A while back, the disability activists got very angry because an enrolment form for SAU (one of those forms you fill up as part of the formalities for joining the uni, once your admission is confirmed) asked the incoming students to sign a declaration saying that they had no physical or mental disabilities. Thanks for the advice. Yes, I wrote it myself. The problem is not my understanding or expressing the language in writing but me not being able to express myself verbally in the best way possible. I often go blank and that blankness itself gets prolonged because my mind isn't trying to find the correct word but is actively thinking about how the next person is going to judge me.

I am currently in my 4th year of law school, really struggling to make any progress with getting myself placed in this bleak market. Given how the hiring market is, my limited options now appear to be restricted to Disputes teams.

However, working in Disputes has always scared me. I like the work, but am anxious that I would be losing out on whatever little time I have to myself. I am not a party goer, but I would like some time off to prepare for higher studies or a future career transition.

i know exactly which moot you're talking about. it's ▮▮▮. i was there last year, it's ▮▮▮. they charged 7000 per team and had 121 regs out of which 24 advanced to oral rounds on campus. the organisation was SO BAD, the rounds did not start on time, THEY DID NOT EVEN GIVE US FOOD, we had to eat the mess food. EVEN WORSE, they made us check out of the hotel ON THE DAY OF THE SEMI FINALS/FINALS, we literally had to pack our bags and leave the hotel in between the rounds.

Former student of JGLS. He travels abroad frequently, mainly to promote how global the university is (many times with his family and the usual bunch). He tends to focus on people who have influence or can help him with certain things. Because of that, students and alumni don’t get much attention as seems to be the case with you. Someone I know (from a different uni law school) worked in his office for a short time and said the environment there was quite disorganized and stressful. So if you want a response from him, you need to send more than one email.

Usually, his "chief of staff" manages the inbox. Some messages get ignored or deleted, especially when they involve accountability. You can still try sending reminders. You can try your luck with these emails- crk@jgu.edu.in and vc@jgu.edu.in. A few of my batchmates got replies, but only after multiple reminders.

Can be a good course except that University seems to be getting more greedy than responsible atleast with respect to this course. And absolutely zero accoutability and unprofessional treatment towards students of the course. Random change of schedules, no beforehand clarity of schedules, some of the courses having very bad profs, 2 plus months for declaring results of MCQ exams and now they even cancel MCQ exam after two months of conducting it because they cant even manage to proctor it adequately and maintain integrity.

Well it does not really make you reflect about your anonymity here since it's a bit extreme of a case.

So the things you've mentioned here are really easy to dissect but the problem is in taking advice in itself since people usually pay for advice why would you go to an anonymous site of all places to get it instead of reaching out to people in that profession? If you want advice you're the one who should be reaching out for it and not just putting your post there expecting others to find and answer it

Even if you do reach out to those people the advice would still be biased and even if you have the analytical skills to get objective data there are many conflicting things not related to you that will affect you( how the people in your life perceive the job)

You're either gonna judge these colleges based on 2 major situations those being:

A- you know what you wanna do in/after law school

B- you do not know that and want subscription to maximum possible opportunities

Now a lot of seniors/graduates appeal to the latter option here and i believe that's a bit lazy of a reasoning since that logic does work on choosing your 10+2 stream but in this context you're gonna go into the same profession more or less via any of these unis

So the major advantages apart from each of their locational advantages afaik are

Cons: Fee, Trimester system

NLUD: SC Proximity, UPSC/Judiciary culture,

Cons:

NALSAR: Fee, highest placement%, campus

Cons: lack of connectivity from the main city from what I've heard atleast

So in short if you want to pursue:

Placements or Low fees: NALSAR

Upsc/judiciary culture or/Litigation:NLUD

L.L.M. abroad: NLSIU

I can't really think any other practical basis for making a choice tbh except for each of their locations of course

The PA in my team was one such associate who went on to become a PA and made our lives a lot better. Often shielding us from the Partner. The SA on the other hand continued the generational trauma, threw us under the bus all the time and did all those things listed in this post.

Happened with me too. I was in the office for the whole day and didn't have too much work apart from some small thing. Othwerwise, I asked the SA and the partner if they would want me to assist them on any matter to which they told me that there's nothing for now. I left the office at 7.30PM. At 9 PM, the partner texted me and told me like 3 things to do, which were required to be completed on the same night. PS - This was a friday night and also, this was not the first time it happend, he just wanted me to stay in office after 7 even if my work has ended and keep asking other people for more work till 9-10. If still no one gives me any work, then i can leave or if anyone ends up giving me work, then keep doing it till 2-3 AM.

I had been preparing for judicial services and law officer exams but now with the 3 year practice requirement and limited vacancies for law officers, I have been trying to switch to a corporate law firm role. Have the rules of grammar changed much since the publication of Wren & Martin? I agree that merely using a book like that is not going to improve one's vocabulary but it is still largely indispensable for having a solid understanding of the rules of English grammar. Intuition regarding grammar which is gained through exposure to English is good but it is no substitute for actually understanding the rules of grammar.

IVth Year student from NLS here, I'm sure students across batches can feel the frustration and helplessness at the way our Messiah's "Master Plan" for re-development is being implemented on Campus. What started as periodic banging and clanging has now amplified to a crass cacophony of incessant drilling, banging, and unloading that too right from morning classes scheduled for 9:00 AM. The administration has forced us to normalise these noises around us that seriously impact concentrating and understanding what is being taught in class. At times, the drilling gets so loud that the Professors need to pause and start teaching in installments. They do not spare suspending construction activities even during our mid/end term examinations which is the least we expect them to do. I'd have appended footage of the noise we experience had there been an option, but yeah. This has been going on for three continuous trimesters now (each new trimester heralding a substantial increment in NOISE POLLUTION levels) and I sincerely hope that some compromise can be worked out before driving all of us here mad!!!!!!!!

The Univ admin will always prefer opacity. Full disclosure of EC, AC etc minutes and agenda notes was a hard won victory by the SJA during Talukdar regime. And then for unstated reasons successive SJA brass decided to go all servile. It certainly helped personal and pecuniary agendas across the board. Goodness knows what the ever smiling and agreeable leader will do this time.

I'm in a T1 Tax Law firm for the past 3 years. I've spent an extensive amount of time right from law school till now to specialise in IDT. I'm now considering to switch to general litigation because of the lack of mobility within tax practising law firms. I understand that general litigation would give me a diverse workload along with the unending opportunities between firms.

I do love tax, I enjoy it thoroughly, I'm just considering switching because of the lack of mobility amongst tax law firms. Seeking advice if switching to general lit is a good decision or sticking it in tax litigation because of the opportunities forming owing to GSTAT.

I didn't really have this problem with English, because I grew up in an environment where it was regularly used. However, I feel that this advice would work, because this is exactly what I employed for French, which is a language I need for my specific professional purposes, and I went from someone who couldn't speak a word of French back in 2019, to someone who can comfortably converse with anyone in French on most topics today.

There are scholars in NLS who work on urban studies, public policy, gender, caste and religion. All of them are exemplary scholars. Under a different ruling dispensation, they should have been teaching in JNU or other similarly placed universities. Anyway, the point being that NLS is an excellent University at the current moment to pursue PhD in Social Sciences, especially Political Science. Also, look into different IITs, especially Bombay, Delhi, and Madras.

Whereas if someone gets a job because of his/her connections, it's ok. I mean, technically both are unfair advantages, but the one who's good looking will almost always get more hate than the one who's resourceful and well connected. Why do we like sh*tting on good looking people so much? It's not like all good-looking people sleep with their bosses to get their job. They may just be favoured over other plain-looking candidates.
