We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Not only that, he wants the exam in regional languages too. So basically whatever little money NLUs make from CLAT exam fees will now go to the BCI. Plus, you will potentially have people who crack the exam in Hindi with zero knowledge of English studying alongside those who crack the CLAT in English, reading the likes of Dworkin, Holmes, Salmond etc. 🙄
This is the problem with populism, anti-meritocracy and anti-elitism. We are headed towards disaster. Not everything should be mass and crass. The DM says that Hinduism and Sanatana Dharma are like dengue and should be eradicated. No honey, it's wokeism that is the real dengue.
https://www.barandbench.com/news/bci-offers-to-hold-clat-no-student-deprived-lack-of-english-proficiency
and it changed me alot....I'm his fan that doesn't mean ki..I agree with him completely
And since you mentioned Nirma, I assume you have moolah for the same. My suggestion - if you are from Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad, it would be good choice to go for Nirma considering the investments which might be restricted to tuition fee and similar charges. (I don't know whether hostels are compulsory; have heard that you have arrange on your own for accomodation).
Just be mindful of this, law predominantly is not a very remunerative profession in the initial stages (unless you go for corporate law firms). So invest your money after due deliberation.
9th Sem m enter to kar fir sochna kahi fail ho gya to 2026 ki jageh 2027 ho jaye ga 🤣
"Some say that there was no diversity in the hirings, creating a liberal and left echo chamber over time. "
"An Ashoka insider alluded to subtle practices employed to exclude right-wing academics."
This is nothing but woke intolerance. Fringe and dangerous far-left ideology is prioritised. JNU and Jadavpur have become a dump for this reason. There is actually graffiti glorifying Stalin and Mao on the JNU campus.
Can anyone advise on changing out of a law firm job to something sustainable but which is not an in-house role? I have already started applying for in-house roles but I am sure in-house jobs are just as demanding or maybe slightly less than law firms today. Looking out for options desperately because I'm hanging by a thread and if I do not fix things now, I see no hope for my life.
Please could you provide some hint as to the location of the firm/ Partner?
I would love to join your team in a jiffy, as compared to where I am (a horrendous team at a T2/T3). Please please appreciate and value where you are. Having a decent team, with great colleagues at a T1 sounds too good to be true but if what you have said is even remotely true, you are very lucky and please do not take it for granted.
Learning hote rahega, and imo, do not switch right now. Uske liye time hain abhi.
For example, there was a post about a case of rape in ▮▮▮. As someone who personally knows the victim, the accused, and the events that had transpired, let me tell you, proper procedure was followed and the accused was acquitted at the end of the trial. They were dating and the girl had gone into the Men's hostel of her own volition. They got physical in one of their friend's rooms after which the girl left. The girl later regretted it and filed a false Sexual harassment case against the guy. Proper hearing and investigation had taken place as per the SHARIC which is the sexual harassment code and the girl had admitted to filing a fake case during the trial.
Whenever something like this happens, sympathies and support pour in for the girl. However, even after facing the complete process and being acquitted of the charges, a guy will continue to be a convict in the eyes of others. No one will talk about the amount of mental trauma which the guy had to go through, whose parents stopped talking to him, he had to move out of the hostel and unfortunately had to suffer a year loss.
All I am saying is, don't post anything and everything. I agree with the biases that some profs or people have against the victim. However, that should not be a reason to support people who file fake cases and actively try to ruin a life.
So for this semester, October and November are the only months left so I think two moots are the maximum, but for next year, the semester will be from January to May, so can one do five moots in that time? Thanks
The rest will come to you as you grow. Be ambitious by all means. Be patient too.
Are you sure you are as good a lawyer you claim to be? Because this is quite basic and even a law firm person knows this, and I understand that you believe law firm people are incompetent and under-performers.
You think maybe youngsters today demand more because they know their right and their worth so they won't go without a fight and maybe that makes oldies like you angry because you couldn't do the same? So instead of being happy for them, you just put them down because you are a sadist person?
And you think maybe you believe that just because you had a hard time (whatever is your definition of a hard time is) and you chose not to join a law firm (even though you could, and nobody would stop you) everyone should follow your footsteps and look upto you as some saviour of humanity even if you have no major contribution in their lives except for putting them down?
What is the core issue?
And if anything, we stand in support of the survivors!

Every single profession has a learning curve which often involves training on ground, observing how seniors work, learning from their mistakes and being given the time to adjust with the new team/boss. But somehow law firms miss out on all these and specially the training on ground aspect completely and believe that making juniors attend 100s of knowledge management lectures or conducting week-long induction session will automatically turn law students into experienced lawyers when we all know the limited practical experience that law students from both NLU and non-NLUs have. Yet the juniors are subjected to continuous ridicule, bullying and constantly made to feel like they are worthless in a profession where one literally learns while working.
If an A0 was unlucky to be in a team that didn't bother to train them or treated them in a horrible manner, then they will leave the team without gaining actual professional/ practical knowledge however their theoretical knowledge is still good enough to get them another job. So, while they move on to another law firm, their lack of professional/ practical experience follow them attracting labels like "non-performing asset", "liability" and being subjected to similar horrors and ridicule all over again.
Unlike other professions, law firms don't have a real HR department, a proper feedback system or training accountability which makes it very easy for people of a certain seniority to get away with anything because they know at the end of the day they will just say that the junior is bad at their job and avoid training them. Not like there's an HR department to hold them accountable and none of the members of the management will bother because they have probably done the same thing.
Don't like a junior's existence and want to make them quit? Just say non-performing asset and stop giving them work. A client or a friend wants their relative to get a job in your team- fire an existing junior with no contacts to accommodate this new junior by citing non-performance. Did a junior disagree with you, a senior or a partner on something? Say the junior is a non-performing asset, has bad attitude and force them to quit. Want to promote that one junior who sucks up to the partner/ senior over another who prefers to just work quietly and go home? Don't promote them by citing poor performance and lack of leadership. Don't want to pay the bonus amount promised? Don't say anything the whole year but on the week before the bonus payment just say that their performance wasn't upto the mark and pay them peanuts. Not doing enough business and need to reduce your team size without letting the world know you don't have enough business? Cite poor performance of associates and fire them. That's how easy it is.
But ofcourse these are private entities who are not answerable to anybody. Law students join these firms voluntarily knowing about their horrible work culture. But the least one can do is acknowledge that these things are more likely to happen to a junior and not go out of your way to protect the seniors and partners by blaming the junior. If it didn't happen to you and a team has been nice to you then don't just assume that it didn't happen to another junior. These seniors and partners have enough mechanism to protect themselves without you going out of your way to take their side. Partners at that level have nothing to lose professionally or personally but the junior can easily lose a lot.

Most of our demands were met, and our methods were successful. We aren't going to back down, rant about it as much you want on anonymous forums.
Signed, GH resident batch of 2028.
Many thanks.
Please share more insights and about yourself if you have some time this weekend.
JSA- they have an elaborate process of 5 assignments and GD, if you are good enough at writing basic research papers, you should get selected. Getting a PPO is a different ball game though. (verified by personal experience)
L&L, Saraf- I don't understand how they are taking interns, because neither are they approaching PCs nor accepting personal applications. Only high level contacts seem to work. But again why would someone willingly work at these dying shops. (verified)
S&R, TT&A, NDA- these are super selective. Ive heard that S&R only takes 1 intern per NLU (not verified)
But enjoy whatever you get. There are only very few workplaces left (especially in the legal field) where an individual can really go on working in an innovative manner, without much deadline pressure, and in guidance of extremely talented bunch of people who are also otherwise very polite. And Vidhi is one of such places. In short, you will love this place if you don't like the hustle and work environment in law firms/law chambers.

Earlier it was just family relatives. Who would indirectly (sometimes even directly) show disrespect/insult for what i was wearing.
Now I am litigating in district court. I dont get paid much (between 5-7K per month and even from that I pay for fuel, emergency spends and all) . I have been using a fastrack watch of ₹1299 for 5 years now.
Once I was waiting in court for my turn. I heard 2 other advocates of similar age giggle at me and say "saala bada nahi hua hai ? Iske paas ghadi khareedne ka bhi paisa nahi h". One of these two advocates is a son of a famous advocate here and he is 2022 graduate (I am 2020 graduate). Other advocate was his friend.
Its true I really cant afford anything . My laptop is bad for more than 1 year now. I am just trying to get by and work as much as possible so that one day I can purchase what I have been waiting for since childhood.
And aapke paas paise nai honge aur weak family se aayenge toh aapko sab aur exploit hi krte hain be it law firm aur chamber. Because they now know ur weakness and that u have no option left in life.
So, it is everywhere sir.
Duniya ko aapke paise , ghar , gaadi se matlab hai bas.
Covid ke baad internet liya hai... now I am shocked and helpless..
Koi guidance nai thi ...
Even utne paise b nai the coaching ya nlu or symbiosis ki fees dene k
