Leaving aside internal firm policies, please do NOT. This is just a suggestion but man marriages that have lasted 20 years have broken off. You can't tell how life will be like if it does not work out and you two will have to work together. I know its hard to set boundaries with colleagues when you spend like 12 hours a day with them but try elsewhere (anywhere but your own office, especially your own team). Besides, there is so much else that could go wrong. For example, private information you give them can be used against you. Stay clear, do your job and leave.

I am part of Batch 7. They ran their programmes for 3-4 years for free. My mentor, who worked at a law firm, was not very proactive and responded to me quite late. Since it was a free programme, I didn't complain much. But I was expecting more support from them. Before rebranding, they were mostly free, hence most people were grateful for their experience.

my classmates and I for a given subject, generally recieve scores that fall within a certain range that's wide but not too wide. we chalked it upto "same professor is checking the papers for the whole class which is why everyone has similar scores". similar as in, almost all of us would do (relatively) well (given our respective abilities) in the same subject and really bad in another subject according to the scores (yes I've considered that this could also be attributed to some subjects just being difficult or quite easy but) i suspect we're being graded on a curve. no professor in our college has ever said so nor does the college book that explains all the rules and formalities and whatnot. but professors are weirdly cryptic about how they grade us. sometimes when we voice our frustrations about the difficulty levels of the finals they are not dismissive but give the impression that our worries are baseless. almost as if to say the whole class is not going to fail even if we do badly (cause we would be graded on a curve!) and only those who don't study at all need to be worried

The DHCBA has decided to abstain from working on May 25, due to a proposal of increasing the pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts in NCT from INR 2 Crore to INR 20 crores. I feel this is uncalled for, given the same has happened in Bombay due to an overwhelming backlog of commercial cases in the Bombay High Court. The DHCBA, however, seems very rattled by such a proposal given that a lot of designated seniors in DHC rely on commercial suits filed in the Original Side.

1. Is it worth flying down to Mumbai for the written exam and interview, do they accommodate requests for virtual exams?
2. I want to understand the rough pay range for A1/A2s.
3. How is the work culture like at the firm, and how's the attrition rate?

The last few lines are really comforting. I think in law circles, there is a lot of pessimism in general, maybe its the law school, or the market, or the people, but it is, and can really add a lot to the existing worry in a student. I now just believe in the idea of putting my best out there, and then whatever the universe has best planned for me will happen. That has really helped me personally navigate through the stress at least. Im still in my 3rd year of law school, and when I look back at my own life, things have always turned out to be better, despite all the setbacks. Peer pressure, comparisons, and expectations are just something which I think everyone goes through, be it a law student worried about future, an entry level associate or a senior partner, so its a part of life I guess, but gradually does get easier. This is a really good firm to work at. I know a few who have moved on the Tier 1 law firms and those who have decided to stay there and thrive - both sets of lawyers are happy. So really depends on what your expectations are but overall sets you up for a good legal career. The culture is friendly, however the HR is ▮▮▮

You still have time to improve your grades. Work on it, and you can aspire to join any firm you want. Focus on publications and moots, and within a year, you can make significant progress. Please don’t limit yourself. Once you enhance your CV with publications and moots, start cold emailing partners and connecting on LinkedIn. We all know the reason. Because of the NLS VC. Most of these kids, while publicly dragging his name through the mud, would kill to have a Rhodes Scholar + Oxford DPhil/Paul Craig supervisee on their unis' teaching staff, let alone their VC. Absolutely true. I really hope they improve the culture at the firm. I don’t know if AJ reads these threads, but the internship process seriously needs to be made more transparent. From what I’ve heard and personally experienced, selections often depend more on the mood of the HR team (who can come across as quite entitled) and the associates, rather than actual performance. No matter how good your work is, they may still choose not to recommend you.

For example, an associate once assigned my friend research work based on case laws that were apparently generated using AI. My friend later discovered that those cases were completely bogus and did not even exist. When she politely informed the associate about it, the associate literally screamed at her and then chose not to recommend her for a callback.

Partners after 10-15 PQE earn far lesser than their equally successful litigation counterparts, all the while having to bring in 2-3x revenue atleast to take back home what they take back home. A decently successful one after 10PQE will be earning 1-3cr. That after 20-25 PQE will be earning 5-20cr, and outliers will be there. Your litigation counterparts will be outearning these people by a factor of 2-3 easily..

Hi! So I was looking for potential Senior Advocates, AoRs, and other non-designated but good advocates in Delhi who pay well to freshers (and that they hire freshers). Professor ▮▮▮, Dean of ▮▮▮, Coimbatore, has allegedly sparked massive controversy after making shocking and deeply insulting remarks against members of the Law Faculty and reportedly branding the Bar Council of India as “non-sense” during an official meeting convened by the University Registrar. Don't understand reasons for downvoting posts that question or scrutinize the role of CBI investigators in the RGK case. I am an incoming 3rd year law student in a T2 NLU, have a 3.2/7 CGPA, no major internships under my belt, I majorly want to work in disputes, so what should I do from now onwards, so that I could have a good chance to get a decent disputes job at any Tier-2 or boutique firm (not aspiring for T-1, given my grades and internships) or is it too much to aspire for given my grades and no prior experience

Not trying to body shame or be judgmental about looks, but this is a fact and it’s a health issue. Saw a guy today who was very handsome and a total jock in law school: star athlete, slim, muscular. Now very chubby, big belly, puffy face, sagging eyes and skin, balding. He said he barely sleeps 4-5 hours a day. Eats burgers and pizzas in office every second day.

Even one senior girl who was the most beautiful girl in college looks worn and wrinkled, like she probably goes to sleep at 4 am everyday.

We won’t stay beautiful forever, but we can surely try and stay healthy? This doesn’t look healthy to me. Is it worth it, just to earn more money?

X is a Tier-2 law firm in Delhi. Y is a partner there who heads a particular team. The attrition rate within that team is extremely high. Most of the team consists of freshers, with only one or two seniors. One of the senior members of the team has repeatedly been accused of inappropriate conduct (POSH related) by making female associates and interns uncomfortable through persistent staring, approaching and other behaviour. Over the years, several women have left the team because of him. However, the partner and the management have continued to protect him, allegedly because the team lacks sufficient manpower to manage the workload without him.

An LLM will be useful if you want to do legal policy, research or academia in the US. For those purposes actually contrary to the doom and gloom here it is useful (of course visa issues are whole other thing). But if you want to do law, like corporate or litigation you are better of doing expedied J.D
