We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

BTW funny to see Birlaโs reaction to Kim. Least interested. ๐
Watching didi and Akhilesh in attendance left me in spilts ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ Go liberals!
Letโs discuss this!
(1) promoting yourself (explaining why you are the best possible person for the internship, because of your experiences, qualifications, moots etc.) and why you will benefit them/their organisation by interning; and
(2) oiling their backsides in the sense of telling them why experience with them is the best way for you to enhance your employability later, and how, in general, interning with them will be the best fit for your career plans, in the larger scheme of things.

LMFAO. Bro, what kind of argument is that??? ๐คฃ An arguing counsel 100% represents a client! Also, don't make a distinction between solicitor and barrister, because everyone is an advocate in India.

People interested in corp, though a minority, have T1 callbacks lined up.
- Modi loses seats and Congress bounces back
- Labour wins UK
- Left wins France
But what about the US election after what happened today?
hsf calls about 20-30 people for first stage interview after which about 20 (max) make it to the AC offline. HSF sends out first shortlists through the month of july so its as and when they review apps and not like links where its sent out at once
Why don't you really get back and focus on classes to ensure you can get into one of these rather than start these utter nonsense discussions?
What does low salary say about SAM? It's already criticized for being leader in nepotism whereas trilegal with self grown partners has not only crossed 1000 lawyers but also pays way more. I presume that the pay is even going to be higher in hierarchy. Is Sam really not a T-1 anymore?
A wave of attrition is coming for SAM. Many A0s will be upset. Most of them are top performer of their batches and seeing their peers who are just as good as them, if not better making 18-19LPA with same amount of working hours, better office, among others.
Why the hell they don't retire? They can easily retire within 5-8 years of becoming senior partner.
thank you
pls suggest names.
list could be useful for others too
Today, as a law firm-ite, I weigh 84. I do more exercise than I ever did: jogging, swimming etc. I eat healthy too. I hardly drink. Still I don't lose weight. It's because of the lifestyle and stress in a firm. I don't want to use Wegovy as I am scared, but 100% empathy for people who do use it because I think it's impossible to lose weight once you grow older and join corporate life.
NO, IM not the contact PPO guy from bharucha.
Its simple, an average tier 1 team would typically have 9 people:
1) 1 Senior Partner
- Pay would range between 1.5 to 3 crore
- Supposed to bill twice the team cost
- Supposed to bill thrice his pay
2) 1 Junior Partner
- Pay would range between 80 lakhs to 1.5 crores
- Supposed to bill 40% of the team cost
3) 1 Principal Associate
- Pay would range between 55 to 80 lakhs
- Supposed to bill between 1.5 to 3 crores
4) 2 Senior Associates
- Pay would be between 30 to 50 lakhs
- Not given targets but differs b/w firms
5) 4 Associates
- Pay would range between 15 to 30 lakhs
- Not given targets but differs b/w firms
Therefore (higher side*) costs would be: 9 crores; with suppose a 15 crore target.
1) Associates - 1 crore (higher side*)
2) Senior Associates - 1 crore (higher side*)
3) Principal Assocate - 1.5 crore (higher side*)
4) Junior Partner - 2 crore (higher side*)
5) Senior Partner - 3.5 crore (higher side*)
II. The Poaching
Now a typical team cost as discussed here is 9 crores.
The billings of such teams may be anywhere between 12 to 20 crores.
However, the target usually create hogwash and poaching because of:
1) Bad performance at current firm (i.e. missing targets, bad market, less deals, attrition)
2) Rival offers (lesser targets at rival firms)
3) Equity components (equity offers to senior partners)
III. The Trilegal Chapter
Simply put, Trilegal has managed to bridge lesser targets with stable equity components for partners.
Hope this analysis rings a bell!

so any info on li should be treated with some circumspection
However once you get a job, grades do not matter at all. All that matters is your last job and in some cases your college. No one cares how much you scored or ranked in class.
But grades matter a lot for the first job, especially if you want to get it on Day Zero.
Here's my mail id.
can you pls mail me here??
1. Trump wins on sympathy vote and Biden is anyway failing?
2. Biden replaced by Michelle Obama to counter Trump sympathy vote?
3. RW media paints the shooter as a far-left guy and undecided neutral voters go with Trump (even ahead of Michelle Obama) for fear of the far-left?
Our big worry should be the impact of a Trump presidency on the economy and immigration. He recently said that US university graduate immigrants should get citizenship ahead of uneducated immigrants, which works well for educated Indians who want to study in the US and settle there. But if he imposes protectionist measures and stops outsourcing, that will hurt our economy as the entire Indian IT economy is a glorified call centre.
Iโm also expecting stocks to crash next week because overall this increases the chance of a Trump presidency.
Should I spend 70-80% of it on buying things for myself, family and partner (saving 20-30% of it for my expenses for next month) or should I start saving, investing etc etc from the first salary itself?
