Having said that, I know some lawyers who have carved out practices where they are making around 1-2l pm despite having never worked with another lawyer. However, they mostly do trial court work and are not "good" lawyers in any respect. I wonder if 10 years down the line this will impact them.
1. Terrible at STEM
2. Prestige of NLSIU (I didnβt make it
there eventually)
3. More girls in law school than STEM fields (turns out I was wrong)
Nalsar or NLU Delhi will never come anywhere close to NLS Bangalore in next 50 years. NLS will remain way ahead.
CLAT ranks do not correlate at all with whether a person will be successful once they get into law school. The rest of us understand this once weve actually gone to law school and graduated and have a few years behind us. Its only arrogant 18 year olds who put much store by this exam or their rank. If you want to take it easy and coast for five years- your clat rank wont matter- you will have trouble finding jobs or scholarships.
Join a senior. Learn the art of advocacy. Learn how to strategize. How to make or break a case.
EVERY good lawyer had a good senior.
No, my father is not a lawyer. (He is a teacher in a very small private school)
No, law was not my first choice.
Primarily, below are the 2 unfortunate incidents, that impelled me to pursue law.
1. Watched this movie called 'Shahid' and came to know about how only poor people from a particular community are falsely arraigned as terror accused.
2. My uncle, a superintendent of police got suspended because of some petty allegations. The same allegations were levelled against his seniors as well his juniors, however they didn't get suspended. May be there was something in my uncle's name.
(Uncle is an SP. Can you imagine the level of discrimination and persecution of poor people? )
Still in law school. Enjoying the struggles!
Please keep in mind that my total assets are not worth that much so going by % may not be a very good criterion (e.g., my monthly salary is a little less than 10% of my liquid assets).
Around 50% of my liquid assets are in MFs and stocks
Remaining 50% in cash, FDs, gold, etc.
Put in amount equivalent to around 30% of my liquid assets in a car, and another 30% in an apartment under construction.
In these cities, once you have a good residential property, you don't need more than 24-36 LPA family income to live a very comfortable life. Most families would be getting to these levels after working for at least 15-20 years.
On the other hand, you can make this kind of money in 4-5 years in T1 law firms. In another 5 years, you'll comfortable surpass your family income (that took them 25 years to reach), with just 8-10 years of experience.
Therefore, for a vast majority of people, you actually increase your affluence by joining T1 law firms, even if you are from an UMC family. The exception would probably be if your family income is above 60 LPA and consistently so (which is extremely high for any city other than Mumbai). Additionally, even in those cases, remember that professionals cannot transfer their income directly to their children. It is only if you have a business that you can do that.
Looks are not irrelevant, but they're not that important (for men). It mostly functions to open the door - if you are good looking, it's easier to go up and talk and they will initially be more open and welcoming. But if you're charming and confident looks become irrelevant very quickly. What is important is how you make the girl feel. That has to do with emotions, not reason (which is why the girls prefer the "dumb jock" (who probably isn't that dumb actually - physical and emotional intelligence are just as important as analytical intelligence/IQ) instead of the guy who shares the same interests).
Even an initial dislike of you is fine - it's better than indifference or boredom. It can easily become interest (which is why the girl always hates the boy at first in Hindi movies).
"Being attractive" is a state of mind - an attitude - more than anything else.
"Hooking up" or "seducing" is a social skill - it's no different to learning a language or learning to drive a car. At first, you're terrible at it and slow, and constantly have to think about what you are doing and making mistakes, and slowly you practice and get better and smoother, till you can speak and drive on instinct and think about what you're going to have for dinner while driving. It's exactly the same - towards the end of my single days, I could go on a date and hook up at the end of it entirely on autopilot, while thinking about work or what I was planning for the weekend or whatever. Just the same way you can drive home from work and not even consciously remember large parts of the drive.
To the OP - you want to be more attractive to girls and hook up more? Go and spend a lot of time talking to a lot of girls. Don't immediately think about hooking up with them - think about having fun with them, teasing them, joking with them and making them want to hang out with you. Think less about logic and more about "fun" in your conversations. If she's laughing at what you're saying and simultaneously punching you in the arm in mock anger because you're teasing her, you're doing it right (do not insult her - this is meant to be fun, not serious). If you get good at that, I promise plenty of women will be interested in you.
Oh and never ignore a girl's friends - their opinion is HUGELY important to the girl and it can make or break your chances. You want her friends to approve of you and to be asking her why she hasn't hooked up with you yet, and telling her she should do it before she loses you to another girl.
This is a very weird take that I could never understand that corporate lawyers don't contribute to the society. Even the guy who sells tea below the office contributes, everyone does. Type of impact might be different but it's not non existent.
SOME ONE PLEASE ANSWER
Bro can anyone telle about hiring in dispute resolution team in these firms??
I don't see any fault here
I've always had a very good luck with women due to this and I've always acted in the manner as described above. Almost every girl I've ever been with has been out of my league and I've impressed them so yeah guys take note .. this stuff works.
But haven't heard of Non-NLU people getting selected by international firms.
my seniors from this college who are now working under some well established seniors donβt really find a good learning curve and suggest me to start independent if I can
No money no honey
Good boys go to heaven
Bad boys go to Bangkok
If it affects them then they will have to start the conversation. Have they reached out to the SBA? To the SC or any other student body? Can we start a protest based on a random LI allegation?
Some random intern (who got in the last minute via pulling some big contact), accused the principal associate there. Now we all know that principal associate for several years, he never came accross as anything but professional to us, a rather kind soul if one were to descibe him. I just don't happen to understand this mindset of people saying such things which is coming at cost of one losing his/her reputation in the industry.
Any suggestion?
(Just to be clear I cannot apply to any other nlu through nri sponsored because I did not mark the nri sponsored category at the time of filling the Clat form, and only gnlu takes nri sposnored admission through All India ranks and not the nri ranks, so I just have gnlu as a tier 1 nlu option).
I have interned with this firm for a substantial period of time. During the entire course of my internship, not even once I was made to feel uncomfortable, professionally or personally. Just because one can't get in the firm as a permanent member, people start speaking rubbish, starting with "character assassination" off course because, it is too easy to pin it on someone.
Women, by women, I mean straight (80%) of women, want a man who knows how to behave like one. You don't need muscles for that, but you need to take charge. You must be assertive, in control of your situations, playful with her, and make her comfortable enough to ensure she behaves like a kid in front of you. How to be that person she swoons over? Take care of yourself, in a conversation, speak less and let her speak more, but carefully understand her mannerisms. Be extremely playful, make her laugh, tease her most times, but also rebuke her when she is being extremely annoying. Be in charge of your surroundings, make sure other men respect youβdon't be a pushover. Do not seek her validation; don't be accessible all the time. Let her miss you a bit. When you do come, make her feel good. Be unpredictable, be flirty, make it very clear that you want her romantically, and then vanish. Get back to work, make her feel good, but always maintain the mystery, unpredictability, and she must at all times be slightly scared of you.
Now, this sounds like a lot of things, but it isn't. Seduction is easy; you don't need to be extremely good-looking or muscular. You just need to understand how women think and what they want. Be attentive, be observant, and you will understand.
PS: Be good in intimate situations, excel in foreplay, and take it slow. Be in control and unpredictable. As soon as you two start getting intimate, and if you are really good, she will become obsessed with you. And when I say obsessed, I mean it. In other words, be like James Bond or me.
At NLS the official limit is 50 pages per class, so that would be about a thousand/ two thousand pages per class, 5-10 thousand per semester. Some professors do go over the limit considerably, nothing to be done about it when the subject requires it tbh. This is all quite normal.
I did my llm at an ivy league university, it was like a hundred words a day per subject- something like that- unless you were in business school then you didnt learn much. It goes fast when you get used to it.
theres enough time. on average- 50 pages shouldnt take you longer than an hour. If youre reading judith butler or spivak or someone dense- it might take longer, but if youre reading cases- it might take less time. but on average an hour for every subject is quite reasonable.
Also, the people are very easy to work. One of the best teams
