I have received a PPO and I am set to start as an A0 in 2025 in a Tier 1 firm in Bangalore. My college is affiliated to KSLU, which has delayed it's academic year so I will only be writing my final 10th sem exams in July 2025, and the results will only be out at the end of Sept 2025 (these are my estimates since they don't provide us with a proper timeline either and they could get delayed as well).

I have heard the joining date for most firms in Bangalore are in July. Will I be able to start as an A0 in August 2025 or do I have to wait for my results in Sept 2025 and only then be able to join in October 2025?

Good: Highly qualified profs, the curriculum is good and will give you an edge throughout your career.

Bad: Very strict admin, tough deadlines, not enough space to house so many people on campus.

There's no definite answer. It all depends on your 'ex'. If he wants he can definitely block your chances. But the management or new Partner could still look at other factors like your abilities and all. If the Senior management wants they can take you back no matter the past.

Please tell me how does a foreign university campus besides yours help you as a student of GNLU. Are you going to learn what is taught there by osmosis? Then you may as well as join the foreign university rather than GNLU, you are paying high enough as an NRI student. As for other GIFT city businesses, which business hires exclusively from the same city? Had that been the case, the Delhi and Mumbai law firms and companies would not have been full of students of NLSIU, NALSAR, NUJS etc.

Either will do if your aim is to get a corp job from campus. NUJS will help more if you want policy jobs too, mostly because they have got alumni in all those places too, in greater number than NLUJ at present. Students from both the place get foreign university scholarships a plenty, though NUJS alumni have got better record with Rhodes etc. NLUJ has better infra and a more proactive VC currently. NUJS currently has better faculty, but with NLUJ's recent recruitment spree, that may change in future.

I feel this is a very relevant topic for LI. A lot of law firm people face this dilemma as well. The fact is that many lawyers prefer a life with money, travel and luxury cars over having kids and spending money on kids. Money is important here. Look at law firm partners: their kids go to good IB schools, then Ashoka or Jindal, then a master's abroad. It's difficult for everyone to replicate this. In fact, even these partners limit themselves to 1 kid. 30 years ago having 2 kids was considered normal. Now no one has more than 1 kid because they can't commit so much time and money, including partners.

P.S. By partners I don't mean super-rich law firm heirs like the children of Cyril and Shardul Shroff. I mean your regular NLU alum partner.

I have just started reading about legal philosophers. How are they different from lawyers, advocates or professors? Would someone like BS Chimni be considered a legal philosopher? Is working on the jurisprudence part or theoretical conceptual part considered philosophy of law ?

What is the rationale behind this question and why would such emails be wrong? We are in the service industry and our particular sector is extremly contempettive and depending on whatever vertical of law one is in can be quite crowded.

Not very clear about law but all of this is a very common business practice. Emails, cold calls, meet and greets. People adopt whatever method they are comfortable with to put their name out there and as you put it, to solicit clients.

If you're doing competition law then stick to it. Generalist roles seem better but the coming time is of specialisation. Pick a good team and you're sorted for good especially because competition law is gonna pick up in next 20-30 years in India. The earlier you begin the better.

GNLU is between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. Bascially Australian universities like Daekin and Wollongong have set up their India campus in GIFT city, which is right next to Gnlu. The kind of MNC's coming to Gift city is gradual, but top foreign banks, and even Google has set up an office there. So yes, stretching to a 5-year span - I might see Gnlu has some edge in regards to that

And for the sake of the legal question- yes. Nazi laws were laws too. Peruvian laws arent comparable to nazi laws at all- but they are laws too. laws you dont like are laws too. thats how laws work.

One thing that tends to help me is framing the question in a precise way. Take a beat and think about what is the question you're looking to answer. Sometimes what we think is one question is two or three interconnected questions, so slowing down and framing your question will at least give you clarity on what you're looking for. I suggest after thinking about it, taking a few more minutes to write down your question or questions in a formal way. Once you have a question written down you'll find it easier to look for answers. Another thing that helps is taking some time to identify what sort of authority are you looking for. At least for case law research, before jumping in and randomly reading cases, it helps to have some clarity on what would a case need to have (in terms of facts) for you to think it fits your proposition. That's actually true, PSUs wont pay a fresher beyond 70k. The basic for E1/E0 is 50k pm, which is roughly 70-75k pm in hand plus allowances. Please do not expect beyond 85-90k pm, inclusive of allowances. What you get in exchange for this sum of money is a big zero. PSU is the worst place to be, unless you have always dreamt for a sarkari naukri. This is my personal experience having worked with a PSU for almost 2years. Bureaucracy and red tapism at every level, people are dead bodies and lack basic etiquettes. Since I had worked in the pvt sector/law firm prior to joining the PSU, i would enjoy the stupidity of the PSU employees during initial days. However, my life was hell thanks to my bosses as they would ask me to do every stupid job, except my expertise - law.

I'm an incoming A0 in T1 and I am doing a mandatory internship with them a before I officially join them in July. I've been in a constant stress since then.

I consider myself smart but the pressure to be perfect is taking a toll on me. I am too harsh on myself whenever I receive a feedback on a work which is not 'perfect'.

I want some reassurance from my fellow mates and seniors as to how I can smoothly manage my internship while impressing my senior as well. I also wanted to know if my offer letter can be revoked if I don't perform up to their standards?
