I am an incoming student at a T2 NLU ( can say it is best tier 2 if that's a thing) , I am actually quite anxious, Will I be able to do good in Law .. primarily in Corporate Law , coming from a non law background, will I be able to make connections.....or get job in tier 1 ....I know it all sounds stupid but I am genuinely anxious thinking about all these things. It'll be fine. You will recover and do well going ahead, you can make up for the academic losses. Once you finish law school having done well, no one will close their doors on you. Take care of yourself and give yourself the time you need to be well. All will be okay. I am an alum who has seen many close friends go through this and come out of it with great success.

The fault lies with the students as much as it does with the VC. The students have always supported what the VC decided in exchange for no disciplinary action, easy grades, attendance relaxation, multiple repeat exams and project extensions. They have deliberately ignored multiple financial irregularities, recruitment scams and other things in his regime. You reap what you sow. i work at a smaller firm and although not always reliable, sometimes chat gpt and claude etc really help

i would obviously never put in confidential information into it

but for things like paraphrasing, or sometimes research it is useful

Atleast Trilegal allows you to come back after masters according to whatever policy they have. Which other Indian law firm does this? SAM?AZB? Not sure if even KCO does this.

This is a example for other firms to follow. For example after Trilegal raised the pay for A0 in 2023, all firms followed suit in 2024.

It seems as if another student from an NLU has taken their own life. Why are NLUs becoming such toxic places ? What can the students do ? Is the student body even pushing for mental and emotional help ? Why are we not emphasing on cooperation and collaboration rather than competition ?

I am from a tier 3 NLU and entering my fourth year. I have a great CV and among the top rankers of my batch howsoever I am unable to get T1 internships. Other people in my batch with bad grades, no moots or papers have T1 internships in the coming months which make me feel T1 is a distant dream for those who are not well-connected.

Do T1 firms also hire associates based on such connections and if yes is there even any chance to get a PPO there or get placed for a first gen? I am genuinely concerned.

How was Dr ID appointed as VC when he did not have 10 years of experience as Prof as per UGC norms. Also the advertisement for NLU Meg VC seemed tailor made for ID and interestingly his doctoral supervisor NKC (presently NUJS VC) was part of the search committee.

I am a resident of Delhi but I have been told to get into litigation and having worked in some of the good places I am just not too sure about hardcore civil litigation whereas I want to pursue IPR media and entertainment law. I am not sure how to go about it I have no contacts in that space. I am not sure how to go about it.

I'm more than done of my in-house job (with a bank). It's become overly monotonous and I feel like I'm not learning anything. Have tried changing roles within the company to a relatively better team, but I think it's just time to move on now to better pastures. Request any leads on in-house roles in Delhi. Why did he run to CAM? We may never know the full truth of it of course, but if you think JSA was giving him any autonomy you're mistaken. The JMP-ExCom cabal runs the whole firm, very much like a lala firm. Lateral-ing in as an EP means you will be an outsider for years. In a Lala setup, there is a very simple hierarchy - the bigger your books, the more freedom you have. Iqbal's books will open a lot of doors for him.

This works out to just under a crore per university and that's assuming the numbers cited as expenditure are even correct and comprehensive. DSNLU (like many other tier 4 NLUs) needs that money. Unlike some of the premier NLUs, the afterthought NLUs are all scrounging by on pittances. Is the basic concept of money lost on kids these days? Absurd.

Unless you have a solid (and not delulu) post college plan in place - like masters, or higher education a vac scheme etc., - sit for Day Zero. You can always quit after joining (if you get the job and don't like it). What is important at your stage of life is options. If you are unsure of what to do, try to make these options available for yourself.

I dont understand why you ‘dont understand the non-transparent critique’. A simple reading of the detailed advertisement will reveal in unambiguous terms that the process of calling candidates in for an interview is not supposed to be discretionary and the scheme itself expects meritocracy to be followed, although the contrary has always been the norm. The subjectivities could be evaluated after conducting an interview of the same candidate. This preliminary screening is not based on any metric except for any influence and referrals the successful candidates might have use. I’ve been on the inside, I’ve seen how things work and you cant change my mind.

Congratulations on getting the 2 interviews mate but just because it worked out for you doesnt imply that other people’s criticism of this process isnt justified.

As a Bo30 student going to a T1 NLU, I really hope Intro culture is phased out gradually over time, but I fear it's here to stay - I don't think it adds anything of benefit towards your interactions with others aside from providing a superficial idea of you who are on the basis of which cliques are formed, alongside allowing you to make judgements about others based on preconceived notions without properly giving yourself the chance to ascertain the depth of someone's character. That's not to say it's wrong necessarily or anything else of the sorts, since ultimately it's something people do of their own volition, and those who do opt in seem to be content with their choice, but having it be something which is nigh-obligatory nowadays essentially in order to be able to fit in is something which is increasingly problematic in my opinion.

For your first question. As a Final year student or recently graduated/fresher - you got to push your self to push your own CVs. Reach out to HRs or partners or their dedicated recruiting teams. If you have some sought of connections, tell them to refer you. The first year (after graduation) is always difficult. You can't do anything except hope that some kind-hearted firm provides you the opportunity and willing to take risk in hiring a fresher.

For your second question. I have already stated in the above. And the answer is no. There ain't any platforms.

The decision to unilaterally remove all corporate law electives including crucial commercial law offerings like Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities Law, and Equity,significant electives in international law (e.g., International Commercial Arbitration) or rights-based domains (e.g., Disability Law, Juvenile Justice) and replace them with a narrow selection of criminology-focused electives such as Forensic Sciences, Criminology and Victimology, and Transnational Crime is both pedagogically indefensible and professionally limiting. These changes appear to reflect the personal academic interests of NKC rather than the academic and career needs of a diverse student body.

The implicit assumption that all students would benefit from, or are interested in, what is effectively a criminology-centric curriculum is as absurd as it is exclusionary. It fundamentally disregards the academic and professional aspirations of students who wish to pursue careers in corporate law, litigation, arbitration, or international law.

Equally alarming is the reported violation of BCI rules through the removal of mandatory Clinical Courses such as Professional Ethics and Professional Accounting System. The introduction of non-mandatory courses like Indirect Tax in their place contradicts BCI mandates.
