When she got court permission to get an abortion she was informed that they would inject the baby with drugs which may or may not kill the child and she would have to still undergo labour. faced with this horrifying ordeal the teenage female rape victim and her family decided it would be better for her to give birth to the child and have someone in the family adopt the child. The medical board then had to approach the supreme court to ensure that they would not be violating the law by not aborting.

For what its worth- male and female is not an identity. Its a descriptive characteristic that bodies possess, like height or eye color. every cell in your body is coded with xx or xy genes so a woman getting a mastectomy ( like breast cancer survivors do) or a hysterectomy (like many older women do) does not make them less female. This is the last week of my assessment internship at a very small boutique firm in Mumbai, and I am pretty sure that I will receive a PPO.

Wanted to know how to prepare for conversation regarding pay once it comes up with the partner. How to put forward my expectations in a way that I don't make myself sound greedy ?

There are two reason mainly for this movement -

1. Since corp law is mainly based on connections, and life of glamour and sleaze attracts these right out of privileged folks, they find it easier to gel in and get a foot in the door.

2. They don't want to ruggedness and hardships of litigation practice in their prime years atleast.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am quitting my T1 job (different firm than her) next month and moving back to my home city to take some time off and think about life moving forward. I will probably prepare for govt exams or practice in my hight court. My dreams dont make much sense and every day going to my job slogging off has become a mental hell. I am so lost. I recently appeared for an interview. The interview went well, and they rolled out an offer in the space of a week. I had communicated my compensation expectations in advance. They lowballed heavily, matched my fixed, and offered a third of the bonus I am certain to receive by just hanging around at my current place. It was a colossal waste of time.

Let's say you are asked to research on a query - you can do the following.

- In a simple document - put the query on top.

- In the first para (like a summary) give a clear yes or no response (or respond that it is a grey area). Keep this short, crisp and to the point. Give the reasoning in a line or two AND no more. If you don't have this level of clarity - your research is deficient and you need to look at more things. Write in first person.

- In subsequent pages - provide more details.

Some points on how you can conduct and present the research.

Case law

If you are citing case law - extract relevant paras and mark the relevant portions - with a brief one liner on top regarding the case's relevance. Might also be helpful to summarize the facts in a line or two. Don't give self prepared summaries of the case (like u might be used to in law school - as they are pretty useless and the associate will have to re-read the case to confirm the accuracy of what you've written).

- Make sure that you check that the case has not been overruled (if it is a HC case - like a FAO - double check on SC website if it has been challenged). Learn about how cases move through the system. Sometimes, you might find the relevant point in an interim order. See if that can be used to make the general point you are making.

- Send PDFs of the cases along with your research (downloaded from SCC or Manupatra - the latter often contains errors).

Commentaries and Statutes.

Definitely extract the statute provision in the note. Try to check the provisions around the one you are citing (do a CTRL+F) sometimes it leads to new insights.

See if there are any govt issued materials on the provision (like committee reports, FAQs etc.) they will have more meaning than a random commentary that you are citing from.

Check parliamentary questions.

Use reliable commentaries. Check with your associate which commentary they prefer.

Keep everything very readable, crisp and to the point. Always remember, everything you write must try to answer one or more aspects of the question you are asked.

For someone who’s supposedly "self-made," you sure spend a lot of time obsessing over other people’s careers. It’s honestly a bit sad that every time corporate law comes up, there you are, ranting like it’s some personal vendetta. Litigation demands humility, empathy, and respect for others’ choices—qualities you clearly lack if putting down corporate lawyers you don’t even know is your go-to. Unlikely you’ll handle clients well with that attitude. Or maybe you’ll lean on those second-generation connections for that too, eh?

Apply to JSA banking team called ATU, they are quite toxic and pay less compared to peers but you will get experience and will end up working for most banks. You can move to another place in a few years if you survive the grind. If you cannot handle too much toxicity or are a female then avoid ATU and join team SM. You will get experience with SM also but you will have to work smartly.
