I am a final-year law student set to intern with the TMT team at Indus, Mumbai in Januaryβ25. Does anyone know if Indus Mumbai has stopped hiring for their TMT team or if there are any available vacancies?
Would appreciate any information as it could help me make an informed choice.
Thanks in advance.
1. RCC + Batch rank- Law firms liase with certain select colleges and shortlist top rankers. These form the majority vacancies available for the month.
2. Reference - HR's permit certain vacancies for contact based internships- from Partners or Clients. Such interns are usually not provided stipends and have different procedures in place like not being tested for presentations. You can obtain references from networking effectively, Linkedin or in person.
3. Assignments - Firms like Trilegal, JSA and Bharucha & Partners have assessment processes for internship selections, before an interview or GD. They are easier to navigate and reduce ambiguity.
4. Vacancies - Months like May - July and October - December are crowded and filled by the above. Applying well in advance and in other months especially in offline interns through HR SPOC mail IDs also helps. You have to follow up too. Do understand that the HR will still prioritise objective things like Batch Rank and college, as they recieve like 100 CVs a day.
Also as another question I don't understand the laws regarding OCIs very well as some comment I read earlier said that I can't be an advocate but other say I can work in a firm as a partner so I just wanted some more clarification on that. Thank you very much.
In my 6th month as corporate lawyer, as fully grown 23 year old male child, I cried to my PA saying that this job is not meant for me. I also did that with a friend, she comforted me (bless her) saying that she had also gone through the exact same (crying in the bathroom, hating the work) thing but came out of the other side in flying colours (which is true, given the jobs she has been at and trajectory).
Iβm now in the 5-6 bracket and I couldnβt have been more wrong.
There are many things I donβt like - hours, politics, bad faith, externalities - but at the core, I really like the work that I do. Around the 6-8th month, I also thought that LLM was the logical explanation, and I applied but chose not to go to as I was able to find some method to the madness of the work I was doing, and then on doors opened on a regular basis to work on more interesting things or take more responsibility.
There is no quick fix to this. A lot of what youβre complaining about are factually true, or a product of extreme externalities that you donβt control (for example, you donβt control who your SA, PA and Partners will be nor how pushy your clients will be) and worse still, you also donβt control your training. Unlike University, you donβt know that Tax Law will arrive in Year X, Semester Y. You could be drafting the first cut of the SPA in your first year or your fourth year, depending on circumstances. Thatβs exciting but also a lot of pressure. The idea is to convert it from pressure to some sort of excitement, and most importantly, it is important for you to be in control of your time, something I enjoyed at my first and second (current) job.
Iβm very impatient as a lawyer, and I would trade growth for money at this stage of my career (Iβm privileged enough to say that) but Iβve to remind myself that you canβt really trade off time.
I know none of this might sound actionable to you - and Iβm sorry I canβt be of more help. If I can help you, please let me know and have a conversation - if that means going through some concepts your seniors did not explain, or some work you donβt know how to approach (which costs a lot of time youβre losing) - Iβd like to help. I donβt know how to leave behind a contact without exposing my identity - but if you have a better suggestion, Iβm happy to help! :)
Fields that currently interest me as of now - Aviation law, international trade law, ADR, sustainable practices and environment law. Are any of these fields worth pursuing? How can I transition into one of them as a fresher with just one year of experience in a different area? Are there any other fields that I can transition better into? (Please also recommend firms for the respective field)

is it bearable???
βThey are exhorting other men to either stay away from marriage orβfed on a steady diet of American dramasβlook for βprenupsβ. In the same breath where they complain about the supposedly widespread misuse of anti-dowry harassment laws, they are demanding dowry be made legalβ¦.
In this echo chamber, the loudest voices are not only suggesting that womenβs rights be rolled back, but that their education and free will ought to be actively ignored. They want women to be forced to carry children and beaten to be kept in line. The not-so-loud ones, meanwhile, are filling up the mentions of womenβs accounts, freely vending rape, mutilation, and death threats.
β¦.But the conversation following his death could have gone in any direction: Maybe a genuine questioning of mental health among men and what stops them from seeking help.
β¦Indian men build these elaborate fortresses of stoic masculinity, then act surprised when they find themselves desperately alone in their darkest moments, prepared to vilify the most convenient targetsβIndian women.
This is the conversation we should be having in the wake of Subhashβs death. How men are taught from childhood that their only acceptable emotional outlets are anger and aggression. How the same patriarchal structures that promise men power and privilege also sentence them to emotional illiteracy.β

I have an internship at a T1 in Delhi coming up. During the time for application although I selected my preferred area, I haven't recieved any confirmation of a team by HR yet.
I wanted to ask can I call the HR and to request to assign a particular Partner/team i want to work with or is that out of the norm?? I also have met the PA of the said team in the past so might help a bit more during the internship.
Any help is appreciated,thanks!
But only reflecting upon my current interests, I'd say that I am interested in this field of law. I like reading up about these stuff in my free time.Even during my CLAT prep, business laws principles in the legal Reasoning sections were what had my utmost attention News such as IPOs, Acquisitions, etc excites me and I also read up business case studies in my free time. I thought, I'd like to be on the centre of these business decisions and would like to know how businesses work from inside. Ofcourse, you all are much more experienced and know better than me.
I know this is a much more niched forum and I wouldn't have come here if I didn't require some serious guidance.
I am from the 2026 batch and have completed my internship with JSA last month in the B&F team. T1 NLU btw. How long does HR take to offer callback? And which teams are hiring and offer PPOs?Whats the procedure tho
Speak to people in the industry/ place of future work you are targeting - see what they say about the work culture.
Legal industry - thinking is a bit rigid, so most places have a βwork hard for 12 hoursβ mentality.
So has JSA and Saraf
So we can only export people, unfortunately.
And you should not be following your instinct because you sound like a Noob!
