We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Also, I’m looking for places where I can potentially be assessed for hiring and LKS doesn’t do that even after keeping interns on loop for months at end. This is fine, no complains, because they already mention it in the application form but I’d much rather do long-term somewhere where they would be looking to hire as well.
Have you read 370 judgment ? Maharahstra Politics ? DeMonetisation ? Tribunal Appointments ? Land Acquisition ??
Do you think DPSP can go ahead in violation of part III ??
Bro.. Judges across all level have no balls to go against Govt.. they are interested in their poketburrows
For me it's JNU>NUJS>SAU>ILI>NLUD>NALSAR>GNLU>JMI>NLS
I hope God has some good plans for us.
Hugs
They go by the facts at hand and the constitution.
I saw in tv yesterday someone mentioning that UCC is against fundamental rights. Guess they forgot about directive principles of state policy which means states in time should give adherence to them.
Story
My previous thread was not posted on Legally India. I am working as a contracts lawyer in Delhi. Not I have forgot everything taught during LLB. As in the past 4 years I have only dealt with commercial contracts. After LLB I had to take up a job because of family pressure. But my dream was to become a judge, clear the judicial exam.
I am getting a good salary now. I am unmarried. I have savings of Rs. 10 lakhs. But I am very old. Even thou Rajasthan Judicial exam age is relaxed. Is it a good option for me?
Questions
1. Am I too old? Please don't give philosophical answers
2. Would I be able to start from scratch. Would the 4 year gap from subjects hurt. Is it possible to catch up?
3. How much time should I give for Rajasthan judicial services?
4. Any comforting words
Biggest is CAM with 1000+ lawyers.
PIB not involved in this case boss
If you want to know whether or not it is possible, short answer is yes.
It is doable, but you need to manage your expectations appropriately. Expectations from your self, and from the profession.
You would be aware that teaching and litigation are complete different playing fields.
There might be slight room for flexibility in teaching, particularly in terms of deadlines. That might not always be the case in litigation.
Litigation is hour-intensive. It is at times physically strenuous. See for example: running around between courts, handling bulky briefs, etc. It is mentally engaging.
Be crystal clear with your own self, in terms of how you want to devote your time to your household and your practice.
You need to team up with your folks so that you all can manage the household in a manner which helps you devote necessary time for your practice.
Seriously vet the firm/ chambers you join. Be frank and open with them as to how much you would be able to offer in terms of your time.
You haven't been completely out of touch with law as a subject, given your teaching experience which is close to a decade. Just start looking at it from a non-academic perspective. Earlier, the only people who would be impacted by your words and actions as a professional would have been your students. Only to the extent of their marks. Now, your actions and words will have a direct bearing on the lives of litigants you come into contact with. The level and nature of responsibility is vastly different.
Be ready to be treated like you know next to nothing, that's how juniors are treated.
Be ready and willing to ask if you don't know something. Persons younger than you are likely to have more experience of the profession, no shame in asking.
Be ready to have juniors ask you something, since in all likelihood, you look your age. If you don't know the answer to their questions, tell them that you could find it out together, you've been a teacher, after all!
So far as getting a foot in the door is concerned, you have far a greater number of openings than what you could be thinking of. Former college mates, former students, current students, colleagues- in short you're not entirely cut off from opportunities.
It is not easy
It is not impossible either
Take a reasoned call
Best wishes
Career prospects ? Opportunities ? Networking ? And Future opportunities in pvt sector or firms ?
And Most importantly in comparison to Sebi Grade A.
Plz don't consider the diff. in grade and salary at initial level. It even outs in 6ish yrs.
Option 1:CAM is not that bad, opinions in LI are either overstated or doesn't reflect complete picture. After all only negative comes out in newspapers.
Option 2: Brand Amarchand
Option 3: CAM is good for training in the initial years.
Option 4: Better chance to be a rainmaking partner.
Option 5: Not able to switch firms and not willing to work anywhere at lower pay
Option 6: Not able to switch anywhere .....just stuck here.
Option 7: it's too early to switch.
Option 8: don't know whether other firms have same situation.
Option 9: hopeful that it will get better overtime.
Option 10: other
( I have given so much time to frame and research on this question. Cam literally has one of the highest number of lawyers and it is hiring in large numbers from top nlus and is also getting PREFERRED OVER other firms in day 0s for past few years: no, I am not a CAM HR but I have verified based on a couple day 0 lists. Your educated responses as opposed to trolls can be helpful for lot of us. Thanks.
My family is earning enough to pay for my admission to Jindal, however I'm not particularly keen on going to Jindal, mostly due to having heard about the type of crowd who go there along with various other issues which I've heard about. However, the NLU I'm getting into has a ton of problems and controversies surrounding it as well which are well documented on LI. Which one would serve as a better fallback option if I were to unable to do well in CLAT 2025 and provide me with the best opportunities for the future?
Mo hai to Mu hai.. writing on the wall.. worst part is law applies to residents of that state even if they don't live in UK

(Hint- it is not as rosy as it seems).
Hoping to get some honest feedback on the above, thanks!
If there's something that comes up during court working days, at least in the HCs, people tend to file leave notes [Word of caution: Sometimes, some HC judges may tend towards not taking the same into consideration; there is certainly a degree of discretion involved].
OP, you could surely find a better platform for this discussion. Respectfully, LI is not the correct platform.
I'm a 2023 batch graduate and am looking for a job in the IP field in Delhi NCR area but the gap in my CV is seeming like a deterrent, so I've been trying my hand at internships but no luck so far.
Would really appreciate any insights.
An associate might be 3 years into his career at SRP and still be in Band 1 or 2 - depending upon his performance and other factors. You dont get promoted to next band the next year automatically like it is done in T1s.
1. Leave the house and live on your own. Get them off your backs.
2. Look for a bf.
3. Tell them you're lesbian. They'll stop looking for a guy for you... unless you think that will that only strengthen their resolve. 🤔
It is easy to run down a line of thought, but realistic and necessary to be aware of the financial aspects
I am actually the one who wrote the financial aspect comment.
I personally know a guy who married under pressure since he, for reasons best known to him, could not stand up for himself on this point. His entire financial aspects were enmeshed with those of his parents. He has always worked for his father's business.
He is openly miserable. The wife is unhappy since her husband is resentful towards her, even at family functions. The couple ended up having a kid, again, due to pressure from the social circle, though the guy was initially reluctant. The wife thought the kid would be able to complete their family or whatever, and caved in. The kid is now almost nine and a splitting copy of the guy. The guy, unfortunately, doesn't care much for the kid, provides money, but that's it. Wife drags along through life. It is evident enough for extended relatives to know.
The guy is otherwise decent, as is his wife. As are the parents. The marriage however has definitely been a bad ride for the guy and the wife.
All could have been avoided if he had independent thoughts and finances.
