We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Btw again i have one question, what about dating apps!?
I am gay so unlike straight people, i dont have unlimited choices in dating. I have to go online to meet people of my kind. How should one go about it !? How should dating apps be handled so that they dont become an addiction.I have found myself being hooked to grindr.
I also think there are deeper issues with my phone addiction i dont know.
But there will be a huge ratio of nerdy folks as well who will talk with you. Basically a lot of people are Sapiosexual there
Do they get their choice of friends as well? Do girls usually avoid this kind of folks in Jindal?
This stuff is triggering for trans and queer people. Its akin to normalising hate, bigotry and violence which ultimately leads to physical assault.
They are very radicalized (both on the left and right spectrum).
It's not the first generation that's grown with idealism, every generation looked a lot more progressive at their time.
All those who keep crying about work culture won't work in chambers or law firms for long, choosing Policy or NGO work and those who do will turn out exactly same. So, no the culture will remain same.
Such kind of behaviour may also be possible in Law Firms.
I m curious to know their psychology behind this bad pitiable habit.
At least on paper
Pay commission is about the minimum you have to pay- not the maximum you can.
I wonder why you think your guesswork is more true than the money in my bank account.
There's no point arguing with those fighting for relevance and attention in a thread which has nothing to do with them.
Your comments reveal more about NLUD than any survey ever will. Also, kind of sad that your whole personality revolves around cracking an entrance test, haven't really done much afterwards or what?
its only the men who are sucking up to an anonymous account saying PA MALE AT TIER 1, or making comments on successful women "she slept with the partner" "women are not smart, because most CEOs are men, but let me be blind to the fact that women were repressed actively and silenced in all industries for ages"
Can you read my reasoning and understand your fallacy?
But I don't know if students at NUS benefit because the classroom time with the star professors is low. For this reason, I would still recommend the traditional Indian destinations for LLMs (Oxbridge, London, Warwick, NYU, Columbia etc), as well as Australian, Canadian and European colleges (many European colleges now offer courses in English). For example, a SOAS or a Warwick or a Monash or a Frankfurt may be lower ranked than NUS, but I think the student will have a better experience from the perspective of classroom teaching.
Just my view. Not trying to get into a QS rankings fight 🙏
in the 90s and early 21st century, women were very actively discriminated and not allowed to pursue careers in such professions, but it was virtually nil in the 80s and 70s, when great giants like Salve and the others had their practice. Ask Zia, she will tell you that she was the only woman in the bar at the time, and maybe Rebecca John.
Judges used to literally tell women lawyers to call their husbands for hearings (Zia interview). Young women were never preferred by clients. RJ and Zia are highly privileged and come from rich backgrounds and therefore had the connects. Imagine the numerous numerous other women, who were discouraged and discounted at every step. Why not ask your mother?
I mean its not really that good even today, but now women recognise how fragile and cheap men are, and only put a farce of strength and masculinity and talent, when a woman can also do the work in half the time. Women now know that the "bro club" isn't some exclusive elite club, but only men who are safeguarding the top money positions for themselves. Well efficiency won, and more and more women are becoming CEOs, and very successful ones, turning flop companies around.
Conclusion- Learnings for you sir.
1. Just because it is an anonymous site, dont write trollish shit. Please research the history and women repression throughout decades and then look at statistics. For example-
Women not allowed to practice due to - childbirth/ husband/ judges/ bro culture/ ego--- Very few women top lawyers
Women not allowed to even entry levels in the 70s in industries, during the boom--- not many woman CEOs (which take that much time)
Women not passed down generational wealth/ property/ business like men--- women not inheriting businesses and becoming the adanis and Ambanis of the age.
I want you to read the following link too, to understand that while business works on credit and leverage- https://www.forbes.com/advisor/credit-cards/when-could-women-get-credit-cards/- AS LATE AS 1974, this was the time huge business men took large loans and made big business, and women weren't allowed a credit card???!!!, will you still say "no excuse" when it was the LAW TO PREVENT WOMEN?
2. I understand you want male validation from your fragile and egoistic bros to survive in this patriarchal world of capitalism that is teaching the men to sideline women only to their own detriment and failure of men themselves (middle class men). For ex. abortion banned- women forced to keep baby even in bad economic conditions- men have to pay child support compulsorily- take loans- debt debt debt. But I want you to look at your mom and talk to her once, and understand her perspective.
I want you to recognise that the statistics like "90% CEO's are men" are multidimensional, there is a dark story behind it, of oppression, of sexual assault, of oppressive laws, of rich men trampling women around them because only women can see the reality behind these fragile men and also point it out. Ofcourse the establishment wants men to avoid women so they there isn't anyone to tell them that the capitalistic world is there to squeeze all their rights. Trust me, women can see right through it.
It's like saying, "UK is more successful than India" while ignoring the history of India itself. Please introspect. Im not asking you to become a feminist nor do I care, but want you to recognise this.
Just look at how toxic the preceding generation (Gen Y) is. Brought up on patriarchal Bollywood movies, homophobic and transphobic shows like Friends, evil books like Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead, and supporters of right-wing politicians and tech bros.
Gen Z and Gen Alpha are humanity's best hope, but I worry that it may be too late before they are in charge.
Just because bernie sanders said something doesnt make it true.
Where is the proof that genz is less racist ? these are the same people that on dating apps will not swipe on asian men and black women? Surely its not boomers on these apps no? Where is the proof that they are less sexist? the same people who will hunt down any middle aged woman and call her a karen and bully her on social media because she wanted someone else to follow the rules? the kids on college campuses who assault, sexually harass their fellow students? the people who rate their female classmates? the people who tar and feather anyone who doesnt participate in hook up culture as a prude? These people are less sexist? Who said these people are less homophobic? The people who will force everyone to play pronoun game forcing people to out themselves? the people who start every conversation by listing off their identities? who act like their homosexual friends are pets who afford them brownie points and who fetishize alternate sexualities and come up with nine different ones each day just so they can feel special instead of thinking " hey it doesnt matter to me what sexuality anyone is - i should treat everyone the same"? You resent actually embattled gay and lesbian people owning even their own history of oppression so you color your hair, put an earring on and call yourself queer while continuing to be cis and straight? Is that less homophobic? Do you think gay students at universities are bullied and assaulted because yall virtue signal on social media? Who said theyre not xenophobic ? the generation that chooses to focus on climate activism to the point where they dont think about poor brown and black people who need jobs to eat food? while at the same time they engage in fast fashion? No religious bigotry? really? the folks who have made wokeness into a new religion? the folks who- on this website- defend keeping muslim women in the dark ages as far as gender just family and inheritance law is concerned? Those people are not bigoted?
VCs and professors are not heartless because they graded your work fairly and didnt grant you attendance when you wanted. Your brain is just not developed enough to go beyond what you want (like a toddler). VCs and professors understand that when 50 students manage to come to class on time and submit their assignments and do decently well- and 10 students that dont do that stuff- its not fair to give everyone the same grade or to falsify records to pretend everyone put in the same effort. Students everyday go through difficult emotional issues and family problems and illnesses and they dont let it actually affect their work. Those students end up being toppers. You assume that anyone who tops a class has an ultra privileged background and thats just not true. its as much about what you put in. and its unfair to that student if the professor gives you the same grade even if you havent been putting in the same work.
I dont think mean / nice is the only thing that matters. Mean and nice are short term calculations based on whether someone makes you feel good or bad. A professors job isnt to be nice. Its his job to educate- and that involves holding students acccountable. Thats the whole job. 25 -30 years down the line- genz will be upset that they were this embarassing in their selfrighteousness.

Humein bhi kaam milega kya foreign law firms india me open hone par?
What is the implication ? That vidhi would falsely imprison people and force them to consult on their UCC draft ? Are you literally inside this world ?
You’re assuming bigoted things about how helpless and vulnerable these women are and how they cannot speak for themselves and they need to parrot your talking point to prove their freedom. Wake up dude.
I bet you think courts are the most progressive limb of the government in India. You probably think Chandrachud of Harvard law are better than uneducated elected representatives in parliament. If you actually studied history you’d know that from land reforms to anti dowry laws to atrocities legislation you’d know that the legislature has always been the more progressive limb of the government and the courts have always been more conservative. Despite your assumptions about different classes of people.
It’s quite common in graduate school applications to claim that you deserve a scholarship because you’ll help the country and contribute to it when you come back. Very few people actually follow through on that promise.
It's not that hard to get in if you have the right kind of privilege. It's not easy either. You have to check the right boxes but if you are street smart and privileged, you can do it. Especially if you are not too fussy about the truth although I don't want to assume that he is like other Rhodes scholars in this respect.
You’re assuming mal intent when there’s absolutely no need to. Understand that vidhi is not the government - they don’t have to do any of this but they are doing a consultative process because they want to advocate for these groups. Go ahead man call Akkai or flavia Agnes or any of the number of people they’ve called over the last few months and consulted and ask them. Don’t just fling mud because you have some bone to pick with vidhi.
Anyone can make baseless allegations - maybe you’re actually 2pac and you’re alive and you’re writing this stuff from the dark side of the moon - maybe you’re the zodiac killer - see how easy that was ?
I realize that in India getting a job is solely dependent on college and internships. Once the approrpriate stage has crossed then nothing much can be done.
For example, I am a 2020 Graduate in 3 years L.LB from T-2/4 city, no name college with no environment and awareness of internship and placement cells. We all were just focused on govt exams. Started to litigate in 2021 in district court under an experienced lawyer. Struggle is persistent even for lawyers 20+ years in litigation industry as far as district court is concerned.
Decided to jump to corporate law firm but I met with HUGE and impossible hurdle to cross:-
1) Non-Branded Law School
2) No internships in corporate practise areas
3) No contacts
4) No Alumni Network
5) Dull CV
6) No publications
7) Not in T-1 CITIES to gain information
I now truly understand the meaning behind african proverb "It takes a whole village to raise a child". In other words, a child is the sum total of his environment (read: city).
I maybe late, or lost case but I still hope I can get into a good law firm and work in GCA/M&A/PE/VC , and save some money to shift to Supreme / Delhi High court.
So, I am inviting comments and suggestions from Partners , Associates and experienced people working in Corporate Law Firms.
Wish you all good health,
Thanking you all,
User-01
It’s just untrue what you’re assuming.
History doesn’t start and end with your generation- there was stuff that happened before you as well. At one point nls had fees of a few thousand a year , and over time it increased to a lakh a year then two lakhs a year- at the time all these same arguments were made - but nothing much changed in fact nls has become more diverse over the years than less.
Females have really proven their grot in law firms in the last 10 years, and not because of their looks but hard work
We just hope and pray.
Moreso junior lawyers.
We pray that our senior gets briefs so that we get stipend.
We also pray that there is no surprise expenses (medical or other emergency spend).
Litigation mat kijiye unless u already have alternate source of income which generates cashflow.
On the non- corp side, you're again generalising by saying that side has better work. You may be extremely happy and satisfied filing A PIL and equally happy closing an M&A deal. That being said- I guess corp firms have early money. If you're good in what you do- you'll make enough money in whatever you do. I know friends who started doing policy work (where they were paid low amounts initially) but later on due to their work and reputation got involved in multiple high paying assignments with large Corporate houses in their own area of policy work.
TLDR version - keep all options open and experiment. You may find good work and pay in all areas.
All I can say is a friend was hired to be an assistant professor recently and they make a tidy 1.15 in hand every month.
The advertisements tell you 7th pay commission scale, but the government only gives you a range . Most nlus will pay you the bottom most amount of money in that range- nls will pay you near the top of that range.
Remember what Rancho said and follow it :)
All the best and cheers mate!

The post clearly said they want an academic career. Irrespective of Stem/Non-Stem, a Ph.D., is mandatory for most universities and promotions in any academic career.

Hello @Female Partner Madam above,
I need some guidance and to talk to someone experienced in corporate law firm. Can we talk somehow?
(Little Background:- 2020 Law Graduate , 3 Years Course, No-name college in tier -2/3 city, no internship or exposure to corporate world. prepared for judicial services, could not make it . Now litigating under a senior adv in district civil court. Want to jump ship to corporate law firms due to financial stress)
Thanking you,
User-01
Requesting to please share your views on the Disputes Team (Delhi office) of S& R Associates. Truly grateful for the responses. Thanks in advance.
So, (1) put in the work, and based on the work, (2) state that you wish to join the firm.
Good luck!
And trust me choosing these universities won’t make any difference to them
Nalsar fee:- 2.41 lakhs (gives you better foreign placements/TCs than NLS which is charging 4.15)
Nujs fee:- 2.48 lakhs (gives you better domestic placements than NLS which is charging 4.15)
NLU Delhi:- 3.02 lakhs (gives you better foreign llm plus upsc exposure than nlsiu).
Even nlu Jodhpur seems cheaper than nlsiu considering Aditya Birla is also applicable in nlu j.
So this made nlsiu far more inaccessible. The aspirant will save the 1.15 lakh every year to do a well rounded masters later on.
NLSIU need to reconsider its decision.
Fees - 181000 -191000
Please do let me know!
