We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

This just in. One IIT can get 700 jobs on campus. All NLUs together can't. What law schools and students should do?

I would definitely like to avoid the (admittedly) toxic environment that you are creating (I say this as a person who does the work cause you will create antagonism towards peers and toxicity in the team).
Rather than taking this approach, try being an adult or a responsible senior and educate the incoming juniors.

Additionally, from the research I have done, direct tax seems to mostly comprise of individuals who have done CA and then LLB.
Should I give up on direct tax and find another field to focus my efforts, or it it worth pursuing. Other than this, I mostly have litigation internships (1 in direct tax) so switching to other departments will be very difficult.
Any leads for potential internships would also be appreciated. I have less than a year to graduate and the panic is starting to set in.
No Judgements please. Please no troll comments. Exam is on 10th.
It happened because my State Bar Council didn't give a proper enrollment number and gave a registration number. And asked everyone to re-upload certificate. Long story...
AIBE admit card tells this - - Remarks: If your documents are incomplete then please complete the same before the date of result, to avoid result from being withheld.
Which means there is still some time when something can be done.
What can I do? I can't find any place where I can make any corrections. Where do I re-upload the documents and make the changes in enrollment number.
Any advice is helpful.
The fact of matter is that the switch is possible provided you are prepared for tough question in interview. I took coaching from Rahuls, then simultaneously practised in court and gave many mains and then worked in companies and thereafter went on to pursue GC in law firm. Sbkch possible hai agar tum chaho toh. Abhi bhi mains dera hu company mein kaam karte2. Life bht lambi hai, career sirf ek aspect hai itna stress met lo. All the very best. I hope you find your godot.

its pretty straightforward and simple. once you have a draft with you, one need not make a lot of changes in it.
Same happened with me when I encountered egomaniacal psychopath toxic boss in my CS intership at one of the top companies.
Nevertheless, I left the same in 7 months but still get constant self doubts.
Also, one of the colleagues there had same panic attacks there and left after an year and is now doing decent.
But, ultimately you'll overcome it.
You cannot solely rely upon the RCC to get jobs, one should step out and leverage the alumni network to score decent opportunities.
Keeping this aside, the RCC of SLS P does invite a lot of banks, startups and in-house corporates to campus. While the packages offered are quite average (8LPA-10LPA), it has helped quite a lot of students to at least begin their career.
What kind of work do you get as a legal intern in pharamceticals like glenmark or cipla. People who have interned here please do give an insight. Also please give an idea on what work you generally get in MNCs. Thankyouuu.
Mutual Funds are allowed though for everyone.
Being a Non-NLU student in final year with decent internships including T1 (without contacts) as well, but not able to secure a PPO worries a lot.
On the flip side, I will surely be having >>70% hence MPJ is easier, aiming for DJS as well? Should I prepare for judiciary exams?
This profession becomes more stressful when you know the client is not yours, and even the money you make does not come owing to your own brand or reputations but someone else's. It stressed the Partner, most of whose emotional intelligence also gets compromised a number of times.
If you have chosen to work in a Tier-1, you need to be ready to handle the stress, knowing that most of the times the hard days are a function of these circumstances.
What would you recommend someone joining the profession in 2024/25 to do (apart from having basics of CPC sorted) in college to prepare for the kind of work that will be there?
Please also recommend some soft skills that you think are useful for this area of work! (or basically anything you feel you should've focused on more in uni)
Thank you so much!
To answer your question, firm does not check your trades. Your contract provides for clauses that you will abide with the firm's trading polices which includes taking prior permission.
About 10 people got into Argus and they're paying 16LPA, so that's really something, even if it doesn't have the Tier 1 tag. ICICI hired someone, and they're paying 16 LPA too. There were a bunch of random insurance companies, the pay isn't as good but on the bright side they're hiring people with below average cgpas, too. There are a bunch of people interning at T1s and T2s now, and I'm very hopeful that they'll make it there. Since we don't really have a minimum attendance requirement in 5th year, we have a huge advantage compared to T2 NLUs that have only one shot left - the winter internship break.
I know that it's not fantastic overall, but the other colleges are suffering too, it isn't just us. In the end, placement seems to be based on a bunch of factors outside our control - the general hiring status, which depends on the hiring of the previous year, economic factors, expansion possibilities, attrition rates, etc. If we had been in 5th year last year, we'd be singing a completely different tune about placements.
AZB, for example, hired 16 people in total last year from SLS - including the disputes team and PPOs. This year was very disappointing, because we expected a similar number based on the number of people shortlisted and the multiple rounds of interviews conducted. Through campus placement alone, Trilegal hired 10 people last year but they cut it down to 5 this year. They have given assessment internships to a few, though, let's hope that it leads to something. This isn't because our batch is better or worse than the 2023 batch, it's factors entirely outside our control. Anyway, I hope things turn out well for you. Good luck, stay hopeful!
Staying in the office till 10-10:30 PM on a daily basis is a testament to the fact that your office lacks WLB and has a bad culture.
You too would have been wishing too leave early in you A0/A1/A2/A3 days but couldn't. Now, when you are at a position to make things better, do them, make law firms a better places to work.
Trilegal raised paybands a while ago. Has S/CAM, KCO, AZB shown interest?

Remember: grades can get you through the door, not through the due diligence for the $$$ deal.
I myself am from one of the colleges mentioned above and am currently an assessment intern at a tier 2 firm.
Suffice to say you can mostly skip GK and still get in NLSIU.

P.s. during one of my internships, a partner scolded me for no mistake of mine, and i was planning on throwing him out of his 20th floor office window. The good thing is that he didn't come to the office for the next week, and when he came and asked me to meet him inside his office, he asked me if I had smoked. And I told him -"yes, do you have a problem", and the schmuck didn't say anything to me. I wouldn't divulge what happened next, but i work in tier-1 (2nd in a row). No job is as important as your self respect/ dignity.
