3. Is there a brand craze here as well? Is it better not to wear a tie if you don't wear a top brand?
4. What about tie pins? Can they be used as a status symbol as well?
No one wears a tie unless client meeting / conference.
I don't even know tie brands. Most expensive tie I own is one Satya Paul which I only brought because i had a gift card to burn. Wear whatever looks good on you, neat and professional.

2. Since they're the ones usually attending the high profile client BD meetings, yes. Associates wont be judged negatively. May get some snarky comments from others if you're doing it regularly but no one else is. Ignore them.
3. No, since no one cares about the ties. Wear whatever ypu can afford if you want to.
