This is sheer ridiculous on part of Trilegal!!
The way you are looking at this is just completely wrong. Spend maybe 30-40 hours reading about this (but only good sources please) and then you will understand why this is the rule of thumb.
1. Taxmann for SEBI manuals (comes in a few editions throughout the year)
2. Agrawal and Baby on SEBI Act
3. Trilegal series with Bar & Bench
4. NISM Modules (paid + exam)
(Please add more to this list)
Both days inclusive
BTW, you're a law student, I assume.
You should've really looked up the Hon'ble Court's Official Website. The yearly calendar is available on the said Website.
You could've also Googled this π

I was reading an article saying that 20K a month (2.4L a year) was considered a decent starting salary in 1995. Now, 30 years later, a decent starting salary would be 1.5L a month (18L a year) which is 7.5 times as much. So, going by that logic, should the retirement corpus for someone be premise on having at least 1.35 crore to live on every year from 2055 to 2065? Or, 62 lakhs per year from 2040 to 2050? Or, 31 lakhs per year from 2030 to 2040? Seems about right?
I am assuming a decent upper middle class standard of living here. 2BHK with Dzire/Tata Bolt car and driver, 1 meal in a good restaurant every month and in a five star hotel every 2 months, 1 foreign holiday every year.
Also assuming no kids and spouse who has own savings and not relying on yours. So basically a single-person estimate.
With regards to work, they have a good quantity of work which is a quality mix of both enforcement and merger control. But they largely pigeon hole resources into a specific type of work. This affects overall growth of the resource.
The money is very good in this team.
Based on my limited experience, the quality of work is largely above average in this team.
Great potential - see the proliferation of funds over the last 10+ years.
(2) Do you expect the practice to expand out of Mumbai (to Delhi or Bangalore)?
It already has but Mumbai is likely to still be the biggest center.
(3) How easy is it to switch from investment funds to M&A/GC/PE&VC roles?
The skill sets are entirely different - it is a different practice area after all. There will be a learning curve, much like if you wanted to do debt work tomorrow coming from a fund formation background. So, I would reckon you will be able to switch in the first 2/3 years but it will have difficult after that.
(4) Do PE firms look to hire in-house lawyers with only investment funds experience?
Mostly, no. Once a fund is formed, then between entry and exits, a fund may have 10-20 deals (if not more). So, they are likely to value the lawyers who are involved in those 20 deals over the lawyers who are involved in the fund formation. That being said, larger funds may end up hiring a few people with fund formation background.
One question you haven't asked, which I think is probably the most important, as you grow older: what are the exit opportunities outside of law firms?
Here, M&A / PA & VC (and I consider this to include general corporate) or even debt work will give you far more marketable skills if you wish to move in-house. It will be silly for you to bank on exiting to a fund after you leave law firms since there are very few of those roles available in the market and typically people stick around in those roles once they get them. So, your likely exit is to be an in-house in a company. Here, fund formation work gives you very little advantage since it is a niche practice area and practice areas which have a larger universe of companies or which have general skills make more sense. Someone coming from a M&A / PE background will know how ESOPs work, how employment agreements work, would likely have done more drafting of general contracts, and thus will have skills which a founder will be more interested in, rather than fund formation.
Those people might become litigation superstars , they might get Rhodes , they might become partners in white shoe firms.
These things are very difficult to do - do you need every advantage you can get.
Also, the alloted land itself is highly slant, which most probably can't support a heavy structure.
Plagiarism is also about stealing writing and articulation. Have you been following the Claudine gay thing ? She got in trouble for language she had taken from other authors - nothing to do with ideas. If you ask a friend to help write a project or feed prompts to a friend and have them write something and edit it later - and then you donβt acknowledge them - thatβs plagiarism. Even if you do acknowledge them it might still be plagiarism or unauthorised collaboration.
You might think itβs morally acceptable to use chatgpt but I do not. If youβre being evaluated for work youβre claiming to have done - you should have done that work. This isnβt about what you can get away with- this is about have you learnt the skills to move on up.
Itβs like using a calculator in a middle school math exam- you might technically get the answer right - but the reason youβre not allowed to is because you can only demonstrate that you know how to do long division by hand by actually doing that and showing your work. If we gave up on teaching students basic math or writing and research - were not preparing them for a world where those skills will serve them.
In a world filled with lawyers who can only use chatgpt- the guy who knows how to write, who knows how to draft - heβs gonna get clients who pay, and heβs gonna get his research funded-because when itβs serious money at stake - you want that credibility and accountability.
I donβt like to fight culture wars on generations. This is more about class than it is about generations anyway. I think there were plenty of spoilt useless rich brats in pre-clat generations. I think there were plenty of other people who came from dirt and made a name for themselves because they dedicated themselves to improving their school.
You should ask yourself which group you belong to. Do you think the competition for jobs and scholarships is so low that you can waste time in college fighting over a sports meet thatβs at best an excuse for kids to get high? After all if it is about just playing sport for the love of it and trying to emphasise discipline and fitness and sportsmanship - you could legitimately just play with local teams at a significantly lower cost to the university. No one ever got a job because they won against Nalsars football team- those guys are mediocre anyway.
a lot of those people who started all these concerts and extra curriculars did so because they had rich lawyer parents who would help their careers. They could afford to take a five year vacation at what they saw as a finishing school .
Yβall will be complaining in five years that the nls brand isnβt what it used to be- what you will mean is that you wonβt get jobs off the brand name. You will blame it on the VC and the expansion. But really other people at the university will still be getting jobs and scholarships. And it will be because they kept their eye on the ball and their feet on the ground. They were realistic about the competition thatβs out there and went after the academic and career opportunities nls offers instead of complaining they donβt get to party their faces off. The toppers at nls will be fine. Itβs folks in the middle and bottom of the 5 year programme who will struggle to find jobs.
If you donβt contribute to building the brand - you contribute to destroying it- and you donβt morally deserve to benefit from it.
Now if you can be an excellent student and have a serious career plan and
Sports or concerts help you do that stuff - work life balance and all - good for you. But you have to be honest with yourself first, and the institutions priorities for funding might not match your specific taste - you might have to go it alone.
You can always raise funding for any of these events, host your guests in hotel rooms , have the event at another venue, or you can pay the university for use of its resources. Students at other universities already do this. But if youβre asking for an investment of university resources into a sports meet or a concert- you have to be able to articulate why your cause deserves an investment other than β waahhhh I want it , itβs so unfair! My friends all got it !β
The university is heading into a lean period financially - theyβre taking on a lot more students , building a lot more infrastructure , and hiring more and better faculty. Those are expensive things.
They may host an alumni weekend so they can glad-hand some partners and squeeze some scholarships out of them - but how does it help to pay for students to get high and drunk and watch a concert ?
Because you prompted me to talk about generations let me say this- For a generation that complains constantly about how unfair it is that they inherited a world that is facing enormous challenges in climate , the economy, education, and social justice. For a generation that claims to be βwokeβ to these injustices, yβall have some weird priorities. You want to have oppression points but you also want a luxurious life. You want to complain about competition in job market but you want to spend your years in college out of your mind partying instead of doing everything you can to beat out the competition, or even everything you can to solve larger problems. You say you want a revolution - but yβall also want to retire early and live like a kardashian.
At some point youβre gonna have to come back to earth - away from insta reels - thatβs not real life. And start working on solving problems for real.
You can keep blaming your elders - but at the end of the day itβs your life and your future. Those guys already got theirs. Rich Gen x and gen y folks might have had it easier - but times are different now, and different for you.
Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times.
occupation/designation.
The idea is to exchange notes and ideas on being financially secure!
A year of law firm experience also doesn't do much, I think at least 3-5 years of law firm experience helps. Unfortunately, you cannot be "tired" of working hard if you want to make 20LPA (ie in the ~95+ income percentile; 90th income percentile earns 25k per month) with only 4-5 years of experience. The better option would be to try to switch to any decent in-house oppurtunity which you can manage over a 6-12 month span. With the right in-house job, you can easily make 20LPA with 4/5 years of experience while have a decent WLB.
Lets see where it goes on tuesday and Wednesday

Please donβt go here! It is just going to bring down your confidence and self esteem.
The bombay HC did the right thing by berating them. If they were not students then costs would have been imposed.
Further its likely that share price will jump on listing given that they are doing the IPO on a lower valuation
As you can see on socials, Ramanuj/BRLM has done a good job of promoting it, massive, massive response from investors
Rarely you see 10 anchor investors co investing in an IPO of this size
On top of that QIB section was oversubscribed 7x on day 1, which is a great sign because QIB normally put in money on the last day of IPO, and this one has 2 more working days left starting tomorrow
Do we can expect momentum to get higher from here
And in retail its just frenzy situation, youtubers predicting 2x-3x listing gain, GMP also indicates that
But can this price hold?
A lot depends on what results they declare in march
Give it couple of quarters to know what the true share price will be like
Same goes for your question about Ramanuj and Abhyudayβs net worth
One thing is for sure, all the cofounders (8) will become millionaires going forward not just 2 of them
Wonder why they hate Sudhir when he opposes watching movies and sleeping in class.
If you're choosing funds, then absolutely forget flexibility, there is very less flexibility in choosing firms only; forget in house and location.
Switching is hard because the area is completely completely different. Switching from PE to funds would be a better idea than vice versa.
Getting hired by PE firms is a complete hit or miss you can't rely on it.
I would strongly suggest you that if you're not from Mumbai or want to eventually shift out of Mumbai, start off by PEVC instead of investment funds. Starting by funds you'll be limited to 3-4 good firms at Max, there is absolutely no flexibility remember this.

Bhaad mein gaya trilaterals, study for exams.
Can I switch in-house with that experience combined with a year of law firm experience?
Second get IPR from tol ivy league college and sir for recruitment
You can never scale selling pani puri or bhel, howsoever enticing it sounds as a junior. There are too many competitors, perhaps each after 50 meters in some cities. You can do premium billing as a pani puri vendor. Service industry players like law firms, accounting firms can.
We are often driven by the desire to leave law - because of no/less work life balance, opportunities etc. This is okay, but comparing it to selling pani puri may something not be okay.
But if that feels too taxing, please just post it all on LinkedIn. With screenshots. You'll have the full support of the corporate lawyer community except a few cocksuckers and their opinion doesn't really count.
Is there enough time? Some colleges seem to hold exams within 4 months of 1st semester.
Rarely partners have time to share Instagram reels. When both of you follow each other, one can share a link to other person too.
You are either hyper sensitive or over reacting. If it was Sexual harrasment at workplace, you must take legal action.
Now, after the proceedings completed, RW started naming and shaming the law students on twitter. They are being called jihadis and all sorts of names. So far Gautam Bhatia (NLS) and Ashish Goel (NUJS) have tweeted in support of these law students. Why are LW alumni from reputed National Law Schools silent and not speaking up? Is it too risky to speak about this openly? These are the links to the tweets:
