We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.
Therefore everything you read here is very likely unverified, rumour, speculation and/or downright false.
In continuing to read anything here, you must therefore agree not to take anything you read here as factual and that you will exercise due caution, diligence and common sense before acting on any information you may come across here.
You also agree to report any inaccurate or malicious comments with the buttons. Moderators take action within 24 hours, as required and appropriate under law.
Our full terms and conditions apply too.
Do you solemnly agree to all of the above?
But do continue. Itβs almost cute how you mistake seasoned experience for arrogance. If anonymous rants on LI are your pastime, by all means, entertain us. Weβll be here, laughing at your attempt to stay relevant while you lurk in the shadows.
Congi at least withdrew it after outcry
Hard work and grit, with a mix of luck can take you to places you didn't think were achievable. I know so many 7.5ers from so many different batches who got placed in Tier-1s. Don't keep your knowledge shallow, get good publications, intern extra hard, you'll be recognized and picked up by a partner in your final year. Don't overthink it, maintain a balance when it comes to partying and studying. You'll be fine kiddo.
Attitude kiss baat ka hai
If not, isnβt it possible to do a Puja Khedkar and game the system? For example, if they take income certificates at face value while determining non-creamy layer OBCs or general category EWS, then anyone could submit a false income tax certificate, isnβt it? I was also reading in the news that a scam has been unearthed in Bengal where people from Bihar have falsely being showing Bengal domicile and availing of Bengal govt jobs. So couldnβt someone from outside Karnataka similarly show Karnataka domicile and sneak into NLSIU?

However, if thatβs not the case, then you gotta pull up your socks properly. I wonβt say itβs easy to cross 8 by the end of 3rd year (considering the number of credits), more so if youβre involved in the committee and the fest BS. If youβre hell bent on pulling up your scores, stay low and focus on your internals, start a 2-3 days prior to the deadline and youβll be good to go. If you stick to this, you should be touching 8 or crossing 8 by the end of 4th year, depending upon your GPA in the previous ones.
Personally, my CGPA was towards the lower end of 7 and by the time I graduated (not considering 5th year scores), I was in the 8+ bracket.
All the best.

Are they opening an office in Kolkata? Insiders please spill some tea.
I am a smoker for the last 5 years. Female 28, Doing Litigation in Pune District Courts.
Please don't give advice like - Breath fresh air. Yes. I know both smoking and vaping are equally harmful. I know it's dangerous. I know there are nicotine rehab options.
I am considering vaping because of no smell and harms to third person.
To smokers,
Which is less harmful Smoking or Vaping?
Which device do you use for vaping?
What do you look forward? Cessation
Taking it too personally will just increase frustration.
Just think that some years down the line you will have the same power.
Why would the liberal/left do this?
There are very few tier 1 corporate law firms which consider 3 year program students for placements/internships at GLC
Plenty opportunities at litigation
yet, from what is observed, GLC gives better opportunities to 3 year program students among other colleges in Mumbai and Maharashtra
From what is heard, ILS management promotes 5 year program students over 3 year program students (better professors, classrooms etc)
Atleast at GLC the college administration doesn't discriminate between 3 & 5 year program students
GLC also has location advantage
Student can intern for 2-2.5 years at corporate law firms
GLC name still holds some value among legal fraternity & opens a lot of doors

What is this gym membership for 10,000/month? Last time I check, Anytime Fitness ANNUAL membership was 24,000 including taxes. You can obviously go to less fancy gyms which will be like 1000/month.
Private will not have any problem but exceptions are always there. Govt jobs you may have issues with eligibility criteria but again if there's a 22 year old and 30 year old applying for the same job, there will be people who may go for young and energetic at the same time there will be people who may prefer the "old" and mature.
Don't be bogged down by the "age" related issues.
Mumbai CapMarks keeps you busy tho. And the members itself were not rude or anything
Do you guys also think that the top-4 NLUs position has been settled atleast for this decade? The top-4 NLUs are likely to remain these institutions only while the rankings might vary over this decade.
1. No, I got them, but only through contacts2. Very few. In my entire batch, I don't think anyone got a tier 1 placement.
3. For the same band and firm, I don't think so but you don't get the same placement as a 5 year graduate to begin with
4. I think you meant "discrimination"? And no, not really, but recruiters do. GLC is still better I've heard ILS doesn't even allow in-house roles to go to3 year graduates.
My advice: if you're doing the 3 year course you're already at a disadvantage so you might as well just do it from an NLU so that you at least have the NLU tag. Try NLSIU, if you're smart enough to get the rank for it. Avoid SLS, ILS and other colleges that have mandatory attendance because placement cells aren't going to help you and you'll have to find a job on your own.
Is it case briefs and research ?
Can anybody tell me how long should a case brief should be and what all should it contain. Thanks
Are top Law schools just for the namesake?
Sadly, it's not the same LI which was back then.....
After another 12 years, I am now earning 20,00,000 a month. With the ability to manage my time the way I want to, saying no to work that I don't feel like.
