Since the recruitment prospects for the Batch of 2026 can be relatively bleak (especially for non-NLU students like me), I would really appreciate it if we make a thread containing the firms (or specific teams) where the chances of securing PPOs are higher. This would truly benefit all law students and help us understand the market in a much better manner.

It would be really helpful if we could get insights into the specific area and location as well because the hiring practices seem to be Partner-specific in some firms.

I would personally like to know which all teams have good hiring prospects in their Blr office for M&A/Gen Corp/Banking and Finance

bhai GC work has slowed down. Mumbai was anyways shit, Delhi has been shaky after an internal rift between the firm and blue chip partners who got scooped by SAM for setting up a Gurgaon presence

After capital markets, employment, disputes and real estate teams departing, nothing but TMT is left. Avoid.

I am from the 2025 batch and have a PPO from AZB Mumbai so I can talk to you about their hiring practices. AZB is slowly shifting their focus to hiring predominantly from PPOs rather than Day Zero. Their yearly intake is about 40ish A0s every year. They try to give each of their partners one A0 from every batch (they have a partner buddy system, and there are currently 35 partners with a couple of promotions on the way). They also only take students from the top 10-12 law schools in India for internships so you'll need to be from Jindal/SLS if you're from a non-NLU student or you will need a strong contact in the firm. Even if you go through a contact, do good work and you'll get an assessment. Hope this helps!

Also, can you please lmk how many interns AZB takes every month and how is the PPO scene in the BLR office? Also how was your PPO process like - did you have interviews or presentations? How did you network with partners, associates etc.? How did you prepare for the internship, interviews etc.? Also does AZB hand out PPOs only from interns who have got in through their college RCC's or individual applications as well?

The Mumbai office takes about 40 interns every month in peak months (June, July, Dec, Jan). Not sure about other months. No idea about how the BLR office works either. My PPO process was pretty standard as per what AZB Mumbai does. In the last week of your assessment internship, you have to present on an assigned topic to your partner and probably 3-4 other partners of the group you're interning in. They ask you questions throughout the ppt and then there is a short interview afterwards. They reserve a 1 hour slot for the PPT and related questions + general CV / company law / contract law questions. No tips really on how to prep for the internship. Just be good at researching well I guess. The associates giving you work will explain what they expect and how you need to do it. Make sure you ask enough questions so you don't end up doing something they didn't want/need.

With respect to the ppt and interview, just be well researched on the subject you're presenting and thorough with everything in your CV. PPOs can be through RCC or if you go through a contact as well, you just gotta do good work. No idea if they take individual applications.
