Doesn’t matter, the kids are doing far better than their NUJS counterparts even without the aid of some top level alumni favouring them in firm placements. The college itself is run far more efficiently without any pointless state domicile and paid NRI quotas and whatnot. And being in Delhi, good faculty will naturally be attracted to it in the coming years so a few folks leaving won’t hurt it much. On the other hand, no one would want to live in Kolkata. So, in every sense, NLUD is far better than NUJS.

This is why I say, avoid social media to the extent possible, unless you want your brain to be fried or spoiled. Look at the choices of social media from my point of view as a blind aspiring lawyer: Twitter, whose accessibility is broken and where the level of toxicity is shocking (to say the least); Bluesky (which you can't even join without encountering an impossible-to-get-past accessibility barrier), which is boring and an echochamber for left-wing people who are obssessives about American politics; LinkedIn, which is a lot more accessible than Twitter for sure (but which has some issues here and there), where people try to be smart but end up being cringe or try to show a fake image of a 100% smooth career; and Legally India, which achieves top marks on the accessibility front (even if it isn't perfect), but where dick measuring like this is the norm. What hope is left in this world for the internet?

Internships are very different from actually working as an Associate. The stakes are much higher and there is lesser room for scope. I think you are bring taught everything because you cannot afford to make as many mistakes.

Look at the bright side - you didn’t know shit about law, until you were taught about it in law school. Here, you also have external help in the form of your seniors.

Just try to not make the same mistakes twice, double check the work you submit and you will be good to go.

Remember, your partner is much more experienced than you. He knows it takes time to learn this work, but he’ll judge you based on how well you implement what you’ve been taught.

Good luck! You don’t have to impress in just a couple of days - you don’t have to rush it. In the end, good impressions that last are built over time. :)

I am an experienced advocate with 3 years of experience in corporate and insolvency litigation leaching before NCLT and NCLAT. I also posses professional qualifications in CS, CMA and equipped with a LLM in International tax from Kings College London.

I would like to work with an advocate who practises both tax (be it direct or indirect tax) and corporate litigation before NCLT. However, I have not been fruitful in finding the right match, the advocates who practises both the aforementioned domains are senior counsels who practises almost all domain of laws, whereas i am only interested in tax, corporate and insolvency or there are only tax counsels.

So I am caught in quite a predicament, although it’s worth mentioning that I haven’t practised tax law at all but my professional qualifications and skills have enchanted my knowledge in tax. Further, I have always been fascinated with tax but I got a good opportunity to work at a good office before NCLT and NCLAT, so that’s the reason why I want to practise both tax and NCLT work and I don’t want to leave them out.

Who are these stalwarts who roam around the campus, but fail to teach students properly, because almost all the Jindal kids one comes across in internships or research positions fail to impress?

Listen, it’s not trollish to say that NLIU has declined. I have nothing against NLIU. The problem is that you had a corrupt VC for many years and then the MP govt has neglected it. They did a terrible thing by opening another NLU in Jabalpur and putting in funds there which could have gone to NLIU.

NUJS has also declined because of a corrupt admin and corrupt state govt, so not singling out NLIU.

Genuine and constructive criticism is not trolling!

Yet there are few Jindal grads who have managed to impress in the real world in over a decade and a half. Jindal faculty who are well known barely teach and they are forced to pander to the students' demands. In terms of absolute numbers is a misnomer. Jindal never places even 10% of any batch, so 90% will be left without a job. Their students record and troll teachers in class. The less said about admin sensitivity about real problems like drug culture within the campus, the better. Most classes are taken by young people with very little idea about how to teach.

Pick it over NUJS, but not over GNLU, NLUJ and NLIU (and that too, if you have more money than average). Those are fine still and are likely to continue to remain okay. Re the student opportunities stuff, the placement numbers at Jindal are pretty weird. You'd have to be really good at studies to get placed there.

Make allies in work place, i know everyone says that in workplace you cant trust people but you have to, to survive and not hate being there. Also try to improve life outside office. Mainstream advice, but you should try to crack jokes, learn to laugh not just at others but even yourself, lighten up a little every now and then.

You can read a book - Breaking the habit of being yourself. Try cutting out junk food for a bit completely and instead consume fruits, cold food items, fresh food items - they matter more than people think on improving our overall wellbeing.

However, being surrounded by dull-a**__les can bring anyone down(Work or home doesn't matter)

Toxic work environment with very very high levels of churn for such a small firm. Intimidation and threats is accepted in the firm and many former colleagues also left crying and on bad terms. Quality of work is not there because clients are all small indian companies friends with the EP mostly and routine template based work only. Lots of DD work. No mentorship and growth is not possible because the firm is very small

We all know how some jealous trolls have used notorious campaigns to downvote NLIU as an institution. But the fact remains, that this is easily amongst the top 5 plus at this point. Apart from an amazing mooting/placement record for the past couple of years, NLIU is the first NLU amongst the tier-1 hierarchy to host a highly competitive uni pool and that too with a collaborative partner of this kind. To reiterate, this is not any propaganda to uplift Nliu, it has its fair share of problems. We don't believe in marketing and that's why certain trolls take us for granted. Well, not anymore! It leads rise to some unique discussion as to how a law firm will be supporting the uni pool and promoting moot culture in its truest sense.

I suggest practicing from free CLAT mocks, which are easily available on Toprankers and Career Launcher's websites to practice for the logic and maths sections. They have time limits, and the questions can be tricky if you haven't practiced them in a while. I was definitely rushing to complete the logical section. English was grammar and some passage-based qs, super simple.

Along with that, going through key concepts in contracts, company law, FEMA, labour laws etc, can be helpful for the legal questions. They were mostly GK-style questions, not very application-based. Mostly general concepts were asked, but some niche questions were there.
