution—to remove politically and socially charged terms like "secular" and "socialist" introduced by Indira Gandhi during the emergency—is portrayed by these individuals as "an attack on the constitution."
Point to note—The Wire prides itself on being independent and unbiased. It belittles other media organizations, often with compelling reasons, for being pro-Modi or controlled/owned by politicians and corporates. I really want to know how they are any better, running a show hosted by an active politician (a sitting Rajya Sabha member, no less) on their platform. Where's the liberal outrage here for unbiased and independent journalism?
Why should any viewer consider the content or the narratives platformed on The Wire as gospel truth and not INDI Alliance election propaganda?
Would like to get familiar with the environmental law practice in India.
Can someone please suggest books and other texts that one can read to familiarise oneself with the field.
Thanks.
Your body like you’d own a handbag. Let’s all disassociate together because then we can all be “healthy” because we all go to therapy. In fact you can’t be healthy without going to therapy. The natural states of minds is to be unhealthy- you need to go to therapy and be taught to be healthy. Let’s give you some hormones that will shred your bones and cause cancer because you have big feelings about gender stereotypes. Let’s pretend minors can make life altering medical decisions because frontal lobe development isn’t a real thing - maybe they’re precocious ? Let’s say fat people who are looking themselves are actually healthy even if all of them are dying because of an obesity epidemic. Making people feel good about themselves is more important than actually wanting people to have good lives. Emotions are real and biology isn’t. Let’s also pretend that your biological parents - the folks who gave birth to you and who fed and housed and cared for you all your life aren’t your real parents when they do things that make you mad. Instead let’s pretend strangers on the internet who have questionable views about incest and childhood are your “glitter family”.
And if anyone tells you any different they’re an evil terf nazi bitch and we should literally put them in prison or murder them.
It’s completely off the rails divorced from reality this nonsense.
Any idea about how much does an A3 at SAM makes?
What proportion. Without British colonisation of course we wouldn’t be a secular democracy- we weren’t a secular democracy before they came.
Is Christian fundamentalism or Hindu fundamentalism the dominant group within Christianity or Hinduism ? Do the Christians in Nordic countries and America and England arrive at secularism because their religious fundamentalists are tempered by the enlightenment values of most Christian’s in those countries ?
Is India perhaps secular because many many Hindus including Gandhi and Nehru and Ambedkar and everyone else who thought like them rejected Hindu fundamentalism of their coreligionists in favour of a secular state ?
Why then are people in iran or Pakistan or Afghanistan unable after all this time to reject the fundamentalists among their coreligionists ? Why are they not secular democracies ?

You want non binary to be a thing so bad you’re willing to ignore the real distress of these forcibly cast rated and exploited men because you want your favourite elite academic to be validated as a prophet. It’s disgusting.
Also, what will motivate you to join such a firm, and how important are the following factors in your decision – (i) lack of options, (ii) reputation of the partner(s); (iii) reputation of the firm as a whole; (iv) nature of work; (v) WLB and non-monetary benefits (such as WfH etc), and (vi) how close the remuneration is to the market/transparency in remuneration structure?
1. King's requires a 'good 2:1' (or similar language used on their website). In their classification system, that would mean above 64 to 65%, with a '2:1' (or 'upper second class honours degree') being 60% or above.
2. Anything below 60% is on shaky ground with QMUL as well. Check their entry requirements.
2) NALSAR (cause its relatively older in age)
3) NUJS (same as NALSAR)
4) NLUD (relatively lower offers as it’s somewhat younger as compared to NALSAR or NUJS)
5) GNLU (there were rising offers till about 2022, ‘23 was completely flat idkw)
Honourable mentions:
NLUJ and NLIU get 2 or 3 offers between them each year.
First, what is the difference between Miscellaneous and Regular? SC treats matters in which notice has not yet been issued as miscellaneous, these are mostly fresh appeals or SLPs. The SC also sometimes is keen to pass orders in fresh appeals or SLPs, these types of matters, though no longer fresh (in that notice has been issued), retain their tag as being miscellaneous. As a practical fact, most appeals and SLPs in which SC issues notice tend to retain their tag as miscellaneous, indicating that the SC would like to finish them off sooner rather than later.
Regular on the other hand is a list of matters in which the SC has issued notice but doesn't see the need to finish immediately, therefore they are okay with taking up those matters as and when they get the time. These are matters usually where a SLP has been admitted and converted into a Civil Appeal.
In sum, let's say you file an appeal, when it comes up on the first date it is miscellaneous, if the SC issues notice and fixes a date in some time, it would retain its status as being miscellaneous. The SC could also decide to admit the appeal and hear it as and when it gets the chance, then the matter would fall into the regular list.
Going from here. The Miscellaneous (advance) is the list of Miscellaneous matters that may be listed on a given date, this is not final, it is subject to modifications and deletions. The Miscellaneous (Main) is the list of Miscellaneous that are listed on a given date. The Miscellaneous (supplementary) is the list of Miscellaneous matters that were added last minute. Similarly for regular.
The admin being toxic to the bsc students is flat out lie. In fact, the admin is heavily pushing this concept of bsc llb since they were the ones to introduce it.
About discrimination from other students, I would say ranges from less to almost none, especially for this year. Our seniors in bsc llb did face one or two incidents in the beginning but since then, there have been 2 entire big fests and numerous other activities held at nujs and both bsc and ba have collaborated on the occasions, even participating in various moot court competitions together. In fact, in both of the 2 incidents mentioned above the seniors from 3rd and 4th year helped mediate the issues between both the batches.
Overall I feel the atmosphere is pretty welcoming. Any noticeable bits of "hate" are slowly fading fast, since in the words of a bsc seniors ." both bsc and ba have got proportional amounts of backs in contracts, and since then they have understood we are worth the same" XD

How I miss the time when this country was ruled by intellectuals like Ramesh.
Why you want to anonymously write here 😂
Why do you want to hide your identity if you have some valid criticism?
Looking for the salaries of freshers (straight out of law school) working in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. Kindly let me know!
Is there a major difference in the salary between the two?
I'm not very sure, but I was the only one interviewed for the position up untill the second round at least.
if it is below 65% its unlikely that LSE or UCL is going to consider you
if it is more than 60% but less than 65% KCL may consider you (I am assuming you are from one of the NLUs)
if your score is between 55%-60% you can get into QMUL, Manchester, Birmingham etc.
BTW you did not discuss why you want to do LLM directly after LLB? may i ask the reasons
Now I have never worked in this industry at all and I am not even sure if I will get interest. Will I have decent opportunities after taking up this job or will I get limited to one particular area of practice.
What do you guys think, should I join or not?
What say??? I'm basing this on anecdotal evidence and hearsay.
2. Recent talks given to future trainees (those offered a training contract who haven't yet completed the SQE) have hinted that there might be more chances for secondments in the US and more US deal-flows. In other words, the quality of professional development that trainees will be undergoing if this materialises is enhanced; the exposure levels for associates will also be going up.
3. Purely a hypothesis, as someone who is interested in the UK law school foreign university collaboration landscape (anyone who thinks otherwise, please explain why, will be interested to hear). They might increasingly value those who have knowledge of both the law of England and Wales and the United States, like those with LLB - JD qualifications - i.e., law students who have a UK LLB with an American JD added on (e.g., graduates of the KCL/Georgetown or LSE/Columbia LLB - JD programmes). This would be if they needed greater expert knowledge on US matters in London.
