2. Would love to hear the opinions of practitioners, too.
On the other hand, the INDIA alliance hardly seems to be any better. It consists of various goons who would not hesitate to do the same if they come into power and seek to divide the country on the basis of Caste, promoting a revitalization of Mandal politics which'll set India on a backwards path yet again, with them calling for the 50% cap set by Indira Sawhney to be overruled. While I'm in favour of affirmative action for adequate upliftment and representation of historically oppressed communities, at the rate which they are going, we'll end up with less than 1/5th of the seats being unreserved and in general shall lead to a massive divide on the basis of Caste and other such matters.
Considering this, I simply don't feel like I can in good conscience vote for either bloc and am extremely concerned about the future. The nation has a lot going for it currently, with stable and decent economic growth along with the current demographic situation being ideal at least for the next 20 years, however regardless of this, I find myself perturbed and don't know what to do. Any insights from fellow commenters and leaders from LI?
Short term (1 Year) can include taking your family for a Vacation to Dubai/Singapore, Buying the latest Iphone
Mid Term ( 2 - 5 Years) can include Buying a Car, setting up your independent office, renovating your house etc
Long Term (10 years or more) - Buying Your Own House, creating a corpus for kids ( assuming you would like to start a family), retirement plans.
Basis the aforesaid, you can divide your income and start investing in instruments which give you return atleast 10% or above. You can start an SIP in equity Funds, (you can browse Kotak Mutual Fund's Website, SBI, HDFC, Motilal Oswal, White Oak) to get an idea about the estimated returns in 3 - 5 - 10 year period. Invest a minimum of 10K per month into Mutual funds to get substantial returns. I would however advise you to keep your personal expenses to minimum - <5k a month.
You may also consider investing in stocks of Blue Chip Companies - Axis Bank, IRCTC, BSE, CDSL, Reliance, HDFC, Kotak - (May by 5-7k a month)
Once in 3 months, you may buy a biscuit, keeping in mind the prices of gold
“Our primary goal is to ensure that every resident enjoys a very comfortable and pleasant dining experience. To address this and create a more inclusive environment, it has been decided to designate only six tables exclusively for vegetarian food," the email said.
...
APPSC has rejected the claims of “deliberate spilling over of non-veg food” by the protesting students, reported Indian Express.
...
However, an IIT-Bombay student confirmed off the record that 10,000 fine was imposed by authority on the student who was protesting on veg and non-veg food segregation.
...
I just talked to a student who sits at these tables. He is from a backward caste from UP pursuing research in Science. He said the ‘protest’ is entirely run by Humanities and Social Sciences department
....
The Ambedkar Periyar Phule Study Circle (APPSC), representing the students, condemned the incident and took action by tearing down the discriminatory posters. Their investigation through RTIs (Right to Information) and emails to the hostel's general secretary, it was revealed that there is no official policy for food segregation at the institute.
...
"The fine on the student who protested is disgraceful. Academics who care even a little bit about their institutions ought to resist this in speech and act.I certainly will," Anupam Guha, assistant professor from the Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies at the institute, posted on X. A Rs 10,000 fine was imposed on the student.
Suryakant Waghmore, professor of the institute's department of humanities and social sciences, also posted on social media on Wednesday. "Bhartiya vegetarianism of purity and segregation is a social illness... it needs to be cured, not institutionalised," he wrote.
In a column in a news portal earlier, Waghmore had written: "The idea of purity attached with vegetarian food tells us about the ideology of caste and its influence on food preferences in India."
Guha had criticised the decision earlier on September 28 in another post. "Segregation of spaces based on food is irrational, ingrained in purity-pollution practices which are casteist."
...
First, vegetarianism is not exclusively a matter of caste. While many Brahmin communities observe vegetarianism, it is most pervasive among the Jains, who are a religious minority. Also, millions of Brahmins — especially from eastern and northeastern India, Maharashtra and Kashmir — are non-vegetarians.
Conversely, there are many Muslims, Dalits and other backward-caste Indians who are vegetarians. A 2021 Pew research says four in 10 Indians consider themselves vegetarian. That makes India’s a roughly 40 per cent vegetarian population.
Now, what percentage of the population are Brahmins? Just about 4 percent. Add 0.4 per cent Jains to that. That makes it less than 5 per cent. What about the rest 35 percent who are vegetarians? So, how can vegetarianism be an upper-caste preserve?
Second, vegetarianism is a massively popular and growing lifestyle choice worldwide. A survey conducted by Kansas State researcher Glynn Tonsor has consistently found 10 to 15 per cent of Americans identifying as vegetarian or vegan since 2020. The worldwide vegan food market grew from $14.44 billion in 2020 to $15.77 billion in 2021. One has to respect their food choice and be accommodative if they want to eat away from the smell and feel of non-vegetarian food.
And third, will the protestors force Muslim students to eat from utensils in which pork is cooked? They won’t. So, why pick on the vulnerable and peaceful? Having a few separate tables or utensils is respect for diversity, not apartheid or segregation.

Anyways, JGLS's loss is NLS's gain.
They both were mature and professional enough to engage in a valid discourse rather than sticking to the fallacy of ad hominem….
Prabhash is a serious academic and he knows very well that reputation matters more than money. Jindal is only a propped up place which is what it is because it strategised to break the rankings. Consequentially, professorships are not of any consequence or value. An excellent academic like Prabhash and dimwits who do not even have a Ph.D or a single piece of good scholarship are both Professors. Have no doubts, serious academics consider Jindal to be a place to go to make money and nothing more than that.
Prabhash has a long career ahead of him and he will achieve much more as a scholar. The loss is only Jindal's.
So try to just absorb as much as possible and keep asking questions because the transactions move very fast, and you will often feel left behind.
Cheers!
Rich people do commit crimes but they usually go to big lawyers. You may intern or join them but you can't be them on day 1.
Paperwork is tough to keep track of. Handwritten applications with stamp court fees is a major skill that's required. Court staff are usually helpful.
Examinations are fun to watch once you understand who's good and who's just noisy.
Quality of lawyers is good but as they don't make as much as appellate court lawyers do, they may not appear as sharp. But once they open their mouth, you know they have substance.
Everyone knows trials go on for years but actually sitting through those dates can seem pointless at times.
Your perception about procedural aspects change. When you read criminal law articles on livelaw, you start asking yourself simple questions like how much do you really know about FIR?
Judges are mostly very patient and sharp. This can't be generalized but without giving away location details I want to say that often judges are present but witnesses are not available - which means trial can't go on.

If the headhunters have not even been able to get an interview for you then just drop this strategy altogether.
If you have friends working in T1s, then you will easily get to know which teams have openings and then you can send a cold email to (i) the partners or (ii) if the firm offers incentive to its members for bringing in new hires, to the SAs or PAs.
Headhunters proved to be useless for me and a lot of my friends. Not even a single interview landed for 6 months. These other tricks worked for all of us.
If the headhunters did get you few interviews then it might be a YOU problem and maybe you need to brush up on your way of presenting the knowledge. After graduating and getting bombarded with work, we tend to ignore the basic details on the assumption that the partners or PA interviewing us must already know it, which they surely do, and there is no need to go into that much detail. However, they still want you to be as articulate as possible and not miss even a single detail.
Gautam can only be charged if he actually took part in any sort of money laundering or was leaking secrets to Chinese intelligence. Which is obviously not the charge. So WTF is going on??
What has she done for world peace?
One thing?
Did she solve a conflict?
Did she campaign against WMDs?
Did she fight against religious nuts?
She is doing what committees in every liberal arts university are doing, it's just she is privileged.
Girls in Asia and Africa are doing 100 times more to protect environment.
All she does is rant.

Not so much camaraderie there, and I don't really blame Gopal after the drivel she wrote.
This lowered ratings would affect their career.

Such a downfall of the University, students don’t raise voice and yet would really hope for recruiters to come for placements.
It is a fact of life in India and in many offices where the bosses / owners are strict vegetarians and impose it on their employees.
Just yesterday I saw a video on YouTube where a man was told in Mumbai not to bring his omnivore food as the owner was a vegetarian.
Disappointing.

What proof does the govt have? It’s just baseless rubbish. Alumni from NLSIU and all NLUs must issue a statement condemning this.
Does doing internship in final year means assessment and what are the chances of getting a PPO?
Does stipend provided to General IP interns of final year? Also if hired what will be the salary and other peeks such as bonus?
@LegallyIndia do you have any mechanism to detect if AI generated content is being posted just to spam/boost engagement on a thread? Would be useful if AI generated content is flagged as AI generated.
