Usually we see threads about the lifestyles of the T1 firm lawyers in Bombay, but not so many about those in Delhi. So here's one to start. Where do they hang out, live, travel, shop and so on?

I'll start - I'm at a T1 in its corporate practice. My PA used to rent in GK2, and my Partner has his own flat in Hauz Khas. Khan Market is a preferred hang out, shopping is mostly at the South Delhi/Gurgaon malls.

True. There is so much scope for growth in these two cities, especially Hyderabad. Given that Tatva doesn't have a great work culture (hire and fire at will), and other firms don't have much big ticket work, Hyderabad is a market ripe for those with the right work ethic and culture.

Don't stereotype Bangalore, the instances you see on the internet isn't the ground reality of this city. Yes, there are vigilantes who take extreme steps to fight for their cause, but they are just form a minuet part of Kanndigas. to be honest, even kannadigas have to learn hindi to get by in bangalore.

Living since 45 years in Mumbai. Still can't speak decent Marathi and can barely make sense of someone speaks Marathi. Interacting with fair amount of Babu types. Never faced a problem. And yeah, preferred mode of travel is public transport, due to its efficiency. So yeah, not really.

In Delhi, it is only the pollution and weather (except the winter months) that sucks. In all other aspects, including people, Delhi is a far better city than both Bangalore and Bombay, especially Bombay. The "know it all" arrogant Bombay attitude combined with the tendency to look down upon others who are considered not posh enough is sickening. Bombay is extremely classist and racist.

Rapes, harassment and men ogling happens in Mumbai too. Rude people ? Mumbai is very well known to be the most rude city in India. There is road rage in Mumbai too. And the way Gujaratis and a few Maharashtrians behave in Mumbai is far worse than those from Haryana, UP, jaat gujar etc.

Nope. Mumbai would be most helpful city. No one has time to be rude with anyone, unless you're behaving like an A**hole. Ask for help and you'll get it. And that's the culture across communities. No one wants to bother in anyone's business. Women safety - much better than any other city. One of very few cities, where you can travel at 2-3 am alone without worry. Are there exceptions, of course yes. But not norm. Not interested in comparison so no comments on any other city. But this is Mumbai. The only problems are rising population and very high coat of living fueled by high real estate prices. Economic opportunities are still decently good here.

All Indian cities are helpful. In Mumbai, regular fights break out in the local trains. You have organised gangs which do not allow people to board a few locals - you are not allowed to board / get down before Dahisar if you get onto a Virar fast local. People might be in a hurry and want to reach their destination quickly, rather than get onto a Borivali fast which halts at pretty much every station after Andheri, thereby making it a little slow. Those who wish to argue on the lines of do not get into a Virar local while there are Borivali terminating locals, tell me, is there any law which prohibits people from doing so ? If there is, please point out. Apart from that, I have seen people fighting and even slapping others in taxi queues outside CST station. And gosh, those bhajan mandalis - never seen that in any other city's local transport (Before you get started saying other cities do not have local train systems - Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune all have local train (not metro) systems), never heard of such noise disturbance in those cities. Religion and beliefs should be a personal affair and kept at home, and should never be a mode of relaxation in a public place. There are several others who may want silence after a day of hard work, but they cannot enjoy that due to the nuisance and noise of the bhajan mandalis. And honestly, Mumbai is the most judgemental Indian city out there, you are judged for your choice of purchases, for how you spend your money, for the way you dress, people are so rude they come up to you and tell you "everyone is laughing at you, please behave properly". Never seen this in any other Indian city. This argument that no one in Mumbai has time is crap. Everyone makes the time for gossip sessions, be it at workplace, home or in the local trains.

It’s called being well mannered and well groomed. Something the Delhi bling doesn’t understand. Mumbai has wayyyy more unfortunately homeless people around but still wayyy safer than Delhi NCR. Says a lot about the crowd there. As for gossip, people do that because they know they can finish off work later, actually like being in offices and go home late night (at least law firms). Not like Delhi where you HAVE to finish off work at 7 and head home, unless you want to be mobbed at the Gurgaon and Okhla law firms. Saket might be better though.

as someone who lives in delhi, yes the city is unsafe but bro you dont get harassed left, right and center, what do you mean??? i am a woman and i drive in the city too. i havent been harassed, i know i am lucky, but its not like the city is so unsafe that its unliveable altogether???

It actually really is. Whats the point of having metro when a woman cant use it after 7 pm without looking back at her shoulder all the time. Balconies and some extra space cant make up for the extremely unsafe environment. Try getting out of the “I have a car” bubble and see how most of the working class lives. Safety over any fucking huge “balcony”
