We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

But nobody becomes a lawyer with the aim of becoming a billionaire. Lawyers may not make billions but they can certainly make multi millions which is way above what an average Tom, Dick or Harry can earn in their lifetime.
People become lawyers mainly for intellectual passion and money also follows the deserving ones.
Truth is - That feeling of giving up the holiday and working should come from within - ownership. But there’s no ownership when partner owns equity and the junior is like a salaried employee who has to sacrifice his time and not be able to enjoy his money he earned by working hard.
Most cases the junior will be replaced by partner soon as they get someone better. In your own business, that will never happen.
I feel private universities may take the lead in this because of finding that they may recieve.
It’s called pragmatism.
I think NLS Bangalore is way ahead other NLUs for its faculty, alumni, reputation and everything.

25 Rhodes Scholars: NLSIU boasts 25 Rhodes Scholars, showcasing the academic excellence of its students.
Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition: NLSIU is the only law school in South Asia to have won this prestigious competition twice, highlighting its prowess in international law advocacy.
National Law School of India Review: The NLSIU's student-run law journal has been cited by the Supreme Court of India in two notable judgments, including the landmark Right to Privacy verdict. This achievement sets it apart as one of the few Indian law journals recognized by the Supreme Court.
And much more: NLSIU's unique attributes extend beyond these mentioned points, solidifying its reputation as a leading institution in legal education.
Let me recount a personal incident. A few years back, my daughter underwent routine appendix surgery scheduled for 3 pm, and she wished for my presence. Despite leaving work at 1:45 pm to be there, I received a call from a team member about crucial data from our client. I immediately returned to the office and resumed work. That dedication led to my promotion to partner at my Tier 1 firm that year.
Success in this industry demands dedication and prioritizing client needs above personal matters.
Real question should be how many hours do you people get off in a day so that they can sleep peacefully!
BTW salary is not a perk.
We all should file a petition to bring back the old assisted search feature. It made out life wayyy easier

I somehow operate in cycles (highs and lows), and medications, including stimulants such as Modafinil, etc have not been able to help generally during the low period.
What somehow gets me through this is exercise, I cannot meditate, but love to cycle, and cycling alone is like meditation for me.
Honestly, Idk if there is any one size fits all straitjacket solution that you can glean here. You can perhaps experiment with the coping mechanisms people have mentioned but yours may be something entirely different, and might even evolve. For me, pre-law school, this was novels.
Also, my brother who is an IIT-IIMA guy, has ADHD himself, and similarly functions in highs and lows, and FPS games somehow work for him. Best of luck, hope you find your "something" that keeps you going!
except weekends,How many vacations did one get in a year/month, Any foreign trips?
Ask these questions with equal casual tone. These buggers need a snide retort. & Shame on those who are still asking you to lose weight. There are too many reasons for weight gain that are beyond one's control.
1) get angry next time it happens and try and confront/shame people- you will alienate colleagues but thats a cost.
2) ignore it or laugh it off- try and remember that other peoples opinions are just that and no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
3) go to the gym and lose weight- no weight no mockery. you might find that they mock you for something else. and that weight loss should be about you getting healthy.
4) leave the firm- no firm no bullying. you might not have much luck elsewhere.
5) just pick flaws in whoever is saying mean shit and drag them for a bit. no one in any firm looks like a model anyway. fighting fire with fire is a recipe for some burnt people.
Seniors are helpful, there is no sir/ma’am culture and you’re actually treated as a peer rather than some puny kid one can pick on if you’re bored.
Placement shouldn’t be a determining factor. If you work hard, you’ll land up in a T-1 firm in either college and this can evinced by the fact that both colleges place a decent number of students in T-1 firms. However the alumni base in Hnlu may prove to be helpful (provided the admin recognises their very existence)
I had the choice of going to rml, hnlu, and nluo and I chose hnlu due to the fact that hnlu as such has seen consistency in placements, has a decent industry repute among corporate firms, and a large campus( which is under-utilised)
However, in hindsight, a thing I feel lacking is the emphasis of extra curriculars. Nluo has an excellent mooting culture which you don’t find here. You’d find nluo students participating in competitions left right and centre while hnlu students are preoccupied with acads( and the fact that admin is pretty icky about covering expenses for competitions ) Societies at hnlu are barely functioning.
However the corp culture at hnlu seems to be a notch ahead. There is good guidance and if you secure a decent rank and tailor a nice CV, your placement is guaranteed.
Hnlu does have a better library when it comes to corp and IP, while it isn’t aesthetic looking and looks like pretty basic from outside , you’d practically find any book you require for your moot, conference, or publication.
Note: I have nothing against nluo peeps, they’re probably the only college along with hnlu among the T2s that seem to be worth the money if one wants a shot at a corp placement coupled with the semblance of college life.
Mckinsey is a consulting group..even nalsar got someone in Deloitte and BCG.
Grinding in college is for foreign jobs, quality LLMs or career shift. T1 is a formality. Or if you’re a donkey who’s too dumb to make it to T1 without effort. Im not trolling, if you have the privilege of a good standard of education (which 90% if not closer to 100 of NLU kids do get) these kinda jobs are a mere formality.
The problem of these double occupancy 10x10 rooms further aggravates in April when temperature reach 40°C and two people need to survive in those rooms without air conditioning. The administration is totally inconsiderate about these basic things. They can spend on that flower show but not in basic amenities.
The best teams as per quality of work are:
S&R
CAM
Azb
Kco (A team, not B team)
Indus
Trilegal (Mumbai Office - the Delhi partner doesn't deserve to be ranked)
JSA
SAM
(PS: Before the Scammies start defending themselves, please go back and check your lapses during the One97 IPO. The same IPO where your practice head (not the firm) made crores)
None of the teams should be ranked as per their professionalism because none are consistently professional. Each team (apart from S&R) has multiple senior members who openly propagate cutting corners.
If your family is rich, the best option is to leave the capital markets practice. The current cartel of team leaders will only use your connections (and your zeal to work hard) to build their practices on the back of your efforts and sweat.
Unless you are from a politician family, a bureaucrats family, or a leading lawyers/CA family, you will never be allowed a seat at the table, let alone a chance to become anything more than a glorified assistant.
Also, unless you are the team leaders pet, you should expect to have every leave of yours infringed upon. Uninterrupted random foreign sojourns are reserved for the team leaders and their pets.
Should you require any further clarification, in place of using a pseudonym on LI, please reach out directly.

Please don't misguide.
As far as you not being able to tolerate infringement of your vacation time, you should realise that only life-altering events (like funerals, marriages, the birth of a child) and religious holidays are considered sacrosanct only if you have a decent person as your boss. Sadly, the capital markets practice due to its cartelisation does not have a lot of decent people heading any of the major teams.
If you are hoping for random sojourns to foreign lands as per your whims and
Tell him that you will start serving notice right after the bonus
Probably asked to do so by Cyril Shroff who cannot handle the "small law firm" poaching all his partners.
Meds are recommended. But not a permanent solution.
Focus here:
- Nutrition (keep vitamin and protein levels right)
- Exercise (couple of times a week is fine)
- Planners (you have to keep yourself organised, plan your work and todos very very well)
There will be roadblocks - but if you love your job, ADHD will become your super power and you will do better than most.
No job is worth compromising your quality of life.
You work to lead a happy life. The object is not getting fulfilled with this job.

GNLU was indeed leading ahead of NLIU in recent times however they have severe student issues like sexual harassment etc. Infant just today a committee has been set up under retired judge Indu Malhotra to deal with true same problem.
NLIU on the other hand has RGNCLC.
However, working with the other T1 firms is not so pleasant at a personal level although the standard of work is higher.
