Although people do say that it doesn't matter as much in India, I think it's mostly their luck that allows them to say so. Back in 2023, even people who were in the bottom 10-20% of the batch (T-1 NLUs) had multiple offers. This year, even the top 10-20% seem to be struggling so far.
Grades do not define you, but luck does. To a certain extent at least. And it's something you can't count on, unfortunately. I have very average grades in my third year at a t-1 NLU and am insanely struggling finding an internship. My immediate seniors haven't even had 5% of their batch receive a ppo, when the figures by this team of the year would cross 20%. So yeah, hope things turn well for everyone. But nothing is assured, so keep working, and try imrpoving your grades I guess.
Looking at SLAT, around 20,000 candidates compete for approximately 300 seats at SLS Pune, making the selection ratio comparable to that of NLU Delhi. Additionally, sls institutions have relatively lower reservations and a two-stage admission process, where selection isnβt based solely on test scores but also on interviews and extracurricular achievements.
Strong communication skills are essential to clear the interview, reinforcing the idea that admissions arenβt purely number-driven. Given this, if you are top 50 of your class in sls pune I believe its as good as t1 nlus what are your thoughts I just saw so many people bashing sls pune I want to put forward my opinion and get some back I have also heard they are very good mooters best in the field and have very good placement and alumini base
The mid level associate pool is ok and so are mostly the juniors but the arrogance flowing from the top is incredible demeaning and demotivating
Work is fine, hours are standard PE hours
Would still recommend the team but speak to the people before
What would be their job location and for someone wanting inhouse, will it be easy to switch ahead. Thanks
OK: AS @ JSA
Good: TTA, AS @ AZB, KR @ Tri
Speaking from personal experience.
What do you think about it? Is it better that SLSN or SLSH?
Iβll also save money on the hostel expenses since iβm from bengaluru. What is the overall opinion on Christ? Iβve heard lots of mixed reviews on that as well.
Are you an NLU student/Graduate? Either way, Thanks a lot!
Ha, ha........so what the state NLUs have been doing for years is illegal. NLS has even pawned additional domicile seats for a mere 7 acres of leased land.
I hope you go with what you heart calls for. Good luck!
The only condition I remember for losing the advocates tag, is they enter into employment. Losing Indian citizenship doesn't seem to them losing the advocates tag.
Once again, this is all from the top of my head. Feel free to correct
I know they have been trying to hire especially for Real Estate
1. Have 2 phones - one for work, one for friends and family
2. If you have savings/family pocket money - try for an iOS-Android combo - that way best of both worlds
3. If you do not have savings, get a mid-tier Android - Pixel range; once you're A1, you can get the iPhone, and a year later, upgrade to the Android flagship (whichever it may be then).
Keep work and personal phones separate. Just 2 sims in the same phone won't cut it - the anxiety inducing notifications will destroy you.
Established Seniors: Vikram Nankani, V Sridharan, Rohan Shah
Established Juniors/Non Designated: Sunil Moti Lala, Prakash D Shah, Bharat Raichandani
As OP mentioned - majority of high quality work is with a few names.
If you are a customer, and youre just buying a degree for a summer camp, why should anyone hire you? why should anyone believe you actually learnt anything?
its not wordly wise to be corrupt and its not naive to have bare minimum standards.
What IT work?
1 main phone for your near and dear ones, the other to take calls and messages at work. Else youβll go crazy. Every notification will give you anxiety, but at least you know which one to react to.
All the best!
Huilgol Law Chambers - Direct and Indirect
Same question pls help
Lol what? Everyone already knows that. There's no dearth of Indian doctors, scientists and CEOs in the west.
Was the second-last batch rank out of those that got placed, and I can't remember the last time that fact was relevant to me or those who work with me. IM very HO, there are certain things that you need to progress in this profession, but the classroom will never give you those (especially looking at the state of higher education in India).
Nailed internship - made it to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.
Criminals deserve to be kicked out and punished. Rules may make sense or not but if one set of people can follow them why canβt these special set of people follow??
Now I'm reconsidering my decision.
Just wanted to know how you came across this info? Should I start looking elsewhere?
How do you know they're on a freeze this year?
What is the scene w bangalore firms??
From what I've read, making connections really does go a long way! But my question is, how exactly do you do that? or If that can be a major factor in landing you tier 1/2 firm jobs if you're also good with acads and other stuff.
Are you an NLU student/graduate? Regardless, Thanks a lot!
PS: Apology to all LI readers who come across this comment other than the author of the comment to which I am replying. Somebody must combat the constant mudslinging going on here and I've figured (perhaps wrongly) that the best way to fight it is by engaging in it in the reverse way to how the other side is slinging mud. Therefore, please treat this as a rant and nothing more.
Theres a wide gulf between saying "hard work alone doesnt cut it in this world any more" and saying he only got this far because of privilege. the latter is objectively not true. Dont motte and bailey.
If you dont mind me asking, what year are you in?
and this might be a basic question but how do you build connections? Through internships, thats one way for sure. But, do academics and extra curricular activities such as moot courts play a huge HUGE part in landing you internships/jobs in tier 1/2?
Good luck to you and thank you once again!!
