We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Menon convinced Bar Council of India & Karnataka Govt. Raj convinced Naveen Jindal and Haryana Govt 😀😀
NUJS people defending this course: just wait until the first batch graduates and their placements data is lumped with that of the BALLB batch during NIRF data submission. Reality will hit you.
Actually, what I find more common is people covering up if their partner is from a lower caste and got admitted through reservation.
As far as choosing one of these two goes, NLS. The rigour of their academics will help and a larger batch size might mean you have more options to date (unless 70% are all guys again) and make new friends and won’t be suffocated by the same boring people for 5 years where there’s no chance to build new relationships.
And honestly, NALSAR is not better, the whole top 2 rivalry thing is not much better, and it’s location means you can’t even get away from the place easily to take a break or go home.
No jobs and admin doesn’t care after taking hefty fees.
That man only takes US trips and doesn’t care about what is going on in his college. Arbitrary academic policies, unsanitable living conditions for students (with basic facilities like clean drinking water not being provided), inefficient and rude/egoistic exam office, rampant physical and sexual violence on campus (if you have contacts, you can get away), no common spaces for students, unaccountable registrar, overcrowded campus with students beyond capacity, regular flouting of regulatory/government norms, etc etc
When you have a man heading this, i leave it to your judgement if he should really feature on that list.
I was a bit surprised to hear him mention the name of a good NLU since I'd distantly known of her and remembered her going to a not so good private uni. The girlfriend seems like a very nice person and has done well for herself professionally (at another law firm) inspite of the real challenge she may have faced due to her college tag. We're not freshers either, a few years into the profession and cognizant that college name doesn't mean much after a point.
Have any of you experienced anything like this? Why are people like this?
The VC is just sitting and looking at the pathetic affairs. Meritorious students who are trying to study hard are being demotivated since all the students end up getting average marks whereby merit is just lost and trust in the institution is gradually vanishing.
PS- I am talking about Tier-1 NLU
I know of one senior who concerted Vac Scheme into TC and whose rank was in 40s when he got Vac Scheme.
Thanks

Prof Endicott (Oxford), Prof Wilkins (Harvard Law), and Prof O’Reagan (retd South African Constituonal Court judge).
Your best shot at being chosen for a vac scheme from a tier two nlu is to have a cv that is genuinely impressive, and unfortunately the rank factor seems to be bit of an issue
BC tax lene mai to ek mauka nahi chhodegi government, wo to har mahine ka katega lekin ek kaam aapke khud ke paise se karne ki naubat aayi to 2 saal wait karo. I dont even know what all this nonsensical economic growth talk is when this entire country is in utter and complete chaos. I would say India is definitely one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Are firms recruiting 3yr and 5yr students similarly.
Or they just took 5yr students.
Please tell if anyone has idea.
I'll be graduating in 2024. Based on my past experience in internships, I'm more inclined to a career as an in house counsel as opposed to working in a law firm. Any advice on how hard it is to start a career as an in-house counsel as a fresher, growth opportunities etc? Also is it easy to switch practice areas once you've worked for a particular company for a few years or are you restricted to the industry of the company for which you've worked for?

Note: if I am able to secure decent internships.
Others depend on publicity stunts.
Solid Tier 2s - Bharucha, Argus, DSK, Samvad, Veritas and SNG.
Solid Boutiques - Touchstone, Resolut, Anagram, Finsec and Rajani.
Has NLUD overtaken NALSAR in terms of placements and PPOs? No. Both are largely based on alumni reputation and history at the top law firms and NLUD doesn't have the same depth of alumni as NALSAR does for obvious reasons. Plus, NLUD has had smaller batches than NALSAR till 2020. But the way NALSAR folks make it sound is as if you can only get a job at NALSAR and NLUD has zero placements. That's just desperately false and anyone who's been at NLUD knows there are near equal opportunities.
In terms of LLMs, the disparity is not much. NLUD is not really ahead but they're not behind by much either considering the smaller batch sizes at NLUD till 2020.
Depends on your area of preference. Say you like insolvency law, you’ll be expected to know the basics and recent updates/amendments ( very imp ones). For instance, are home buyers financial creditors, are share warrants financial debts, if no why? etc. And expect questions based on entries in your CV ( in case you’ve mentioned the work you had done during your internships). Download the AIBE books (available online) for the basics of laws such as contract law, CPC etc ( only prepare for topics that you expect to be questioned on during the interview. Eg if you’re into disputes , you will have to study CPC, contracts law, Arbitration law etc)
And you can also find primers available online ( for insolvency , arbitration etc). Just google “……. Primer online pdf”.
All the best. And one more important thing, maintain your calm and be confident during the interview. You’re not expected to know everything. But the way you articulate the things you know is important.
So the best of luck to you.
Some thoughts of mine
1) Not much keen on putting NLS as first,as idts I will be able to handle the academic rigor of that place
+ 240-300 seats is gonna lead to a bit of decline in batch quality like it used to be when the batch was 80-120,also more competition too.
2) NALSAR I like, the campus is way too beautiful but it is the middle of nowhere and 40 kms away from Hyderabad.
So which one shall I fill as my first preference?
Edit:- Plz don't ask for my college's name 😭
I don't want to reveal it for anonymity reasons
2. R should not have censored the name of the firm. There is zero reason to. They behaved like jackasses, they ought to be called out for it.
Virtual internships are valid. Only the BCI needs to mend it's views
have heard about it from the grapevine but have not been able to check it out myself
Placement season is coming up. Any summarized material, question bank, and tips would be greatly appreciated.
Once you become a VC you can't apply for VC position elsewhere till your term is over.
If you are not convinced about your present NLU, don't join in the first place. Imagine FM resigning CNLU for Mumbai in 1 year or Nagraj again resigning in 2 years for a position in south. What a loss to public exchequer and students it will be.

Prof Shanta at GNLU is good VC too. Can be part of this list.
Menon, Mitra, Ranbir Singh remain all time favourite.
Do i even have a chance applying as an avg student or should I just build my CV towards domestic placements
Till how long these gimmicks will continue?
Do students realise that everytime we can’t be victims of this and we need to act.
Admin doesn’t gives any heeds students concern before imposing policies. How long?
Few reasons:
1. LLM students are treated very well. Senior Professors are reserved who teach only LLM students.
2. Jindal experience (international conferences, good food, laundry, very nice facilities)
3. Not much expensive. Tuition fee of 350000 or 175000 per semester is lowest in all Jindal programs. Scholarships can further reduce.
