It is with profound sorrow that we inform the sudden demise of Ms. Ipshita Sengupta, a graduate of the 2005 batch. Ipshita was a cheerful girl with an infectious smile that could lighten up the most serious situations. Her teachers fondly remember her as a diligent student who always ready with a helping hand to those in need. The entire University is shocked at her death and prays to the almighty that her family and friends finds strength to cope up with this irreparable loss.

Take the decision based on the kind of support you have from your family, financially, as well as emotionally. Ask yourself questions like can I keep apart 2 to 3 years of no income after graduation, or will your family need some sort of financial support from you?
You also have to see whether you yourself are a person willing to take risks, or put in another way, a person who can live with core regrets. It is better to have a regret that I spent two years pursuing a goal of my life and started my career late, than to have the regret for the rest of your entire life that you did not pursue what you actually wanted to do. If you do decide to take the exam, you will have to tell yourself that irrespective of the result, youβll be fine and your career will also be fine. If you dont clear the exam - worst case, maybe youβll take some more struggle than the peers around you, but 10-15 years later, what will matter is whether you did what you wanted to do in your heart. I personally know of a lot of people who committed to UPSC and judiciary, but could not clear the exam, and trust me all of those are doing fine today, they have figured out alternate paths and doors have opened eventually.
1. Mug up and practice all the PYPQs thrice. And understand the pattern of Questions;
2. Refer YT for Paper 1. Maximize your score there;
3. Just read basic syllabus, refer dukkis, and use telegram resources wisely;
4. Revise.
That's it! Just believe in yourself, trying is better than just sitting.
I didn't cleared, and didn't experienced. But if my response has helped you and motivated you even 1%, my job is done.
Iβm not sure if this post will make it either.
2. Delayed Moderation: More than 36 hours? I understand there are many factors, but this delay doesnβt seem fair.
These are my two complaints/suggestions. Please donβt feel targeted; I only hope this thread gets posted, unlike the previous two.

Pls suggest. Whether I should continue with my attempts or leave it and focus on practise and trh for higher judiciary exams.
Kindly give genuine advice.βοΈ

Which one stands highest in the hierarchy? How is BITSLAW School and How does it compare to Jindal and SLS P??? Fees is no barrier.
For me, it's when someone writes "mam" instead of "ma'am."
Let's hear yours now!
Really stupid this whole nonsense about why we canβt address old friends as βgirlsβ. My parents do so with their old classmates. This is why liberals are getting a bad rep these days. Trying to police language and label everything as a βmicro aggressionβ.
Suggestions would be helpful.
TIA.

Don't troll me, it's the firm
Whats the payscale for A0 at P&A law offices at both their mumbai and delhi office? And How's the work culture there? And How's ths hiring process?
Partner - You may work from home. Well you r lucky you work for me. Other firms do not allow this.
My 2 cents kid: look for alternatives. May make u slog ur ass off and tell u at the end βoops no vacancyβ. Happened to someone I know
It takes courage to follow the footsteps of bud light after the pushback it suffered post the infamous Dylan Mulvaney campaign. Will Jaguar be able to sail through and prove to be a beacon of cultural progress ?
2. Derivative and lackluster research because of unambitious folks and lack of incentive for good research in promotions.
3. Below par teaching standards because it's a last option for majority of people who got into acadmia. The ones who geniunely wanted to teach are good, but they're a dome a dozen.
4. Quid pro quo based appointments because "I am lazy collecting monthly paychecks and I don't want an over active colleague who will out shine me, so I will hire another lazy bumfck like me."
Busy week ahead in CAM??? π€

When a partner bills (let's say 50 crores) it does not mean that he filled timesheets worth 50 crores.
This simply means that it is the total amount billed / received (depends on how you look at it) by his entire team. For senior partners, like many in this chat, such teams will include multiple partners, and numerous PAs, SAs and associates. If a team comprises 20 people, billing 30 - 50 crore is quite feasible, especially for non-niche practice areas.
On average, a single resource will be able to able to generate 1 to 2 crores of received / billing in a financial year based on the practice and flow of work. (This can be higher for very high performing teams). For senior resources, the number will on the lower end of the spectrum.
It got me thinking.
π Do you remember what work-life balance looked like before?
1. Your laptop stayed at your desk.
2. Emails didnβt follow you home.
3. Collaboration didnβt mean being online 24/7.
When the office doors closed, so did the workday.
But now, it feels like companies want the best of both worlds.
βCome back to the office for collaboration!β they say.
...But also answer emails from your couch at 10 PM.
Hereβs what I think!
β If you want me back in the office, Iβm clocking out at 6:00 PM.
β If you want me to be available for evening meetings, let me work from home so that I can manage my personal life accordingly.
You canβt have both.
Apparently, CAM requires its lawyers to seek prior permission from the firm before making any stock investment, which never comes. Would assume SAM has a similar/same approach? What about AZB, Trilegal, Khaitan, TT&A, S&R, JSA and Platinum?
Do yall actually follow the procedures or just invest when the time is right?
But hey, just kidding. Relax, take a deep breath. This is literally just the beginning.
Yes, I know, the first semester feels like the apocalypse. Everyone seems to have everything figured outβgrades, committees, internships, secret maps to Hogwarts-level career tricks from seniors. But trust me, itβs all a mirage. Most people are just winging it, and so can you (with a bit of strategy).
Hereβs the deal, (which is from my personal experience):
1. Grades are not the endgame. Sure, you need to stay above the "we'll see you next semester if you pass" level. But anything between an 8 and a 10 GPA is fine.
2.
3. Committees don't really matter. Many committees are about showing up when people start dropping out. No experience? Be shameless. Everyone starts somewhere. Volunteer like youβre desperate (because, letβs face it, you kind of are), and committees will eventually let you in. Plus, future recruitments donβt ask if you joined late. I started in committees from my third year and became the student head of the mooting committee in the 5th year so, LOL.
4.
5. You are right, seniors are important. But doesn't mean you need to gel with every senior. You just need one helpful soul. Engage with them on specific topicsβwhat they like, their internships, or even your confusion. As an aside, most seniors enjoy the ego boost of being treated like experts, so theyβll spill their tips if you ask nicely. Personal experience :)
6.
7. Connections? Build them outside. Internships are goldmines for networking. I didnβt come from a T1 NLUβin fact, I was in a T3 private university. First sem? Total disaster. But by my third year, Iβd figured out how to maneuver internships and pick up connections. A great example. I was interning at a district court and an independent lawyer who was against my senior in one of the cases I was observing helped me land an internship at a T1 firm which I turned into a PPO. It happens, trust me.
8.
So chill. The fact that youβre already reflecting and asking for advice means youβre ahead of most people who think vibing their way through law school will cut it. Youβve got time. Focus on learning and showing up. Everything else will follow.
All the best!
If someone knows please share. Have a callback scheduled for April next year. What are the chances of converting it with respect to hiring timelines?
I completely understand the importance of confidentiality and privacy of the clients you work with and this is a huge ask, but it'd be great if you happen to have a drive link or know of any shared folder where people from law firms keep these kinds of templates.
alternative options are more likely to work
coercive policies never work, have you not done your crim law modules yet? deterrent theory, retributive theory, preventive theory, reformative theory etc.

Hereβs the tea: the case was all about whether serving WhatsAppβs Indian subsidiary counts as valid service on its foreign parent company. The stakes were highβquestions about the Hague Service Convention, corporate separateness, and even fairness in procedural timelines were all up in the air. And, of course, WhatsApp had the chance to argue it all. Did they take it? Nope. They dipped.
Letβs break it down:
1. Hague Service Convention: This is the international playbook for serving companies abroad. You donβt just roll up to their local office and say, βHereβs your summons, mate.β Itβs more involved than that.
2. Corporate Separateness: WhatsAppβs Indian entity is not its parent company. This is basic corporate law. Courts donβt blur those lines without good reason, and WhatsApp couldβve hammered that point home.
3. Delays: The foreign parent was served ages after the Indian subsidiary. But the court was still counting the 120-day filing deadline from the Indian service date. Sounds sketchy, no?
But instead of taking these juicy legal issues head-on, WhatsApp decided to back out. And not quietlyβthey brought in new counsel just to wave the white flag. Maybe itβs just me, but this feels less like strategy and more like panic.
Why This Was a Big Deal
This was more than just a procedural spat. This was a chance to define how global businesses navigate the Indian legal system. A win here couldβve saved WhatsAppβand every other multinationalβyears of future headaches. But now? Weβre left with unanswered questions and a missed chance to clear up some serious grey areas.
The Takeaway
WhatsApp had the ball, the field, and the crowd watchingβand they just walked off. Whether itβs bad prep, lack of confidence, or straight-up overthinking, itβs hard not to see this as a huge fumble.
What do you think? Tactical retreat or a case of cold feet? Because from where Iβm sitting, it looks like someone just hit βunsendβ on a perfectly good opportunity.
Lets discuss this!
Please reply especially if you are aware of the aviation practice of the firm. Thanks!
I heard that Desai and Diwanji just started it's capital markets team in gurgaon office review on it
Hoping it also reaches more of my brothers, sisters.
