Airport buses are finally becoming popular even among immigrants. I have been using buses since I was 13 years old and they're safe, cheap, and have great connectivity
With introduction of Namma BMTC app, tracking buses and planning your travel has also become very easy
@ other GNLU people reading this, circulate this post around and ensure that it isn't swept under the rug especially in the light of other similar events that have recently happened. Harassment of this kind needs to be exposed and held accountable, it is our responsibility as students to ensure this. This university and its entire community has been such a disappointment. Only way to fix what's wrong is by publicizing everything that's wrong and has been given a pass. As stakeholders we need to ensure that it's a safe place for all.
Why is there so much hype about being a transgender? or for that matter, "identifying" as someone? isn't this intrinsically wrong.
I empathise with those transgenders and pray to them like god, those who are born like this, but the others getting surgery and changing themselves into something they re biologically not? for clout? to be different? and imposing it on others?
How can you identify as something you are biologically not? if you are born with specific choromosoms and want to just dress up and become someone else? Isn't that like a "disease", falling under the definition of "symptoms" of disease, because you kind of hate your body. that's body dysmorphia. That's like saying that I hate my heart, so I am gonna change it with another heart?
ALSO, WHY ARE YOU IMPOSING IT ON OTHERS FACES. It's you who needs medication, proper parenting and therapy. Please stop teaching young children that.
Thanking you
What do you even mean by this lmao
In addition, every new faculty must be made to go through at least a few demo classes before students as well as existing faculty before they are allowed to teach unsupervised in the degree programmes. That would at least act as a filter for the worst sort, who cannot even communicate effectively or do not have the slightest of ideas about the subjects that they would be asked to teach. A mentorship system should also be in place wherein the faculty with better repute can be shadowed by the junior for at least a semester or two when it comes to classroom teaching or research. Professor Menon himself used to advocate for such a system, but that is barely in vogue anymore.
Finally, the students also need to get their acts together if they wish to be taught by good faculty. Academic discipline must be followed, especially if they see the faculty making effort to teach them well. Refraining from umpteen excuses for not doing assignments, seeking extensions and exemptions, easy grades, lack of advance reading, and providing useful and timely feedback and putting pressure on the administration to act on the basis of such feedback, these are practices that the students may also consider adopting if they really wish to have the quality of their classroom education enhanced. Just because a faculty is not giving in to every student demand, that does not mean that they do not know what the students actually need. Adherence to quality and empathy are both essential traits of a good teacher.
Hahaha
The sobering thought here is that not everyone here has a daddy in the profession even if they come from a privileged bg. Also what I have personally come to believe over my law school is that the cake is big enough. No matter how much one hoards, the cake is sufficiently big to feed most. Its just that some get there sooner than later.
Also whoever put that reply up there, not sure how disclosing the name of any firm with preferable work-life (or in my case one that supports the commitments I have towards my family) would help state-unis. I did most of what @NLU grad had mentioned in the previous thread and even then I consider myself lucky to have witnessed things work out.
Can't give out the name of the firm because I would dox myself. Its a very small team. But for starters, its based out Delhi NCR, has an ex-Khaitan as the partner, is a boutique firm and started a couple of months ago. Cheers!
Choose violence. Ruin lives. Be gay. Do crimes.
Tick tock
Unwelcoming people are everywhere, South Indians are unwelcome in the north and guess you would find it unwelcoming in the south. The way people look down at you if you mispronounce a Hindi word in the north (I would know, studied in the north) is ridiculous when they don't even bother learning South Indian languages
For those who may not be able to access the post later: http://archive.today/FBPGI
The data shows that NLU Delhi far surpasses the other NLUs (including NLS) by a margin so large that the other figures are laughable. Important to note is that there will be a presumption that those who did not submit NIRF data did not have much to show (as is mentioned in the article as well).
The section says, Nothing in this section shall be deemed to authorize any mortgagee OTHER THAN.
READ THE OTHER THAN PART
You can easily use your old personal laptop at least for the first 3 years into the profession, by when you would learn time management better and start getting some free time to start using your personal laptop for recreation.
P.S. I'm talking about corporate lawyers.
First of all, you have got some serious comprehension issues. You keep harping on the point that according to me, Assistant Professors cannot get paid as much as 1.2 L per month, when I said nothing of the sort. I can name 50 APs across the NLUs who are being paid that or more. AP is not a homogeneous category, genius! You get paid more based on your academic work experience. The 80-85K (depending on city-based HRA) is for FRESHER APs without any academic experience whatsoever, or someone who joins a new fresher post without pay protection from an earlier post. Both the people whom you mentioned were not freshers, and if you could not figure that out, then I feel sorry for the clients who would in future have the misfortune to rely upon you.
Secondly, no public law university can pay out of turn to a full-time teacher even if they want to. That's a financial irregularity that their FC would not sanction, and other faculty who have reached their pay scale via the UGC CAS promotion route would protest and successfully challenge the decision before any court of law. The only way to get a relatively junior faculty a higher pay scale is to absorb them in an open-contest higher position. By promotion, an Assistant Professor can make Associate only after 13 years (12 in case of an early PhD), which does not depend on whether university has such a position vacant. By open selection, they can make Associate only after 8 years or Professor after 10 years, provided the university has a vacancy (that too, they will have to satisfy the eligibility requirements of such posts). NLS is not your or Sudhir's ancestral property that these rules can be broken with impunity, especially when the money actually comes from the students and the university also accepts state government funds and hence amenable to audit. Jindal on the other hand can pay whomever whatever they want, because they are private, don't accept government funds and have got IOE status. They can even pay different salaries to two faculty with exactly identical designation without an Article 14 writ being filed against them. NLS cannot do that either.
You should improve your knowledge instead of relying on hearsay and then come opining on matters like this. You seem to be a student who doesn't really have a clue, so it's useless engaging with you any further. By the way, AT was not being paid as much by NLS as by Jindal. He was getting more than what an AP in his position should have been paid, but that was because he was charged with additional admin responsibilities at NLS over and above his duties as AP. Clearly, you don't know that either. I won't get into a debate about the ethical issues involved there, since if neither NLS nor Jindal had any problem with the arrangement, I don't see what concern it is of anybody else.
First of all it’s commendable that inspite of such odds, you haven’t given up and you are still trying.
Let me tell you the biggest hurdle you will face to get a job/ even once you get a job - culture fit. This is a vague word used in the industry to gatekeep certain opportunities from people without contacts. Because even once you get into a firm, it’s not just about doing the job diligently - a lot of it is about how you get along with people in the firm, and this isn’t just about being humble or curious to learn, this also means being able to talk about your favourite soccer club, your favourite restaurant, your favourite trip - things which will easier for your peers because they have had a relatively elite upbringing and shared experience in law schools.
Even for you to do the job well - you will have to learn from someone. Since law firms have huge amount of work, and people are pressed for time, you will need a mentor who will lookout for you. Again, for the person to be your mentor and like, a lot will depend on how you get along with them, and this will depend on the above mentioned things.
Sure, not all law firm teams are like this. There are teams which have people from humble upbringing so they understand the struggle. But whether you land up in such a team will depend on your luck.
All the best!
So this is actually a query that will ring the bell for many people on this platform. There are now significantly less opportunities for freshers in the market, including the legal profession. Be it corporate, litigation, consulting, in-house and others, all of it majorly require a person to have prior experience for exploring job options.
What then is left with freshers mostly is to do internships even after graduation. Which isn't bad, but consider a person doing internships for 8 months to one year after graduation. Now whether these internships will actually hold value in future employment opportunities considering they are not counted as PQE?
I am of the opinion that, reputed internships where a person would be able to reflect in CV that he/she gained experience, does create a favourable situation for a candidate in scenarios where an employer highlights more than 1 year PQE as a prerequisite to apply.
But this is becoming very whimsical. Any thoughts?
This is the most common couple at JGLS. Like a KJO movie.
It's a complete misuse of IP law in the style of greedy corporations. The court should throw out this lawsuit with costs. I'm also disappointed that an NLSIU alum (Abhishek Malhotra) is representing HOB. He should have advised them not to sue. That would be the proper and ethical advice.
"I've stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because I think @HumansOfBombay shares important stories, even if they've monetized far past anything I'd feel comfortable doing on HONY. But you can't be suing people for what I've forgiven you for."

"Pathetic - literally a plagiariser, suing someone for plagiarism, claiming their plagiarism is justified because it’s pseudo artistic/high-brow. Plagiarism is theft & you’re a common thief - nothing more, nothing less."

Alternatively, what all firms provide laptops to their A0s.
Alternatively*2, is it suggested to buy a new fancy laptop in the final year of your law school, or get the old one repaired and try to use it for next one year.
But in looting clients by overbilling and and giving wrong advice so that litigation never end's and client is getting forever billed its topmost Tier 1.
Being trans, your case is obviously different since it's a gender identity matter. You'll have a very tough time getting in anywhere because client facing roles demand a heterogeneous, conforming attorney base and no EP will risk client "discomfort". I am putting these in plain words so you can effectively assess your plans.
You may perhaps speak to a headhunter or two to see if they can shop around your profile to firms to see if someone proactively takes you up.
Mark my words, even with the easier moot problem that was used this year, you will find those same folks go for international trips!!
When I know for sure that I won't be able to spend 1lakh for a moot, there is no incentive for me to work hard for the univ rounds or even participate in it!
"Nothing in this section shall be deemed(a) to authorize ... a usufructuary mortgagee as such
.. to institute a suit for sale"
Also, maybe revisit 58 and the definition of usufructuary mortgage.
JGLS however can let you become a full professor without a phd and pay you much more- nls will insist you do your phd and you meet UGC criteria. Thats the only reason you will see the difference.
- weather (seriously)
- generally nice and helpful crowd
- people don't get aggressive, petty or catty quickly
- half-decent metro connectivity now
- great South Indian food and world cuisines (bad North Indian though, compared to North India)
- great pubs and bars
- cosmopolitan culture
"Nothing in this section shall be deemed-
(a) to authorize any mortgagee other than a mortgagee by conditional sale or a mortgagee under an anomalous mortgage by the terms of which he is entitled to foreclose, to institute a suit for foreclosure, or a usufructuary mortgagee as such or a mortgagee by conditional sale as such to institute a suit for sale; ".
