Got into top T1 NLU this year, I have a budget of 80k(savings) currently using a 12 year old Dell Intel I3 laptop with windows 10 works fine with charger and all but want to upgrade any suggestions???? (Ideally around 60/70k)
if your use is limited and youβre not interested in using any crack softwares you can get macbook 2020 around 60-65k which should be more than enough for college day to day task.
Almost everything can be cracked on Mac (2020 onwards) as well... I use cracked word, adobe and yada yada. Please don't limit your horizon thinking that softwares cannot be cracked on mac. Never paid for any subscription.
If you're okay with moving on to Apple OS, would definitely recommend a Macbook, however the entire MS office bundle and most applications which you get for free on windows is paid on MacOs not free. (Although you could pirate it by installing crack files like I did, but there's always a possibility that the crack gets removed in the next software update). Otherwise if you want to stay with windows, look for different models of ThinkPad. Great performance, Really good battery life, extremely rugged built and very light as well. You could even do a little bit of light gaming on the side if you're into that sort of thing. Nothing heavy tho, as it would hamper the battery life of the laptop. I would suggest to stay away from any of the Asus models as the battery life on Asus is extremely pathetic and the build quality in general sucks.
Any ryzen machine even as old as ryzen 4700u will last you 5 years. Been using a ryzen 4500 u I baught last year and it's been fun. I have multiple as many as 40 tabs open at once always. Don't game much so it has been amazing for me. Battery backup also around 8-10 hours on average brightness. You can use ms word and office without subscription model unlike in macs. Makes a difference imo but to you your own.
If you want value for money and understand tech then I would suggest you to get a windows laptop. Bang for the buck, as far as hardware is concerned. However, if the purpose is to only handle simple task then that amount of hardware is not worth it for you, perhaps? In that case, I would suggest the M1 (solely for the optics, software, and ability to handle required tasks). But you would be overpaying honestly?!
I use an Acer Swift. Perfectly handy for law school tasks. Updated it to Windows 11 about a year ago. Get about eight hours of battery life after three years' usage.
Get any windows laptop (I prefer HP/Asus) which has a good amount of RAM (8/16 GB), SDD Memory (512 GB/1TB) and a decent core (Ryzen 5/ Intel i5 + Any Generation will work). Make sure you have a big screen so that split screen will be convinient and also make sure it is light weight. Please don't buy a gaming laptops, because although they have amazing performance, they are very heavy and have less battery life. You'll be able to find a decent Lenovo laptop with about specs for about 60k. Don't get a MacBook it's unnecessary and expensive with bro high repair and maintenance cost. Get a windows which has Microsoft home and student for free since that also costs 5k if you don't have it pre-installed. Don't get trapped in the apple ecosystem it really is very expensive, especially as a student.
5 years ago, I would have posted the same query if I knew there is something called LegallyIndia. I bought Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 when I went to college, and it has performed excellently. Got done with college, it still runs as smooth as when I bought it. Most importantly, the battery life is insane (given the fact it has touch screen). The battery is still pretty solid and I can easily work on it for 7-8 hours straight without charge.
Having said that, if buying new, 1080p screen, about 8 gigs of ram, 512 SSD and a Ryzen 5/ i5 11th gen or more should set you up.
