I wanted to know which team is better to intern with at SRL in Bangalore - Tech team or M&A?
I have my previous internships in M&A, PE, VC but also have tech experience with startups and have a lot of interest in tech and wish to explore the space.
Iβm mainly looking to compare the practice areas on the basis of:
- quality and amount of work
- work culture within these teams (how helpful seniors are and how chill partners/ SAs are)
Thanks!
With regards to how helpful associates are, I would say you can ask as many questions to gain clarity on the deliverable and no one will mind.
All the best for your internship, buddy!
I have heard itβs possible to get a direct assessment internship there. If you could tell me how true that is, that would be helpful. And what are some things to keep in mind when interning with these teams to have a good impression and get a PPO apart from general advice? Anything specific to the firm or team?
Appreciate it!
2. Yes, it is possible to get a direct assessment internship especially if you're in your final year. Please note that the internship interview may involve technical questions - only knowing the CV may not be enough to clear the interview (like it would be for clearing internship interviews at other T1 law firms). You must study the major laws and issues concerning the practice area that you have applied for.
3. For PPO, the teams are quite selective. You're judged on your research, analytical and presentation skills. Make sure your research is thorough and your presentation at the end of the internship addresses a practical issue and provides a practical solution. A mere theoretical understanding will not be sufficient.
General Piece of Advice: Getting a PPO depends on many factors and not getting one doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have the above skills. It could be that there was no vacancy or that some other candidate was more visible to the team in that particular month.
2. Mention the specific team you want to intern with in your cover letter.
3. Highlight past internships in the same practice area and other achievements (see Mathew's comment describing the selection process here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7163726041721622529?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28activity%3A7163726041721622529%2C7164122109202419712%29&dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd_comment%3A%287164122109202419712%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7163726041721622529%29)
4. Follow up with the HR if you don't get a response.
Should i just mail their HR just in case or wait and see what happens?
how to get a ppo there?
do they give stipend?
Many LinkedIn posts of theirs have this mail ID.
I hope people have the time and resources to respond even if its rejection. These are some Basics which every law firm needs to follow i.e. at least respond to an email but they fail at it so terribly.
yet they make such a hue and cry on social media about the writing style of fresh graduates when they share their resume through mail.
